Strength:
-Smooth and fun ride (with manual, at least) -Cool stereo system--Infinity Sound System -Awesome exterior design (Silver, Red, and Black look really good) -Already lots of available aftermarket parts (I just switched the original Hyundai emblems and the lettering for the OEM ones for the Korean Tuscani. BTW, in Korea, the Tiburon is known as the Tuscani).
Weakness:
-The car is pretty heavy for a "sport" car. -The turns could be more sportier. -There is still some stigma in the Hyundai "brand name." This will, of course, all change as long as Hyundai constantly improves like the Japanese have. This Hyundai vehicle has broken down all my doubts about the quality of Korean vehicles. Before I purchased this car, my options were the following: 1. A used 2001 Nissan Altima, 2. 2002 Honda Accord LX, and 3. 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. I test drove all three of them and conducted extensive research on these vehicles via the Internet and auto magazines. The obvious "winner" was the Honda Accord when it came to rock-solid reliability rating and safety. To me, however, the design of the car as well as its fun in driving, matter big to me. So, I chose the 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. I bought the 5-speed manual transmission (I learned stick to drive this car!!) and I'm having a blast driving it. For reliability, I figure the warranty will cover me. =P Similar Products Used: -1997 Honda Civic EX |

Very nice looking car with a nice sound system.
Weakness:
Too many to mention, just read the review. I wanted to buy a 4 doors automatic car and ended up buying a 5 speeds 2003 Tiburon se (girlfriend thing...) for 25000 canadian $. Well, let me tell you what a disapointment this car is. At first we fell in love with it because it does look very sharp, but that's all it has for itself. The second day we had it, the sun roof didn't work, I spotted a paint defect on the side of the roof, the ball on the shift stick was loose and wouldn't stay straight, the window lock controler on the driver's side would get stuck and we couldn't open the passenger's window anymore. All this got fixed. Two weeks later the sunroof didn't work again. When I was driving and accelerating, the stearing would jerk in every directions, I checked the pressure in the front tires and it had a 6 pounds difference !. I put the pressure back at 32 pounds and now the car is always pulling on the left. On three occasions I had to break fast and I heard a cracking noise comming from the back (the tires did not screach ). Now when the weather is getting cool, the left door window is not getting in it's socket when I close the door, I have to open the window then close it for it to go in it's socket.I'm afraid it will eventually shatter when it gets colder. I've had this car for 3.5 months, it has just 3000 miles on it and I feel like it's a big piece of junk, nice looking piece of junk, but still a piece of junk. I wish I followed my instincts... |

hey guys, well... I think everyone should pay attention to this. I’ve had my Tiburon gtv6 automatic for a couple of months now. At about 3,000 miles i took it to Hyundai to check it up because i heard some type of noise under the engine, like something was dangling. The transmition would make a small clunk when I shifted it into gear. When they looked at it they said, it's ok nothing is wrong, remember you’ve got warranty, don’t worry about a thing. I said ok, fine, so i kept driving it, taking it in for oil changes as scheduled. At about 5,500 miles I took it in for the well known moon roof recall. They replace the moon roof motor and everything was fine. a couple of weeks later After I got off work i went to my car and when I started it up, it started idling at about 5,000rpm. I was very surprised, shutting off the engine and restarting it again. I drove it home very carefully, the engine revving consistently like an animal. Whenever I stopped the engine felt like it just wanted to keep going. My foot was literally shaking because I didn’t know what would happen. I got home and showed it to my dad and he was also confused to why it was doing that. I parked and my dad had the car towed it to Hyundai the next morning. They looked at it and told us that they had to replace the full throttle body and some loose bolts. They said that there was some type of combustion and that's why it was doing that. So it was in the shop for about 5-6 days while they gave us a rental car. On Tuesday when I got my car back I was very disappointed on how long it took for them to fix the problem, on top of that found a pretty good sized scratch on the back bumper. That also got me upset but the said they would fix that later and the car was ready to go. On my way to work I noticed that it was driving very smooth and I was pleased with how good it was running yet it lacked it little less power than before, After about a day of no problems I took my brother to work and set off to my job. I was on the freeway going about 65mph when all of a sudden the engine seized. The cars engine felt like it downshifted extremely hard. As soon as that happened it threw my forward and I lost control. I remembered trying to avoid hitting other cars but it was too late to gain control. I veered to the left sliding on rocks and ended up hitting the median of polls and cables. As soon as I hit I lost |

Strength:
Acceleration, Handling, Looks
Weakness:
The paint it came with chips extremely easily, but that's an easy fix later This has got to be one of the most enjoyable rides I have ever been in. I traded in my 1997 Grand Am and have never even for a second regretted it. The front wheel drive system works wonders in corners and pulls through at high speeds nicely. I am regretting not getting ABS but that's an error on my part, not the cars. I got the upraded stereo, but no sub and a moonroof and this car is absolutely beautiful. I make any stock honda or acura look boring (especially with the metallic blue i have). The acceleration is great for a 4 cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual, i wish i could have afforded the v6 with a 6 speed. The seats fit extremely comfortably and won't let you slide around much when cornering or braking hard. Steering is very responsive and coupled with an amazing turning radius is one of the best i have experienced. Also, these cars do real burnouts, none of those 1 wheel spinning wimpy burns, it lights them both up. That purchase price is including tax and handling and...etc. Car is a great value and a blast to drive Similar Products Used: none |

Top end speed, "brand name" (this car is a step in the right direction) GTV6, 6 speed, BLACK W/ black leather...is this a really a Hyundai? The car is sleak and perfect for a young person without a family to tote around. Not so much fast as quick...good accel. Get Ultra 3 package and you're ready to roll. My carhas been in the shop 4 times, les then two months old. this time its still in the shop. Its been 31 days. Im making payments on a car i cant drive. Its frustrating, it really makes me thing twice about the reputation of this company. |

Great sound..not with the radio but with CDs, the subwoffer makes its it sound really good. Lots of room up front and nice handeling etc...
Weakness:
The cluctch, it breaks easily....back seats, the case over the engine cant see the good stuff ;-) Great Car gets lots of looks ect. But man oh man! My tiburon's clutch broke with in the first 400 miles! i was comming off highway 101 and i couldnt down shift. I couldnt even move the dam shifter! You know how embarressing it is to have a brand new tiburon gtv6 and have it f'en break down on an offramp! people driving up in their good reliable cars looking over at me and laughing. i waited for 2 hours for the dam tow truck and that was it. im still waiting for the repairs! If its going to take more then 2 days im demanding a new car. I had that car for 3 days!!!!! ANd ony 400 miles and it breaks down... how pathetic is that! Tiburon
Strength:
- Peppy 4 cylinder.(I wish they had the V6 in 2001!!!) - Car design, smooth ride - (My last car was a 1996 Chrysler Sebring. It was a bigger car, it cost me more even though it was used, and it didn't ride near as nice!) - And, last but certainly not least, the 10 year, 100K mile powertrain warranty, and the 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper that comes with all "NEW" Hyundai's.
Weakness:
- Leg room in the back (Not a big deal to a single guy with no kids) - My advice to prospective buyers.... - Buy a new one, not used. You will proably have less headaches, and a new one will only cost you a couple grand more than a used Tiburon. - Make sure to get it loaded! I have every option on mine. It is black with a power moonroof, CD/tape player, power everything, cruise, air tilt... The only thing I didn't get was leather interior, and fog lights. (I'm not a big fan of leather(hot in summer, cold in winter), and there isn't a lot of fog in Ohio!!! Well, this was my first BRAND NEW car, and I have few, if any complaints about it. I purchased the car in December of 2000. In February of 2001, the check engine light came on. Took it in, and go it fixed. Turned out it was just a air intake hose that had some blockage. Then, in August of 2001, the radio quit on me. Took it in, and got a brand new one put in. And that is it. I have had the car now for almost 2 years. I change the oil every 3 to 5 thousand miles, and after driving the car over 36,000 miles in less than 2 years, I am extremely satisfied with it. For the money, you get one hell of a nice car. And lets remember, back in the early 80's, everyone thought that HONDA'S were junk boxes, but look at them today. Hyundai is and has come a long way in the past 10 years. And with the warranty, you can't beat them. Strength:
Looks better then a honda and will blow a civic away.. Original looking drives nice fast what you can do with mods on this car amaze me. comfy
Weakness:
cup holder haha.. I always have big gulps anyways so they wouldn't fit. I'm not so much into the ashtray.. The antenna.. I swapped it out with a cute lil black bendy one.. I've had this car for over two years. It has taken be back and forth from Cali to orgeon a number of times without an issue. The only problems it has had are a result of iffy work. When I had the viper alarm put in they drilled through the airbag. That was 3 days in the shop. The struts went bad but at this time the car was five years old so that's normal. When I lowered it the tires I put on it where to big so I gashed them when I hit a pothole. The car won't start sometimes because of the alarm. But like I said, they were't familiar with tiburons so they wired things funky. The car has an excellent push.. It accelerates nicely... but it accelerates a lot better after you take it out for a few miles.. It looks sweet as candy dropped with low profiles on it. My car makes civics, preludes and eclipses look like @#$ after I lowered it and put some nice wheels on it. It does have some squeaks but the odd thing is they weren't there when I was stock.. they happened when I lowered it and put 16' wheels on it. I bought it with a fosgate system already installed so I have no idea how the stock radio sounded. There was a slight whistle but I put in monster cables.. fixed that. There was a recall in the tank but I brought it in and they gave me a new lid.. The service people have been nothing but nice.. They fixed the air bag situation for free even though it was a indie alarm installer place that did the damage. Did I mention the girls love the car :). There is a message group on msn dedicated to tiburons.. You'll find the majority of them have minor issues... Maybe it was the 2000 model that had issues.. I think quite a few of the bad reviews were done by honda fanatics just lying to death and back tho.
