Hyundai Elantra GT
Strength:
Well designed and constructed, tight 5-speed, great interior layout and design. Wonderful brake response (4 way discs), and great suspension ("european spec").
Weakness:
Low quality paint, cheap carpeting/finish of cargo area, not much low-end torque. Great little car- unique, solidly built, fun to drive. We''ve put a few miles on it already, and find ourselves more satisfied every day. We''ve had a wide variety of used vehicles before, but this is a great new car for first timers! Style, reliability, standard equipment, and price.
Weakness:
AM/FM/CD radio has some problem with AM reception. Rear seatbelts needed to be adjusted. This is the best little car I have ever owned. I have over 60,000 miles on the car now and love it just as much as the day I drove it off the dealer''s lot. I have had very few problems, mostly just maintenance. I am in the market for a new car again and I have been seriously considering the new 2002 Elantra GT. Hyundai has come a long way. I also owned a 1996 Accent that was a very solid car. Strength:
not bad styling for an economy car. Build quality seems solid. Not much noise intrusion. When the car is idling it is so quiet that I often think the engine is off. You get so much for so little.
Weakness:
None so far besides the fact that some rich little girl driving her Bimmer rear ended me last week, then sped off. Thank god for the strong rear bumper, i only suffered an almost indiscernable dent in the bumper. If I ever find that girl, she''s toast.I am a bit worried about how this car fares in a year as i heard hyundais don''t last very long. I only intend to keep it for 2 years nonetheless. Nice car. Well built. No flaws in the shut lines. Nice quiet engine and good power to boot. Stereo pretty good for a car this price. Overall interior design makes sense and is quite tasteful. Overall design seems to have taken cues from Volkswagens and BMWs. Similar Products Used: Tried 2002 Honda Civic, compared to the Elantra, that car is totally overpriced. The base civic, which is pricier than the Elantra, doesnt even have a Tachometer on it. Also tried the Sentra, but Sent |

Strength:
good looker,nice interior space,cool sound system,great dash.
Weakness:
the little car that could but they never took the time to refine the damn thing. This car is as good as it`s dealership and by that I mean how willing they are to admit that the car has faults and the car has lots. For a new car it makes alot of funny little cranks, you do get front speaker rattle and the engine on start up sounds like a diesel pump that needs to service,it has a realy nice sound system i.e` if the speaker stops ratteling. Elantra GLS
Strength:
Reliability (in my experience, anyway), smooth ride for a small car, lots of extras for the price, engine power.
Weakness:
A small car ought to have better mpg. I keep having to tighten the radio antenna. I have had the car for nearly two years and 33,000 miles, with no major problems or breakdowns. A transmission gasket was leaking and was replaced, and (strangely) both rear window motors malfunctioned within three weeks of each other (replaced under warranty). Otherwise, I enjoy driving the car, it feels zippy in traffic, and has maneuvered very well in a couple of dangerous situations. I get about 24 mpg in the city, and 28-30 on the highway (usually carrying a full load). Driver position is comfortable. The front end design took awhile to get used to, but I like it now more than the newer Elantras. Similar Products Used: I sold off a 1992 Plymouth Sundance to buy this car. It was not similar. |

Hyundai Elantra
Strength:
Stylish look, economical, very little maintenance required.
Weakness:
Gas mileage isn''t one of its greatest features. The hyudai elantra has to be one of the best cars I have ever driven. Besides being economical, it carries a "classy" look that is very unique. On a daily basis I travel about 50 miles, and over the past year I required minor repairs. The engine runs beautifully and quiet, giving a comfartable and enjoyable ride. Personally, I think the elantra should be number one in its class. It is a brilliant car. Similar Products Used: Toyota Camry |

.5 Hyundai Elantra GT
Strength:
Feature content: 140 HP; 100-watt CD; PW, PL, PM; leather seats; alloy wheels; discs on all four corners for less than $15k. Versatility: hatchback carriess big items, back seat very roomy, plenty of interior storage space. Performance: decent off-line and passing power (still no Porsche, though); good fuel economy; handles well.
Weakness:
Stock wiper blades are crummy. Stock Michelin Energy tires leave much to be desired. Hatch assist handle should be on the outside of the liftgate. Mast antenna sometimes interferes with unloading cargo. This car is the best deal anywhere under $15,000. Combines good looks, decent performance, versatility and economy in a very affordable package. The comprehensive warranty is a bonus. I bought one of the first Elantra GTs back in June and I''ve put 8,000 trouble-free miles on it since then. It''s my daily driver and handles my 50-mile round-trip commute with ease. Averaging 26 mpg in city driving, 33 highway. No mechanical troubles to report. Abslolutely wonderful car. A home run for Hyundai. These cars are still rather exclusive - if you can find a GT you will most likely be the only one in your town driving one! The Elantra GT is the first Korean car I''ve owned and the third imported car (others were Subaru and Suzuki) Similar Products Used: Comparison shopped against Honda Civic, CRV; Ford Focus; Toyota Corlla; Nissan Alima, Sentra and VW Golf/Jetta/Beetle. We bought the Hyundai becuase it offered the most for the dollar. |

nothing right now I purchased my elantra in July , have never had a foreign, or small car before. as of right now, I absolutely love this car. It rides smooth, great gas mileage, easy handling, great stero system, just everything about so far, I love. I have always had larger cars, and wanted to try a smaller model. I only have 1,400 miles on it and I hope I don''t change my mind, maybe I should not bray so soon. I hope I continue to brag about this little car many months and years from now. Strength:
Price, option package, driving pleasure, and warrenty (though haven''t had a chance to test this)
Weakness:
Very low volume on the alarm. no remote entry for the trunk. I hate the fixed antenna. I just took my Elantra over the 1,500 miles mark and I could not be more happy. I have got to say that I love this car. I got the full package (keyless, alarm, moonroof, CD/6 speakers) for an incredibly low price and was treated very well by the dealership. i took some ribbing from my co-workers about buying this car, but after they saw it and found out the price and warrenty, three of them are looking at buying Elantras. About its looks: it looks great, I get stares and thumbs up all over. IMHO it is one of the nicest looking cars under 20K. My last car was a 91 honda Accord and even though it hadmore initial pick up, I like to drive the Elantra more. I like to drive fast (it must be part of my job) and I average between 80 & 90 MPH, but usually get up to 100 when there is no trafic, and the Elantra rides like I''m doing 65, with no vibration and little engine noise.
