hee hee the whole car

Uh, where do I start. Well...this car is a bad joke. I hate it. I wish I had got that new 03 cavalier right about now. This kia thing just fell apart; everytime I would leave somewhere a little pile of parts would get left behind and stuff. the glovebox broke and it took about 5 weeks to get the part in. the windshield wiper fell off in front of a bunch of my homies and now they won't hang out with me. also, my 3 year old son told me to get a real car. man did that hurt. i went to burger king yesterday and they laughed at me in the drive thru window. dont buy this car.

Everything

What can i say about my car.....I hate it. Three weeks after I got it, there was a recall on the windshield wipers. Two months after that, there was recall on the gas tank of all things. After the first year, the interior was beginning to crack. The plastic pieces on the outside, next to the windows also began to fade. The second year, my glove compartment was stuck for a month because it took that long for the parts to come in for it to be fixed. The rubber seal on the windows are falling off. Basically the whole car is falling apart. Please, whatever your do, DO NOT but a Kia.

Big boy

Strength:

Roomy for a small car... I'm 6'3" and the wife is 5'9" and we are very comfortable. Its reliable, efficient and sporty. It is without question the best value out there and the warrenty is also fantastic.

Weakness:

The engine gets a little loud when pushed over 140km per hour! We stopped going to the dealership for repairs because like so many others we realized that the so called "experts" realy weren't. We have the regular maintenace performed by a local shop who is also less expensive than the dealership.

We bought our Sephia brand new in September 2000. It is the "LS" with power package and we absolutely love it! Its a 5 speed and its a fun to drive little car. At the time we bought it, it was the best deal that we could find and in fact we were looking for a used car. We almost bought a 1996 honda accord with the same power options with 150,00km on it for the same price as we paid for our brand new Sephia! The car now has 90,000km on it and asside from regular maintenance and gas,it has cost us nothing in repairs! It has been great through our tough Canadian cold and snowy winters. With 4 snow tires on steel rims we have yet to get stuck. My sister bought a 2001 Sephia automatic (LS with power package) because we were always raving about how this has been such a great car for us, she too loves her car. The only trouble she has had is that whole "engine light" because of the loose gas cap scenario mentioned in so many of these Summaries.

Strength:

It looks good.

Weakness:

It`s not made for a tall and large person. It`s not reliable. You have to put the stick-shift in drive before emptying the ash-tray ?????

This car was great for the first 9mnts then suddenly my gsx died on the road, they had to replace the battery, And now it`s on it`s third visit all relating to the same problem...STARTING UP.I only have 20,000kms. I miss my old car so much...it was 10 years old but it never let me down.

I have never owned a new car that has had this many WARRANTY problems in a single year. They should increase the curriculum at the universities to 5 years for a mechanical engineer degree.

Strength:

Great gas mileage Good dependability Good trunk space for a little car Easy to drive

Weakness:

Noisy cabin Squeally engine Bad radio Dents very easily Paint chips and scratches easily

When we bought our Sephia, it was 2 years old and only had 13,000 miles on it. In two years, we have added 60,000. It has been wonderful. The check engine light comes on if the gas cap isn't just right. A little annoying, but no big deal. We have had to replace the breaks twice. We went 50k+ miles without a tuneup, which messed up the sparkplug wires. That was our own fault and the only real problem with the car. I wish we bought the LS model, ours is the base model which is REALLY plain. Overall though, a great car for the price. If KIA will work through a few rough edges, it will be even better.

Strength:

Overall economy (price, fuel) Roomy for a little car, especially headspace Decent power Great stock sound system Handles good

Weakness:

Resale value Cheap body and interior materials(the interior plastic sucks and the exterior body isn't exactly dent-resistant) Price and availability of simple parts, such as oil filter, air filter, etc Some vibration Loud cabin noise (turn up the radio)

Some people laugh when you buy a Kia. It's true. Theres a stigma when it comes to these cars, but I really like my car. The more miles i put on it without problem, the more I want to hang on to it. I purchased my Sephia used with 17,000 miles. Have had it for 2 yrs now, and it now has over 72,000. I haven't had any real problems with it, aside from having to have the battery replaced just after the warranty ran out. It's really not a bad car as long as you MAINTAIN it. (I've actually gone 5 or 6,000 miles at times without changing the oil; still no problems) And it runs as good as the day I bought it, almost. Handles good, nice power for such a small, cheap car... At about 60,000 miles, (end of warranty) the brakes started to squeak and my check engine light came on about the same time, and I thought "ok here we go..." but i went as far as to get new brakes and shoes from the dealership, and i found after taking the brakes apart that it was only accumulated brake dust making the noise. Also, the "check engine" light turned out that the gas cap wasn't tight. ( which i fugured out the next time i filled up. not to mention that it says something about that in the owner's manual) The only thing I've had to call Kia for roadside assistance was when I locked myself out of my car and they sent a locksmith within 30 minutes. Now, I know that there are a LOT of unhappy Kia owners out there, and to tell the truth I am not surprised. I've had the fortune of being the owner of a nice little car without any major defect. Just make sure that whatever car you buy, treat it well, take care of it regularly if it's a lower-end car, and cross your fingers! Oh, did I mention that i've had to do a tune-up? Once in 2 years. Make sure that you change your air filter, fuel filter after every whatever miles it is, and change your oil every 3000. If you got a good Kia, you'll be just fine.

Strength:

Good on gas. Great first family car.

Weakness:

Small little problems that should be taken care of before leaving the factory.

I have been leasing a 2000 Kia Sephia for almost 3 years now. I think it is a great car but there are some problems that really tick me off especially since no one seems to know how to fix them. The first problem I've had is with the turn signals in cold and damp weather. Just around early spring or late autumn when there is a cold morning my turn signals won't work. The clicking sometimes sounds like a machine gun. It does this until the engine warms up and then it is fine. The second problem that I've had recently is the horn sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. What causes this I don't know. For the money I think it's a good car. Kia gave me a lease when no one else would and for that I thank them.

Strength:

peppy engine, good gas mileage, good handling, easy to work on, reliable as long as you keep the maintenance up just like with any car

Weakness:

some of the parts for the car are hard to find and more costly than other cars in this class.

I have owned my 2000 sephia for 2yrs know and have put 50,000 miles on it and the only problem that i ever had with it is the check engine light has come on several times due to the gas cap was bad but that was a 20$ fix and the original tires suck and so i replaced them at about 15,000 miles. But i have been very happy with the car. peppy little engine and good on gas, drives better than you would expect from a korean car, just due general maintenance that the manual tells you and the car is great. I recommend the kia sephia, to anyone but on the same note i do not recommend any of the 90thru 99 model sephias.

Transmission.....little annoying stuff. The repair center and customer service is horrible

Problems, problems problems. I had a ford that sucked to, but at least i wasn't making payments on that piece of crap! This will be the fourth transmission put in this young 18k car in 2 months. The first one was just leaking a bit and the more the brilliant techs mess with my car the worse it gets. The check engine light has been on a few times for various reasons. Didn't have car for xmas and had to get a rental while in the shop that they refused to pay for. Let's hope she's deemed a lemon and i get my money back--I was going to trade it in for the sorento but never ever! Kia sucks

Brakes, and an overall OK car.

Weakness:

Electrical! Electrical! Electrical!

Now i usually don't write these things but i've got to vent. When i first bought my kia, it ran great. The only problem was with the radioand dome light not working. The dealer said it was a bad fuse that just needed to be replaced. And it worked for about 2 weeks. The new fuse continued to blow about every 2 weeks and soon wouldn't even take. I drive for a good 9 months with no radio. Take it to a mechanic who does a diagnostic and tells me that the car shouldn't have been sold off the lot with the severe electrical shortage in it. Warranty is over. So i pay $600 to do the work. Two weeks later, ignition switch blows out and pay $300 to replace. Blows out again in a month plus engine light begins to pop on and engine overheats.
