Strength:
Great exterior design, VALUE, V-6 power, side air bags, takes reg. gas, designed for upgrades and aftermarket tuning, slick interior, Fat 17 inch. sport rims and tires, 6-spd, not trendy, warranty, many sport and luxury options w/Utra sports III packge, pwr moonroof
Weakness:
blindspots(takes familiarity), stiff racing suspension(not for faint of heart or backside), pure horsepower, m.p.g. I was in the market for compact sports car. I dreamed of Toyota Supra Turbo. But alas they are discontinued and not very practical. I looked at the competition: Acura RSX, VW GTI/Passat, Celica GTS, US makes. Either too common, overpriced, just not appealing. At the Toyota dealership, I sauntered next door to the Hyundai dealership, and I heheld the silver GT-V6 and I was in love. Great flowing curves with an aggressive, omnipotent design, mounted on low-profile performance tires. I soon did more research and test driving and decided to buy it. I have the top of the line Rally Red GT-V6 w/ultrasports III. It is pure Grand Turismo without the king's ransom. It has it's quirks, but pluses far outway. Strength:
Quite ride great sound system good handling sharp looking
Weakness:
gas millage could be a little better I checked out the 2003 Celica and 2003 Tiburon, the Tiburon seemed like a lot more car and it came pretty well loaded. Rides like a dream! can't find a thing wrong with it. I got the GT model, the V6 has plenty of power. Engine does not seem to work hard, not like the Celica that had to be reved up to get the power out of it. I am surprised how well made the car seems to be. Similar Products Used: 2003 Celica |

i should have got a manual I was shopping around for a new car. I had looked everywhere and couldnt find what i wanted. Then i decided to look around on the internet. I looked for a while and then saw the new tiburon. It caught my eye and i wouldnt settle for anything else i went and test drove the 4 cylinder and the v6 the v6 was a lil outta my price range so was going for the 4 bannger. So i talked to the salesman and we worked out a deal. I was going for the blue one. They didnt have it that day but he said he could get me one in two days. So 2 days went by and i was on my way, well to make a long story short the salesman was jerking me around for about 2 hrs. when i decided to speak to the manager and he made me a deal i got the fully loaded super silver v6 for $18,400 out the door and i couldnt be happier it drives and handles like a dream ill hit 110mph and not even know it. i love it |

poor transmission poor engine i purchase my 03 tiburon in july an love the car,but at about 500 miles the engine started to misfire at start up in morning took it to dealer for inspection. could no find problem, so dealer said to drive it so i did. i also ask about high rpm at 70mph, the engine ran at 3200 rpm at 70 seem high to me. hyundai said this is what the engine is to do for power, i said the manual five speed transmission is gear to low for highway driven. i went on vacation in september,an return home from a 1200 mile trip two day later engine stop running, car has been at dealer for one month, dealer can't get car started. i am waiting for hyundai to buy car back.i will not buy hyundai again, don't buy 03 tiburon big disappointment. flywheel way to heavy, car has a weak (stock) clutch system, begining of first gear pretty slow, tops out pretty low (112), I just got my tiburon 2 1/2 weeks ago I going in friday to have the clutch replaced, stock flywheel is way to heavy, tach drop is extremly slow, the flywheel pretty much just fell apart on my slips out of 1st and 4th gear, begining of 1st gear very slow, stock brakes not sufficiant for weight, any parts you replace don't replace with oem stock clutch very weak no grip ( I think the person that had the car before me rode the clutch pretty hard) was very impressed with medium end of car on test drive (still impressed)so far its been a good car, as long as nothing else goes wrong soon Similar Products Used: Kind of similar, 93 pro stock drag camaro, 2000 z28 camaro, Honda civic, 300z |

You already know... it's a Hyundai. Beautiful car! Very sporty, catches everyone's eye. You know the old saying, Caveat Emptor? It means BUYER BEWARE. I wish I had thought of that 5 months ago. Now pending lemon law litigation for a buy-back of my first (and last) new car. Date purchased: 4/24/02 Service Visits: 5/02/02- Lights not flashing every time when the remote entry door lock is locked. "Passive" technology car alarm more like Passive-Agressive. Alarm sounds at the drop of a hat. ALL THE TIME. No problem found- returned in same condition. 5/17/02- Contracted spoiler installation as part of the purchase agreement. Wrong spoiler installed- correct spoiler on manufacturer backorder indefinitely. Not fixed- told to live with the wrong one until a new one could be ordered. 6/12/02- New spoiler installed via removing the trunk lid and switching it out with another guy's trunk lid. Back of the 4-cyl car now labeled GT V-6. Heat gun used to remove sticky labels. Paint inspected by District Mgr on L and R rocker panels as it WASHED OFF at the car wash. 6/27/02- Center console vent slats broke loose (like I could get my fingers in there to break them...), gear position indicator disk on the shifter knob broke off leaving a pointy screw sticking into one's hand while shifting. Car out of commission for two days being repaired. 7/8/02- Car out of commission for one week while L and R rocker panels were repainted by a contractor. 7/22/02- Found out the L rocker panel was never repainted- car out of commission one more week for repainting. 10/10/02- In for an oil change, sunroof recalled- new motor and triggers installed. R rear speaker rattles- no problem found. Car pulls left when driving- no problem found. Car alarm STILL not being passive! NO PROBLEM FOUND-COMPLETE REFUSAL TO FIX SINCE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AT THE DEALERSHIP...didn't anyone mention they had to LOCK the car to set off the alarm?!?!?! If you're in the market for a pain in the neck, then this is the car for you! Otherwise, look into the new Celica's- I hear they're pretty nice, and you have the satisfaction of being able to DRIVE your vehicle and not some loaner. Last Hyundai I'll ever own- but not the last one Hyundai will have to buy back! Save your money! Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
Fast, smooth, aggressive suspension, acceptable gas mileage, sound system loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss, very easy on the eyes like a beautiful athletic woman, too pretty to be compared to a man.
Weakness:
New car model flaws, very little rear seating, the car is dangerously fast ( I would be worried about my teenager behind the wheel, the car makes you want to speed), paint needs to be reexamined –mine has chipped on the footboard area, both sides. My daughter and I were driving to Toys R Us to purchase a driving game to play on the X Box when we took a short cut through the Hyundai dealership. We spotted the car about the same time, and I made an immediate decision to stop for a test drive. We drove the Tiburon Automatic with the side shift, it was black with leather interior and 15 inch rims, I later found that the 17 inch rims made a big difference in the ride. I love black, but then I saw the silver (the paint is actually called Super Silver) GT V 6 with 17 inch rims and six speed standard shift. We test drove the Silver, while riding my 11 year old daughter pointed out that it had a much smoother ride. We exited onto the interstate and I noticed that the traffic was moving slower than usual, I looked at the speedometer and we were doing 100 mph, I said out loud that we were doing 100 mph and the salesman leaned over and repeated ,”we are doing 100 mph”. I could not believe it. It felt like we were doing 50-60, and here we were going 30 mph over the posted speed limit. Needless to say I purchased the Tib, (I had not taken any time to review the car or examine more options, if you are thinking of buying one, ask for all the options and stick to the price.) I know that Hyundai has spent a reported 325 million to redesign the Tib and it shows, and they did it in South Korea, not Italy like the last Tib model, the curvy girlie car. I have had my transmission replaced not to mention other related parts after I managed to downshift from a high gear to a low gear, something that should not happen. Being that this is a first model year car, I hope that they can work out all the possible flaws. The service that I have received has been good and when they replaced the transmission they provided me with a rental car, a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, I missed the Tib. About a month and a half after I purchased the vehicle I was passed by the new Black Nissan 350 Z, believe it or not the driver actually pulled over into the parking lot that I pulled into to look at my car. Needless to say I looked at hers also; her looking at mine was validation. I have gotten a lot of looks in the Tib; many looking amazed once they find out it is a Hyundai. To wrap it up, I love the car, compares nicely with the competition, hopefully all the kinks will be worked out, and maybe, Hyundai will be the next Honda or Toyota. Great look Good sound system.
Weakness:
Back is reallly tight, cant put two sixed adults cause it will be very uncomfortable for them. I have had the car for 2 weeks and so far I am very happy. The car has a great look and it quite a smooth ride. I have been always scared of Hyundai's but I decided to jump in and try a 4 yr lease with the se. The gt was a little out of my price range. But comapared to my previos car the civic si, the tiburon has much more spunk and power and I feel the difference. Similar Products Used: civic si 1998 |
