Strength:

Great gas mileage. Good stereo. I was surprised to learn that I didn't lose much going up a steep grade.

Weakness:

Too small for big adult. I find this car very, very hard to clean both inside and out. The floor carpet is cheap and holds all kinds of dirt which is hard to get out, even with a powerful vacuum. Don't hit a big pothole with this car, I'd hate to see the outcome! In town the car doesn't handle very well as there's plenty of over steer coming out of turns, etc. On the highway the ride is acceptable.

Great looking small car! Not made for a 6 footer like me though! But I'll humble myself and drive it while I am getting my $'s in order.

yeah right

Weakness:

dents so easily you swear you were driving a tinfoil car . The paint chips off easily . oh yeah its two years old and its got rust all over . and the transmission problems are the icing on the cake..

well I thought that hyundai reputation had changed but I was wrong, like others I was pulled in by the warranty and low price . My wife and I both drive this car we are a young family so we were looking for a solid economy car . This car was pretty much fine until it reached about 48000 miles . I brought the car to the dealership because my transmission was slipping ..they had the car all day and replaced the pulse generator , two weeks later the tranny is slippning again. We bought the extended warranty that includes a rental car if the vehicle needs to be serviced ...yeah right I havent seen the rental car yet and all we get is the runaround from lia hyundai here in albany ny . Do not be fooled by the positive reveiws on this pos the reveiws are for cars that are fairly new. This car is the worst vehicle I have ever owned and I regret the day I walked into the dealership to buy this car . We are seriously thinking of trading this car in at a loss just to get rid of it . Please do yourselves a favor and stay away from hyundai they have the worst customer service around and the dealership mechanics are terrible. I have had my car in albany at he dealership 4 times in the past year and they have never once fixed any of the problems we are having. Just do a google search on the 2001 accent and transmission problems to see what future awaits anyone stupid enough to beleive hyundai's worthless 100,000 mile warranty hype .I HATE THIS CAR AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH. Do not buy from lia hyundai in albany ny

Strength:

good gas mileage, dealership is great

Weakness:

resale value (better money selling for scrap) really bad radio, scratches and dents easily. not really reliable . been towed five times in 60000 miles and now down again and out of warranty

presently have 62ooo miles on it. great dealership . have had several problem spark plug wires twice wheel bearings three times. maintance calls for timing belt to be replaced at 60000 mine went at 61000. really poorly built car, to bad because if they had any other dealership, i would buy from them again. but not hyundai ever ever again worst radio i have ever had, broke down today no spark, wish i had bought a used japanese vehicle instead at least it would be worth something now, dents easily, scratches easily. when u figure in costs such as plugs, timing belts , brakes, tune ups and end resale value you really dont gain much by buying a budget car like this. when u see the resale value it makes u sick may be more valualable for scrap than what i could get for it friend of mine bought one and had a accident. and his was totaled , he had a four year note PUT 2000 down and now he owes 4000 more on his note than what they gave him as a settlement, and this vehicle was less than two years old.

Strength:

Great gas milage - avg. 31mpg city and highway. Looks good. Fast enough engine for normal person driving.

Weakness:

Paint sratches easily, as well as interior.

Only been driving it for a week, but I love it! Looks great outside and in, very spacious and comfortable (for a compact). Accelerates well with the GT engine, can't speak for the base model. Drove over the cascade mountain passes last weekend and it performed excellantly. Automatic transmission over-shifted a few times while going uphill for long periods, but I'm sure that would be better with a 5-speed. Trunk is spacious and 60/40 folding rear seat is nice. CD system sounds great. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase so far.

Strength:

It's great on gas!! I can get 200 miles on $16.00. I like the roominess in the back and the trunk is big! The exterior shape is cute too.

Weakness:

After going on a 700 mile trip I've noticed that my trunk has something loose because it makes noises now. It does scratch easy on the inside and very easy to break the handles on the inside. It gets scratches easy on the exterior and indents.

I am so happy that I got my car. I'm only 16 years old, and a lot of people tell me how much they like my "new" car, and it's great for me, I wouldn't want a huge car anyways. And a lot of people think it's pretty awesome that I drive a manual. :)

Strength:

Great for space and a single couple. Great on gas and fun to drive.Very sporty and looks good considering the cost. Seats are comfortable

Weakness:

dents so easily and paint is so thin transmission seems poor and acceleration up hill is not fun. gaudy ugly interior and panels inside scratch easily. Stereo is poor quality and upgrading to CD is horrendous.Extra mats are upwards to 80 that just say Accent. The power locks dont lock the hatch either which you can forget about and the hatch could be opened and car could be very easily stolen. Have to manually lock hatch

I think this car looks great and I fell in love with it when I saw it. The gas mileage is fantastic, when gas prices are low, 20 bucks will fill the tank.I have had numerous transmission concerns and I have gotten the runaround from the dealership as to them taking a look at the car. When starting the car after sitting all night, it is very jerky and once it reaches 30 kms, it wont budge unless you hammer on the gas. THis happens every week and then goes away. Dealership never seems to be concerned. It is under warranty of course still but I am sure that they will discover the problem after the warranty expires. It is a great highway car if you are not going above 120 kms and not passing anyone. I have not had any major concerns otherwise. Very reliable and great for city driving. Great amount of space, back seats seem bigger than Cavaliers and Sunfires space. I am at 37000 kms and having problems just not. I would strongly recommend not leasing this vehicle and buy it instead as it is not worth the extra $$$$ you will pay in the long run

-great on gas -peppy -roomy

Weakness:

not enough oomph when you really need to acclerate, but what can you expect from a little engine like that

This little car is great. The car is peppy, great on gas, stylish and affordable. The thing I love the most however, and as corny as it may be, is that I can back this thing up into any parking spot. I personally found other cars such as the Echo and the Sunfire sometimes difficult to see where you are going when in reverse but my Accent is perfect. It is known as my little "puddle jumper" and the "bubble car". I love it.

Strength:

Cheap, no major mechanical problems after several yrs and lots of driving, not bad to look at.

Weakness:

Thin paint, you can feel the extra "pull" on the engine and slower acceleration when driving with 3 passangers, but what do you expect with a small car?

I love my accent. It looks more stylish than a metro. I noticed the exterior dents and chips easily. I have several small, "mystery" dents that can not be explained. However, it drives smooth and quietly. Sometimes when I go over 80 on the Hwy, the car begins to vibrate alittle. Originally, I bought the car for myself, but my whole family ended up driving it all over the place, so it got plenty of miles without any problems. One time, the car did not start when I went through a big puddle, and the water blew a fuse, but the warranty covered that. All in all, nothing fancy, but a great car for the price! Everyone used to say Hyundai makes junk, but cars like this help improve the company's image!
