Do yourself a favor and don't waste your hard earned money on a Tiburon. There's too many better options out there. And this car will depreciate like wildfire. Within 2 years, the car will be worth maybe 1/2 of what you paid probably less. For about the same price or less than a Tiburon, you can get a Mazda Protege ES, Mazda Protegespeed, Acura RSX or Sentra SE-R. All way more refined and will give you world's better reliability and more fun to drive than this overpriced Hyundai. Oh yeah, the Tiburon is ugly too. All these reviews of them are from people who just purchased the car. Wait 2 years and see how happy these owners are. I'm not a Hyundai basher but in all honesty, the Tiburon is an inferior attempt at a sports sedan. Get a Protege. It drives 10 times better.

Strength:

fast, and handles great.

Weakness:

Have had MANY problems with sunroof motor & power window motors. Also the tires that came on the 17' wheels gave me alot of trouble and I ended up having to get new tires at about 12,000 miles. They wouldn't keep air in them and I had 2 blow outs with in the first few months. I am very unpleased with what they consider bumper to bumper work. When the warrenty is up I will have to get rid of it because I won't be able to afford everything that breaks every month.

I love the car. It looks great and handles great. Also, not many on the road.

Handles great, looks great, so many options are included in base price.

Weakness:

3 times my daughter has complained that the brakes don't stop the car properly when raining. The last time resulted in a minor collision. Zero damage to SUV she rear-ended. Buckled our hood and cracked area below hood. Dealer said to bring it in next time it rains as this is only way for them to check it out. Of course, it only rains now when the Service Dept. is closed. Accident was 3 weeks ago. Please email tcarter789@aol.com if you have had a similar problem.

I bought this car (Tiburon GT V-6) for my daughter as a present. She absolutely loves it. But see Weaknesses below.

Weakness:

I have had a problem with the paint chipping off. Apparently when i purchased the 5yr unlimited mile paint and interior warrenty, it apparently doesn't cover the paint chipping off for no reason. If anybody buys this car i don't recommend Frank Hyundai in San Diego California

Over all, i have had no problems with this car. It handles well and i enjoy driving it.

Sound System, power, and the options packages. Almost everything is standard. You can't beat the price!

Weakness:

Nothing so far!!

I LOVE this car! I have only had it for two days, but I can definitly say it is nice. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a sporty car, but has no money. I am in college so the price fit well into my budget. And the dealership was amazing, so friendly and helpful. They paractically bent over backwards to finance this car low enough. I love the looks you get because people don't want to believe it is a Hyundai.

Strength:

Great handling Great styling Great pricetag Fun to drive Good acceleration Lots of options Great service

Weakness:

Koreean reliability not as good as some Japanese cars. (Toyota) Minor problems are annoying when the car is in the shop.

Let me tell you how it really is: I was in the market for a sports coupe, and I have to admit the Tiburon caught my eye the first day I saw it. I had already driven a Toyota Celica (boring, to expensive with no options), an Acura RSX (awful handling, very harsh bouncy ride, plastic hubcaps for $24,000??!!), a Mustang (nothing good to say about Ford, worse car I have ever driven), a Nissan SER Spec-V (great car, lots of power and torque, great options, I just didn't want a 4 door). Then I drove the Tiburon. I'm not going to lie and say the car is perfect, it's not, no car is, but the Tiburon is really fun to drive and gets a lot of looks. It handles great and the acceleration from the 2.0 litre 4 cylinder is good. I have had some problems though. The sunroof motor was replaced (recall), the top of my spoiler cracked due to the -40 degree temperature (replaced under warranty) and the rubber molding near the front corner of the driver side window cracked (again due to the cold, will be replaced under warranty). Thank god for West Ottawa Hyundai's outstanding service! I consider myself lucky having bought a car from a really good dealership. My 2 previous cars were Toyotas, and the question that people always ask me is; Are Hyundais as good as a japanese car? No, but they are getting close in terms of fit and finish and quality. The Tiburon certainly does look better than many 2 door sport coupes in the $25,000-$35,000 range. Take my friend as an example, after deciding to lease a $38,000 (after taxes) Acura RSX type S, he was dissapointed to find out that his car wouldn't start in the previously mentioned -40 degree weather. His dealership wouldn't even issue him a loaner car because they only lend cars to people who buy Acura models CL and up. So guess who drove him to the Acura dealership in his Koreean made Tiburon! I guess not all Japanese cars are flawless after all.
