Price, mileage is awesome at up to 700kms on a tank of gas in summer, size - fits anywhere. Highly reliable. With back seat folded down, you can fit tons of lumber in the back!
Weakness:
I drive 200kms a day and find it a bit loud when the back seat's down. It's light so passing transports are a pain on icy highways. Shifting could be smoother. I would definitly recommend it for the long distance commuter such as myself. I save tons on gas. I've put over $100,000 kms on it in under 2 years and the only thing that broke was windshield juice sprayer! No other repairs were needed except when I hit a deer...but she bounced right back (the car did, not the deer.) Similar Products Used: My '85 Honda Accord had over 300,000 kms on it...I'm waiting to see if my accent beats that. |

Strength:
Surprisingly comfortable for a cheap car.
Weakness:
Engine isn't terribly powerful, but that's to be expected in a car this size. It's light, so it isn't great on slick surfaces, but if you just take a little extra care you should be fine. I'd recommend this car for anyone looking for a reliable vehicle at a low price. I haven't had any major problems with it (other than having a headlamp burn out and losing the gas tank cap) and it is still running very smoothly. Similar Products Used: '87 Ford Escort. So far [knock on wood] I've needed no repair work done on the Accent. By this time, the Ford had broken down several times. Much superior to the Escort. |

Strength:
The sporty look, the cool color and the stereo I installed.
Weakness:
I had to replace the headlight switch since the brights would come on whenever I hit a bumb, when I had my regular headlights turned on. Also, it seems this little car has a mind of it's own sometimes! Once or twice it didn't start, and one time a very interesting knocking noise sounded as I accelerated... but once the car warmed up it was gone.. could have been the spedometer cable rubbing against the lining.. I dunno. Alsom=, this car is very easy to dent/scratch. I have some body work to do on the left fender!! And it is expensive without comprhensive insurance! Well if I had a chance to buy another car, I'd buy a truck. That way I wouldn't have to worry about using chains on the road when it is snowing. This little accent slides all over the place! Also a word from the wise! Make sure your chains fit tight and when you hear a knocking sound from the chains, STOP! I tore out my left wheel well cause the chains broke and I continued driving. There goes 300 bucks down the tubes when it comes time to repair it. Similar Products Used: This is my first car |

Strength:
Affordable, gets you from Point A to Point B, handling is exceptional, body of car looks good, gas mileage not too shabby, breaking isn't bad, console is arranged pretty well, heat and air is quick (because of the size of the vehicle), easy to drive and park anywhere due to it's size.
Weakness:
This isn't my car, but my sister's who bought it on a limited budget. I've been driving this vehicle alone for 3 months (I don't have a car since the transmission is busted on my old one), and I'm disappointed overall in this vehicle. The lack of horsepower (92-HP) is a pain on highways (you really need to step on the gas), gear shifts are sometimes off target, going uphill is a great challenge (especially on long, highway types), engine is loud and overworked at high speeds, I'm 5'11 and leg space is inadequate, rear seating is OK for kids not adults, seating is rather uncomfortable on long drives, metal sheeting on body seems very flimsy (especially for the trunk)almost feels it's going to snap, not enough trunk space (I'm a golfer) I actually have to think how to fit it in, tires are rather small (kiinda scary during winter), very poor trade-in value. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't recommend it if your looking for a "fun" car to drive or a car that would last you for a long period of time. But to get where you want to go, it does the job. This car is designed to be driven till it's wheels fall off since it's not worth trading in at all. The car will last for a bit with Hyundai's warranty plans. But I wouldn't say that the Korean company is bad overall, my uncle has a Sonata '00 and it runs great with a V6, very smooth ride. I'm thinking of getting an Elantra 2001 for my first new car (the car I mentioned with the bad transmission was a used one, big mistake). I heard great things about the new redesigned model, more standard features in it's class, less noise from engine/wind, strong engine compared to the Civic with 140-HP, and a good price for what you are getting. For another $2-3,000 more you can get a bigger and more powerful Elantra 2001 instead of an Accent GL, I believe it's worth it with the warranty too. It doesn't hurt to try. Similar Products Used: Civic - another compact car, at least it broke the 100-HP barrier, reliable, good quality, it like lasts forever, bigger cargo load, runs better (slightly noisy engine but tolerable), but had problems with CD/Stereo (skips). |

Strength:
It's a spunky little car with a stick, not much power, but it responds nicely and corners good and tight. It's as light as hell, brakes are decent, and mine gets almost 41 on the highway (about 28-32 in the city). It fits well in tight parking spaces, and the hatchback can fit tons of stuff.
Weakness:
It could use more power - maybe 120 hp instead of 92 - but I have a lead foot, which makes up for the difference. However, it will noticeably complain if you have a few friends in the car. Also, the stock tires, 13 inch, are tiny. I recommend upgrading to 14, if only for winter. It will slide all over the place on even light ice - when it snows in Boston I look for alternate transport. It's cheap - I haven't had any real problems with it in 11,000 miles over about a year and a half. Similar Products Used: My stock Accent with a stick is comparable in acceleration to a loaded Civic with an automatic. |

Clutch sticks, dents easily (frame and windows). And please please don't touch the sider mirros. They break easily are the parts are on a barge from Korea somewhere. I bought the Accent out of desperation. Couldn't afford anything else new. This is a very loving vehicle, it loves the dealership more than me. Within first 3000 miles I had a new radiator and a new clutch. Car spent more time with the dealer than me. Clutch still sticks and God forbid I even have to climb a hill. I'd probably have to get out and push it. If anyone knows a way to trade that sucker back in for a new model, let me know. |

Nothing. Nothing at all. Well, maybe I could sell it for scrap, but I'm not sure if there's a big plastic market these days. But it's kind of cute. A good paper weight, maybe could be considered an objet d'art, a tribute to my own idiocy.
Weakness:
Don't get me started. I bought the car because I was a starving student who needed to get to college. The dealer told me he had bought the same car for his college-age daughter...I guess he didn't like her very much. My (automatic) car was back in the shop within the month because it wasn't shifting properly when I accelerated; they told me it was because I needed an oil change. I guess I missed the part about the 800 mile oil changes in the manual, sorry. I had them check out a few other problems, namely that whenever I had my headlights on and used my left turn signal or when over a bump, my bright lights came on and were extremely difficult to turn off. My service tech told me that this (and the fact that my brakes squealed, and the fact that the check engine light came on randomly) were normal aspects of Hyundai ownership. A few months later I was in an accident... "luckily", my airbag didn't go off, because it probably wasn't under warranty anymore either. I've since experienced the joys of slipping from third down to second on a busy highway, being told that storing error codes is "too complex" for this car to do, and leaving my car for weeks with incompetent mechanics who "put parts on order" and can never seem to understand things like "my car will not go abve 10 mph---you can try it yourself" or "you disconnected my headlights the last time I brought my car in for service. you can't tell me that they're not still under warranty." I've often wondered if Hyundai manufactures their employees, too, or if it's just the stress of carrying the torch of Hyundai dignity and quality. in 6 months been to the dealer 4 times for knocking coming from the brakes. Poor acceleration, bad blind spot on drivers side, tires need to be changed for winter, windows are hard to put down I would not recommend it because I have owned 2 hyundai's, gone through 4 transmissions, who knows how many brake parts, altenator, fuel pump, etc...
