Strength:

Pick-up great, body style the best, great interior. Nothing wrong, may look cheap in some cases, but no problems at all. Factory speakers are great, the deck sucks, but if you go from factory 25 watt to explode 50 watt, the base is there, and you can't turn it up 1/10 the way without shaking you to death. 30 mpg with manual. Manual transy gives great pickup. A $50 proformance muffler, k&N filter, and porformance wires added 27 hp, you definitetely notive about a 18% increase in power.

Weakness:

cup holders :-) hehe, gas cap of course, and it does make a quiet buzzing sound on the dash in the cold when the radio is off. Manual transy is the best. The tibs that have problems, are 95% autos... who would ever dare get an auto on a sports car should be shot!

Just read about. This car is the best if you get a manual. The 2001 is hot. I have done some styling to make mine unique, painted the engine, added chrome trim on doors and wheel covers, fog lamps, and I added a new deck and last week put in 2 10's with a 400 watt crossover amp. I love it. The ladies love it. Is this Hyundai?

Celica, Eclipse. Eclipses suck, and do they have problems and in the shop. I know of almost no one that likes their exclipse if it is over 3-4 years old. Celica, people like, they have a few more complaints, ie, blind spots. The windows are like 6 inches tall, and it is hard to see out of the new ones. A basic model gt celica, costs $5k more, and I burned my uddy with his that has a 2001 gt basic celica. He paid more, and it had the same horses (till I upgraded) If you want to spend $10k more, maybe the celica, but then you are in a whole new price range and might as well go with the camaro! hehe, but the tib is still better :-)

Strength:

Nice style. Great Steering. Good Mileage.

Weakness:

Constant break downs, bad bad bad transmission, replaced it four times, also replaced the transmission control computer. Brakes went at 40,000 miles and had to go into shop three times before it was fixed. General maintenance support from the dealers was very poor.

Weaknesses say it all. This was a poor vehicle with lousey service support. The only good feature was that the warranty did pick up a good deal of the costs during the 31 times the vehicle was in the shop during the 46 months we owned it. BEWARE, this red Tiburon is NOW in the used car market.

Weakness:

A little cramped
Seats annoying to adjust
Why didn't Hyundai ever fix the cupholders??
Seatbelts a little annoying

Very sporty car for the money, although I haven't had it that long!. Much sharper looking than its competitors. The best interior I've seen. Quick get-up-and-go.

Strength:

exterior and interior styling is way cool. I have an automatic and it shifts gears smoothly. Doors have a solid "thud" when closed. I don't know anything about engines, but it makes a nice humm when it's running.

Weakness:

I have the moon roof and I'm 6' tall, so there's not much headroom to spare. The cup holder is placed wierd so that if you have a can of soda in it, you cannot adjust many of the radio controls.

So far my experience has been great. From the sales man at the dealership, which is no small feet to find one that does sound like he wants to rook you, to the service department (no problems, just had the alarm system put in)to the finance department all was great. I never felt pressured, the car spoke for itself. And it spoke volumes!! I would recommend this car to anyone who cannot afford a jag or beemer or fancy shmancy car, and still wants a cool car that they can afford. It's trouble free, stylish, and zippy without being too much power that you cannot control the vehicle. It's awesome

Strength:

Good Looks (even though I prefer the 97-99 exterior style more!!) The interior of the 2001 is much more stylish than those of old!! The Premium sound system is great for the loud music enthusiast and with a few add-ons, the hard core loud music enthusiasts can make the neighbors' houses
shake :) Hyundai has also standardized alot of the features on the new 2001 models (the spoiler is no longer at an extra charge - among other things!!)

Weakness:

Don't be fooled by the great warranty - it's there because you'll need it.
Also, Tiburon interiors rattle alot ...i suggest you leave the volume cranked on the radio, otherwise the rattles will drive you nuts!!

Although the Tiburon has a great warranty and low price tag ... you must weigh the pros and cons. I would advise investing the extra $5,000 in a better vehicle that will save you the trouble of a Tiburon.
The 2001 is my second Tiburon ...I had the 98 for 3 yrs and it was nothing but heartaches and headaches ...I decided to give Hyundai the benefit of the doubt (i really do love the style and ride of the Tiburons) and hope that I just got a bad one the first time around and boy was I wrong. I have had my 2001 for only 9 days now (less than 600 miles) and my check engine light has come on 2 times. 1st time dealership said nothing wrong ...must've been a "fluke" where the engine thought it wasn't getting enough gas. 2nd time, code says now the engine's not getting enough fuel under hard acceleration - The dealership has now had my car for 2 days (have been consulting a hyundai specialist) and still can't figure out why my engine "thinks" it's not getting enough gas. Now on to my last Tiburon (note - I am not even listing ALL of the problems I've had!!)
My 98 Tiburon's ignition wires were arching at only 20,000 miles and all of the trim on the doors had to be replaced not once - but twice (the 2nd time due to the incompetency of the dealership) The gear shifter and dashboard and trunk of the car rattled incessantly and the dealership claimed there was just no way to fix that (that was of course after having my car for a week and tearing the entire dash and gear aparts to see inside) - they actually made it worse!! My heater motor squeaked liked it had caught a mouse and this time the dealership just couldn't find the problem. There was even an instance at about 25,000 miles in which my 98 had to be towed to the dealership since it would not start ...i was told it started fine for them - yet they kept my car for 2 days and would not let me see it ...hmmmm ...doing work they didn't want to invoice to backup my complaints?!? I will never know what the problem was that time. My check engine light came on to show that my catalytic converter and O2 sensor went bad, so that was replaced and 2 weeks later, my check engine light came on again ...sooo ...i traded it in with the check engine light on, the engine knocking, and the car shaking all over...Now only 9 days later, I am kicking myself in the rearend for giving Hyundai the benefit of the doubt. I am already well on my way to having a valid lemon law argument and my vehicle is not even 2 weeks old : ( Please beware and know that the hassle you may endure may not be worth the money you may or may not save. If you have a Tiburon now ...I suggest you get rid of it before your warranty is up so you do not incur any charges upon yourself!! Don't get me wrong ...I love my Tiburon dearly ..(she's adorable and i enjoy showing her off) ...but she just isn't worth the pain. If you stil decide on the Tiburon, my hat is off to you for your courage and I wish you the best of luck!!

It's a good looking car and if you go down and read my review of my 98 Tib (It's all written in CAPS) and my fight with the lemon law, I won. Nuff said. I love this one. It's red and it has yet to go into the shop for ONE thing yet!!! :) Also it's already got 14K miles on it and still fine!

Weakness:

Cup holders (duh!) The black dots on the rear window edge and side windows don't stick well with tinting... I just found that out!

Now, I love it. Before Nov. 7th, I hated my 98.

Weakness:

friggin cup holders, who the heck thought of putting them there????????? HUH??

Strength:

I love the looks it gets and people wondering what it is, A lot of fun to drive with the manual. A lot of options for a reasonable price. Not many of them on the road compared to other cars in it's class (sunfire, civic etc). Acceleration is decent for a 4 cylinder. Handles the corners really well, love the sunroof also great clarion 6 speaker sound system.

Weakness:

Rattles a little, the paint is pretty thin, a bigger engine as an option would be great, It's a Hyundai.

Very happy with this purchase. You either love or hate the looks (I happen to love them). People sit up and take notice when you drive by, gets a lot of respect from people (till they figure out it's a Hyundai). Fast enough to keep up with or beat any other car in it's class. Though it is not a race car, just an economy car in a nice looking body. Get's about 36MPG highway driving with the a/c on. Can't beat the warranty and when you figure the car costs less then a sunfire or civic which both include less options it really can't be beat IMO anyways. If you are on a limited budget but still wish to drive a car that turns heads then this is the way to go.

Strength:

Styling, Handling, Included options, Warranty and Price! Lots of looks from other people and the variety of reactions you get when you say it's a Hyundai. Is that the new Lexus sports coupe? No, it's a Hyundai.

Weakness:

Not exactly a real sports car like a Ferrari (but how many of us take our cars to the race track anyway?)

This is a Hyundai? I have to keep reminding myself every time I stomp on the gas pedal and eat Preludes and Celicas up. This is a total 180 degree turn-around for Hyundai.

With the Tiburon, new XG300, Santa Fe SUV and upcoming GK coupe, I'm almost positive Hyundai will be the biggest car exporter to America, unseating Japan's Toyota and Honda. The Tiburon is without a doubt worth every penny.

Don't listen to the jerks with Celica's or Prelude's, they paid 8-10,000 more dollars for their car. If i had the extra 8 to 10g's to put in my Tiburon, I'd be eating Corvettes!

A FEW FACTS:
- Toyota buys Auto parts from Mobis, Hyundai's parts subsidiary.
- Hyundai just made a huge deal with Mitsubish Motors to supply Auto parts, incl. V6 engines, for Mitsu's.
- Mitsubish's top-of-the-line luxury cars are Actually rebadged Hyundai Dynasty and Equus(Centennial JS350/VS450): see photos of them here on Hyundai's Korean website: http://www.hmc.co.kr/kor/cybermall/cm-subindex0101.htm

That should tell you something. There is a lot of info out there. Do some research then drive one. Oh yeah, pretty good warrenty too! I wish they made a pick-up truck!!!

I used to have a Toyota Celica GTS coupe. What a boring car... Then had a opportunity to drive the Tiburon and love it, and bought it and have been driving for more than a year. This is the best bang for the buck car out there.
