Strength:

ride, price, dependability....

Weakness:

backseat room, oh yes, cupholders.... drinks spill on CD player...

Purcased in ''99 I originally looked at a new ''99 tib, but being 6''3, there wasn''t enough head room (may have been b/c of the sunroof). Tried the ''97 and there was enough room! it had tilt steering too (needed for leg room). Car runs good, has since i bought it. just regular maintenance....oil, tires, filters etc. Nothing major. Car rides nice, little body roll, even at high speeds (people have asked me to slow down before, but the car could definately handle the drive). only complaint would be room in the back seat, but i am never in the back, so i don''t care. It is fine for kids, but it gets cramped when adults get in. I put a stereo in it and it pounds, was pretty easy to install too.

Strength:

Looks, lots of options for price, room for lots of luggage

Weakness:

Dealer service department, driveability problems (fuel, electrical)

Purchased with all options including, 5-spd, sunroof, leather, CD/Tape/Stereo, rear wing, ABS. Had a good experience with the dealer where we purchased the vehicle, but had electrical problems right away. Felt we got a fair deal, and 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty sold us. My wife drives the car and gets lots of admiring looks. The car has developed driveability problems that our new dealer in Reno, NV has no clue what to do about. Car currently has 29,000 miles on it and the warranty isn''t worth much because the service department is wasted. I repeatedly have to suggest the next step in the process, like "why don''t you call tech line". We will get rid of this car as soon as we find another, such as a Honda, Toyota, or Ford.

Strength:

Major bang for your buck. After one year I have had no trouble with this car. Beginning to have very good aftermarket support. Styling is awesome. Fairly powerful 4 banger.

Weakness:

Cup holders in a bad spot, but I don''t use them anyway. The seat belt didn''t retract right, however this was just corrected by a recall by Hyundai.

A little over a year ago I purchased a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon. This car has been just simply amazing. Before I owned this vehicle I drove my father''s Toyota Solora SLE, so changing from a very large two door luxury coupe to a compact sports coupe should have been extremely difficult, but it wasn''t. The Tiburon has pleanty of torque and horse power under the hood for the everyday driver, and then even a little extra. If you are an import racer, you''ll be happy to know that there are many aftermarket parts beginning to appear for the Tiburon as well, as seen in different posts about this vehicle, www.sharkracing.com, www.teamsr.org, www.hyundaiperformance.com. Again this car is just outstanding.

Strength:

Steering, price, speed, features, unique.

Weakness:

Horribly designed cupholders. A friend always had problems getting the seat belt out.

I had my Tiburon for almost exactly 1 year. Never had any problem with it. I got in a really bad car wreck and the tiburon was totalled. The wreck could have been alot worse but the Tiburon saved me. Great car and great price. Waiting for the 2003 model now.

Strength:

performance very good even for an automatic, nice styling, and comfort even for me.

Weakness:

The ever so reported cup holder

I am a six foot six male and fit very well into my wifes car. I have always had good luck with all of our hyundai''s, this is our third. I am pleased with the performance and comfort. And the silly little thing will out accelerate my Ram pickup for the first two blocks. It''s fun to drive, I worked for a Dodge dealership and there is more room in our Tiburon than a viper. Great car.

I am on my second Tiburon. With my first one, I was run off the road and rolled my car. The car was safe and did not crunch, even after being on its top for 20 minutes.

Strength:

Just look at it. The 2002 Hyundai Tiburon is worth waithing till February or March.

Weakness:

The only weakness I can see is if they alter the look or options for the American market, IE: take away the dual exhaust outlets or V-6 or something else thats cool.

I usually go for American, but liked the looks of the Tib so gave it a shot. The test drive impressed me, and the price made me a believer. Was going to buy a new Tib, but then I saw pics of the new 2002 model. This may be the sexiest looking car for 2002, I can''t believe its a Hyundai... A FREAKIN'' HYUNDAI! I love that car. And I here 200 HP V6 with a possible 6 speed tranny, sweet. And the kicker, Dual exhaust outlets (probably single exhaust back to the exits) But finally a balanced rear end, single exhaust has never been a mark of performance. Finally an Asian car company gets it right.

I''ve never owned a foreign car, but the 2002 Tiburon may just be my first. I still love American cars and have no complaints about build quality, its just that Tib has got it all.
