Strength:
well, it sure looks nice and worked good for about 3 hours.
Weakness:
MANY problems, unrealiable even after two days. Get this- I have only owned my 2001 Accent for TWO DAYS and im already returning it to the dealer. It has huge problems that I guess the "safety-inspection" didn't notice like, lets see- IT ACCELERATING IMENSLEY BY ITSELF DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS?! or maybe they didn't notice the fact you could HARDLY break because the Idle was running up to 5,000 rpm at full stop. (this is an automatic car) It is unreliable even after just two days! UGH! What was my baby for about 3 hours turned into a car from hell that brought all the problems with it. I loved the car when i test drived it because the problems are not constant nad I did not notice any problems until I went to stop at a red light and my car suddenly locked up and started to rev up and when i pulled over, it suddenly started jerking into huge acceleration when my foot was no-where near the accelerator. I loved the look, the feel and I'm so sad that it turned out to be so problematic. I have been reading around tonight looking for simular cases and found so many simular problems with this car. I do not think this car is a good buy for anyone, its horrible made obviously. |

Strength:
Great milage. Can go extended periods without oil changes. (13,000 +) NOT RECOMENDED THOUGH)
Weakness:
A little too small for my 6' 4" frame. Need to lean the seat back 3+ notches to fit. Car's value depreciates the instant you sign the paperwork. Paid 10,000. Now worth 3250 according to www.kbb.com I have driven this little Hyundai to work and back for over a year now at it still works. I have the base model (L), manual transmission. AM/FM Cassette (NO CLOCK?????) I drive 150 miles a day. I get an amazing 41 miles to the gallon. I use standard unleaded. The book says to use medium. I use 85 octane. On 13 Gallons I can go 412 miles. I have put over 55,000 miles on this car in 12 months and it still is going strong. I have been up to 13,000 miles between oil changes and the engine is still good. This car can go great on the hiway. I usually do about 82 MPH to and from work. I work nights. Just recently put new Pirelli's on it. (P3000's) Similar Products Used: NONE |

*great gas mileage 13.00 can go almost 300 miles *good looking car considering it's a 95, *i get lots of compliments on the color and style of it *fairly peppy, can go about 85 before it gets scary *fun to drive, feels like a go cart
Weakness:
*molding gets wavy, which can be fixed with superglue *paint chips easy and dents easy *transmission downshifts hard into first when stopping, which i was told was a defect of almost all accents i love this car. i've had it almost nine months, and only had to take it to be repaired once because of the last owner not taking care of the engine, specifically changing the oil. it cost almost 500 dollars to have the engine cleaned of all the oil that was caked everywhere. part of the 500 dollars was a 100 dollar transmission fluid change, which was regular maintenance on a car. the only problem i had with my hyundai was the ugly design on the seats, but i fixed that with seat covers on both the front and back seats, which cost me nearly 80 dollars, which wasn't too bad. i had to replace the visor on the passanger side because the plastic began to peel away from the mirror and it looked like someone had slashed into the visor and glued the mirror into it. i went to the junkyard and purchased two used visors for 10 dollars. i also had to superglue some of the black side molding back to the car on the inside that had taken on a ripple effect over the years. it has held up good so far, and i only my fingers stuck a few times. the car sits pretty low to the ground, and when i went into a dent type thing in the road going across a street i scratched up under the front end pretty badly, however it is not noticable because that is underneath the car. one great thing about this car is the excellent gas mileage. i get an average of 34 mpg. 40 on the highway if i go on a trip. it is pretty peppy considering the small 1.5 engine this car has. it has no problem staying up to 80 mph, it just might take a while to get there. it's very easy to work on, and to take apart. a cd player can easily be substituted for the radio. the speakers have a pretty good sound for stock speakers. i replaced the back ones, however, because they were missing when i purchased the car (i got a discount of 80 dollars for this).this was definately worth my money for a first car. it has nearly 73000 miles on it and is still running great. |

Nice looking & WAS reliable till I hit 100,000 kms
Weakness:
maintenance at the dealership is very very expensive! Overall very good & reliable till I hit 100,000 Kms. Maintenance schedual very very expensive & Dealer ....less then honest!!!! & Likes to twist words & sell lot's of parts!!!!! @ 112,000 Kms had to replace fuel pumd due to fuel wiring harness burnt. Also have to repair burnt wiring connectors & extremly expensive....kinda getting scared now. When I purchased it I took all the options & extended warranty, paint & rust protection did all the recomended maintenance & still end up paying so much for maintenance. Now at 100,000 Kms I changed all the belts & water pump as receommended & the I start having intermittent problems with my fuel system. 3 tows later & finnaly they find the problem fuel pump & fuel harness defective & needs to be replaced. $$$$$$$$$ have not got the bill yet but could go as high as $1,500.00 oh boy!!!!! SO MUCH FOR CHEAP RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION!!!! MIKE DUPUIS Similar Products Used: Ford or GM in the past & looks like I will be retunrning |

Nice, cheap car for college students.
Weakness:
All the problems it comes with. My first car, a 1988 Mazda 929, never had so many problems. I`m a full-time college student and needed a "newer" car to travel back and forth. I bought the Accent because it was cheap and it looked nice.I`ve had to take my car to the dealership countless times and the problem never seems to get fixed. Those people actually had the nerve to tell me that the car had no problems. It was either the cold weather (Hello! In Miami,FL!?)or in my head. Now I`m in the process of claiming the car as a Lemon....But it`s a lot of work and I really don`t have time for it. I really wish I knew before hand the problems that came with this car, and the bad customer service. |

Strength:
None.
Weakness:
Everything. I bought this car as a mean to commute but it was a big mistake. Very unreliable and constantly not running properly. I had many repairs done to this car (Transmission replacement being the biggest) and did not help much. I do not recommend this car to notbody but the very same people that builds it. |

Strength:
Yeah right!.....
Weakness:
Me, for buying one. This car is an insult to human technological progress. I had this car for 6 years (1996 to 2002) and I had every problem you can think of. Transmission, alternator, water pump, front bearings, various sensors, ignition module and other things that escape me were replaced to no avail because the car still ran like a dumpster with an engine. This car always had no power and I traded in last year for a Toyota Echo which in comparison is like a Mercedes. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK, it will run fine for the first year or two but then it is (most probably) be a downhill venture. For the extra $2000 buy a Toyota, Honda or Nissan, but STAY AWAY FROM Hyundai. You have been warned..... Similar Products Used: Self flushing toilette and it was more reliable. |

Strength:
Styling is nice for it's price as are the ride and interior comfort. Although it is not Lexus quiet it's not bad for the price. Radio has a nice sound. Again, it's not Boise quality but what do you expect people?
Weakness:
Could use more power but mostly it is adequate. Front cupholders are kinda small. Seating material a bit difficult to properly vacum. Some stuff has to be removed by hand. When I bought this car my '95 Cavalier( which was a huge piece of junk ) was just about to expire with 116,000 miles on it. So, I needed a cheap reliable car to get me through till I can afford one I actually really wanted. The Hyundai came to mind mostly because of it's warranty and low price. I have not been disapointed so far in spite of what I've been reading from other reviewers here. It kinda surprises me as a matter of fact since I've spoken to other Accent owners around here and they like theirs as well. No, it's not a Honda Accord nor a Toyota Camry but neither did I expect it to be. Just wanted a reliable economical car which was kinda fun to drive and fairly comfortable at the same time. At these the Accent does not disapoint. As a matter of fact I've owned two Toyotas before and this car ranks right up there with them. As far as my experience I highly recommend it. Just don't expect it to be something it isn't. Similar Products Used: Chevy Cavalier, Toyota Starlet, Eagle Summit, VW Super Beetle. |

Great gas mileage. lots of hatchback space. cute and sporty.
Weakness:
Parts and labour are expensive. Whole radio console malfunctioning. All makes of cars have their problems, there is not a perfect car out there. I'd buy a foreign car any day before american. you get what you pay for. it's small and perky, i can outrun those other foreigners anyday. sometimes it's not the car, but the driver and i am fully comfortable with my Accent.
