good gas mileage

I HATE MY CAR!!! I bought the car used with about 56,000 miles on it. Within one month of ownership the transmission went out. To add insult to injury when i called the dealership and asked if this was a common problem on a three year old car they casually remarked "Yeah we replace transmissions all the time" As if Kia had planned on it. Also, I live in an are that is prone to snow and cold so i often need the defrost. At first while the defrost was going it would just stop for two seconds then start again. Strange! But just last night it cut off completely for about an hour. The body pipe (connects to the muffler) constantly get holes in it. I am at my wits end. I will never get another Kia ever!!!

Strength:

Good gas mileage, standard options for the price.

Weakness:

Check engine light, could use some more horsepower, cheap factory paint job, cheap stereo system.

Bought it in October 2000 as a college gift. Haven't had problems for 2 years except for old faithful (the check engine light) which seems to come on alot for no good reason. Since then learned how to cut off w/o paying money. Shouldnt buy it if have enough money to purchase a Civic. Decent car for decent price.

It worked pretty well for the first year, they sales people are nice (but I guess they have to be because the car sucks)

Weakness:

the technicians, transmission, customer care

I have owned my sephia now for 19 months and up until a month ago, I would have given my cute little car a superb review. However, I started having some problems with my car. First it wouldn't start occassionally, or it would stall in the middle of traffic. Then, if I didn't drive it for a couple of days, the gear shift would get really stiff and would be hard to move. when I took the car in, the techs looked at it, gave two thumbs up and sent me on my way. Then, one day three weeks ago, I went to leave work and my car wouldn't start. It had worked perfectly fine earlier in the day, but would not start when I wanted to go home. The car was taken to the dealership (I waited two hours for the tow truck to arrive) and they decided that the transmission and several other parts had to be replaced. Everything was going just fine until three days ago when the check engine light came on. Because I take care of my car, and freak out about every little thing, I immediately called and made an appointment. When the techs looked at my car, they said nothing was wrong except a blown fuse. This morning on my way to work, I stopped at a light, and my car decided it was not going one inch further. I was stopped in a lane of traffic during heavy morning commute traffic! Let's talk about not safe. For the second time in three weeks I had to be towed to a dealership. The dealership refused to pay for a rental car and even told me that because I didn't have an appointment that they might not even get to my car today. I am now stranded without a car until sometime next week (it's Friday). They called to tell me that they need to replace the transmission...again. I haven't even driven the car 200 miles since I had the last transmission put in! This is absolutely ridiculous. Do I need to have to be seriously injured during one of my car's routine transmission breaks to get some kind of positive or helpful reaction from the customer care department?? Since this morning I have told everyone that I see to avoid kias at all costs...I even stopped a co-worker from purchasing a kia, I told her to save her money. I had an 11 year old ford tempo that didn't give me this kind of a problem!

good price. The service people are good. I should know. I've seen them enough

Weakness:

too many things wear out. The rotars don't last long. The exhaust had to be fixed by about 40,000 miles.

This car was last year's model being sold for a reduced price at the time the 2000 came out. At first, the warranty covered the few things that went wrong, often brake rotors. But after a while, the thing started to nickel and dime me to death! I've had a good few months(knock on wood) with no problems, but I wouldn't recommend it, unless you don't mind spending time in the shop and spending a couple hundred $ every few months. One time, I had the engine light come on, the whole car cut out, and then come back on. This lasted about a second. I hope that doesn't mean anything. Hey, it was cheap though!

Weakness:

There isn't the time or space here . . .

I bought this car new. I will never own a Kia again. In fact, we don't allow the word "Kia" to be said in our house anymore. This car has been in the shop almost more than it has been on the road. It will go through months of good service, then be in the shop 9-10 times in 2-3 months! I've had it. It's going by way of either a trade-in or a large brick on the gas peddle on the side of a cliff!

I love my Kia. It gets great gas mileage and I have never had a problem with the car or the warranty. Drives like a dream. I would recommend it. The only time I see postings on these types of websites is if they are negative.

1 word, LEMON

I will never own another kia. I have sued kia for excessive warranty problems. they replaced the transmission in it twice already 1 month apart. it only has 35k miles on it. now on the way home tonight the engine light started flashing then solid then flashing and car was running real rough, so begins about the 15th tow truck ride to the dealer in 12 months. have had many other problems too numerous to mention.

The dome light still works.

Weakness:

Poor gas milege. Defective breaks. Failed transmission.

Piece of junk!!!! I bought a Kia for piece of mind attached to what seemed like a kick butt warranty. Well, ever buy a toaster and the day the warranty runs out it dies? When I bought the Kia it only had the 5 year 60,000 powertrain warranty. Here I am at 69,000 with a bad trasmission. I have already had to replace the brakes and by that I mean everything associated with the brakes! Now to find that I have to replace the trasmission. I think Geo's lasted longer than that! We had also bought a Kia Sportage which was worth just about as much as the Sephia. I solemly swear, I will never own another Kia.
