Strength:
Engine, Transmission (could be a quicker shifter), Brakes!!!! (98,000 miles on the original discs and pads, is that normal? hehehehe) this car has the best brakes of any car I have ever driven, even with 98K miles on the brakes this car still brakes great; handling, seating, pretty much anything you can think of, this car is good at.
Weakness:
It doesn't have a cup holder, but this is a driver's car not a drinker's car. This is a follow up to my original posting. I feel as though this car is like wine, it just keeps getting better with age. I now has 98,000 miles on the clock. The engine is as smooth as the day I bought it. It has been completely bullit proof. Never so much as a knock. I'm getting ready to have the timing chain replaced for the first time in its nearly 100K mile tour of duty. The only bad part about the timing chain is the cost to get it replaced. Almost 1000$ to have it replaced. If you're going to buy one of these cars used and it has more than 75,000 miles on it, make sure to get the timing chain replaced or check to see if its been replaced. Strength:
Feel of the road, handling, comfort on long drives, value, safety features, warranty duration and cabin appointments. This car is super smooth when cruising on the highway!
Weakness:
Cup holders are useless! Bose system lacks definition (sound dynamics) and the automatic transmission can be harsh if handled abruptly (but still delivers plenty of power once you get the hang of it). By far the worst thing about this car is its public awareness factor. Infiniti needs to hire someone who knows a thing or two about marketing. Had I known this car existed in 2000, I wouldn't have purchased the Accord in the first place - but maybe that's just me! This car is an inspiration. It personifies the notion of "fun to drive" while providing great comfort and the feeling of luxury. It handles like a dream and responds to your every whim. This is actually my fiance's car. We purchased it after I made the mistake of leasing a 2000 Honda Accord Ex (fully loaded with leather etc) and I have absolutely fallen in love with it. The G20T outperforms and outshines the accord in every detail, and as a result I have sold the Honda and have purchased a 2002 G20 Sport. The Accord is an excellent reliable car but feels rather bulky and lacks character in comparisson to the G20T. The Accord plays it safe and as such does not deliver a "sense of fun" when driving - it has OK handling and but rather bland styling and cheap paint / sheet metal. For the deal you can get on a G20, it is the best car in its class and deserves some serious attention. Don't listen to the professional reviewers out there - this car is a far better deal than top of the line Honda Accords, Acura Integras or ELs or Toyotas. It comes with far more standard appointments and offers the equivelant / superior engine performance and fuel economy that the above mentioned cars are praised for. It may not have a V6 or turbo to compete with BMW or IS300, but it is also $10,000 cheaper when compared to fully loaded models (leather etc)! Handling, looks, reliability, low-priced features, unique(not too many on the road)
Weakness:
power, cup holders The G20 is an undiscovered gem within the automotive world. Many critics(mainly automotive journalists) of the car claim that it lacks power. Granted this car is NOT a drag racer. But, it has enough power to move you along. What critics don't realize is that the car has many other qualities that really outshine it's competitors. The suspension is amazing - great handling car, build quality is excellent, feature loaded without killing your wallet unlike BMW, the car has a nice smooth(for a 4 cylinder), quiet ride. The reliability record on the G20 is impeccable. I have had the car for almost 3 years, and have had no major problems at all. The only problem i had was a faulty "check engine" switch which was replaced under warranty. The style is not revolutionary, but, the car has a nice classy look with defined lines that will age gracefully. Dealer service has been exceptional. Other manufacturers have higher powered cars, but, lack the reliability and low-priced feature content of the G20. I highly recommend this car to someone who can't afford a BMW or Mercedes, but, wants an affordable near-luxury car. This car is not a family car (space is tight for family use), and is not for someone who expects a 0-60 time of under 6 secs. Where is a girl supposed to set her coffee cup? Not alot of leg room in the back seat. 130,000 miles--never had to fix anything except new brakes a bout a month ago. holds on tight during curves. What is this I keep hearing about poor power? I love passing with this car--no problems at all, I love the sound the engine makes while passing. I will keep this car until 300,000 miles and then find another used 95. Mine has a factory spoiler, makes the trunk heavy to lift. Similar Products Used: None |

Leather seats, "wood" accents, moonroof, power everything, anti-lock brakes, you name it.
Weakness:
None really. I just wish there was a little bit more power, but I in no way regret buying the car! Great car. So much value for the money. Very impressive. I feel very luxurious and safe driving this car. Has so many options I've always wanted in a car. Similar Products Used: Honda Accord - I'm sorry, but Honda is just too cocky for their own good. Of the 2 times I've visited the dealership, they had the nerve to practically insult me every time. The last - in Costa Mesa, California back in February 2001, they had the "nerve" to tell me that "maybe I was looking at a car I couldn't afford". (Because they wouldn't work with me on the price.) Never again will I be insulted. |

Strength:
- Ride and Handling is very taunt, precise. (feels better than a Maxima SE)
Weakness:
- Loud road noise from a vehicle that bears the Infiniti badging Coming this October 2001, I will have owned the G20t for the last 3yrs. It is a 1999 model w/ the Touring Package. Overall rating, I feel the a Sentra would be a better deal than the G20t. Reason being, all you're really getting is the same suspension parts, same engine, just a different exterior/interior look. Plus the Sentra's "Feel" actually feels better than the G20. Thus the reason for the G20's short life. I hear the last model year will be 2002-2003. the only thing i can think of is the cupholder, but why would you drink inside your new car and spill it all over the fine leather? this car is very impressive. much more to offer than the accord and jetta at the same price. offers me everything i ask for in a car:style, speed(close enough), comfort and warranty. infiniti is also a good name (very dependable) Similar Products Used: bmw 3 series, maxima, jetta, accord, itegra ls |

Styling, reliability, cloth seats, paint quality, handling, solidity, quietness, ride quality, brakes
Weakness:
Hard to clean the skirts and wheels, but fun trying. My sparkling pearl white G20 will be 1 year old on 8/21/01. The only car I've ever owned(among many) that has not produced 1 flaw of any sort. Not even any sqeaks or rattles on the crappy roads of Ny. For those of u who don't know, this car is made in Japan and produced by the skillful hands of their craftsmanship. My friend described it as a small luxury tank. It is as solid as they come. When I wash this car(always hand wash), people tell me its beautiful, looks like $35k and what the hell is it? When i say infiniti they think real expensive. It's about the same as a well equipped camry or accord, but so much more unique, attractive, and japanese. Most accords and camry's are built in US. I've had US built japanese cars and they had many minor assembly related problems, like misaligned doors, and numerous noise and brake annoyances. When I test drove the BMW 328, es300(and later IS300), there was no more comparison. The G20 equaled these cars in so many areas and exceeded in some too. I dont know why the BMW is 10-12k more .THe ES300 is worth the $32,000. The audi is unattractive, unrefined engine and boring ride. THe g20 handles great too. I am convinced it is the best kept secret out there. BY the way, I test drove the IS after I bought the G20, cause I liked its looks, but thats all. The interior plastics are actually "Hard touch". Not soft!!! Looked like inside of an Echo. Engine is too noisy, ride too stiff. A loaded corolla from 1993-1997 generation felt more luxurious. It is slightly smaller than G20 as well. Yet it costs about $31k. Crazy. Not worth more than g20. Toyota clearly cut costs in this car. Finally, I bought this '00 g20 for $19,400 with auto and cloth. One of only about 10 cars to come off the boat in cloth. My salesman who was so awesome had a hold on for any g20's coming in the NE region in cloth auto. Finally in 8/00 1 did and in my color. This cloth, which i saw 1st on a '99 is too rich to describe with words. The cloth beat the cloth in the extravagant ES300. Best cloth ever. You simply can get lost in it, it's so plush and comfy. I bet if anyone test drove one vs their other choices, they'd buy 1. Too bad there will never be(probably) a super rare and inexpensive Infiniti again once this generation dies. |

Gas milage
Weakness:
Seat materials cheap, although leather. Cup holder cheap. Windows/car locks bad place on middle console. Cruise control buttons as well bad place. All though it gets decent gas milage, I am really disappointed. My family just took a road trip of about 4-5 hours, and I have to say it is the MOST uncomfortable car I have ever sat in! It was bought used, 108,000 miles on it. The owner was a female and took exceptional care of it...the seats were barely sat on, and by the time we arrived to our destination, my back hurt so much, I couldn't move. I drove home on the return trip, and it was just as bad. I would of thought with a highly rated car, it would of spent a bit more research on the seating in a TOURING car! My 1975 Datsun B210 had better, more comfortable seats, at 300,000 miles then this car had, and I drove it from Washington state to Southern California! Similar Products Used: Galant |
