Strength:

Strengths for the del Sol include its reliability, saftey, and economy.

Weakness:

The only weakness I can think of is that it only has 102 horsepower, making it a slow excelerator.

I''ve driven back and forth for a while from Austin to Houston for the past 2 years now, living in Austin and attending Rice University in Houston, and I must say that the del Sol has lived up to its expectations and more. When looking for economy, the del Sol is a wonderful buy if you can get it under $5000, which, unfortunately I didn''t. Yet, when looking at reliabilty, the first thing that sticks out is that its a Honda, and as we all know, nothing beats a Honda. Also, when looking at saftey, we see that contrary to popular beleif, the del Sol is a very safe car. The del Sol had a 4.3 out of 5 saftey crash test rating. Now looking at this in retrospect, the 2001 Ford Mustang, a much larger car, had a 4.4 saftey crash test rating, proving that bigger isn''t always that much safer. Also, in a personal experience of mine, while driving in Austin on MLK Road, I got side-swiped on the driver''s side, fortunately not directly at the driver''s door. But surprisingly, I only suffered from whip-lash, proving the del Sol''s crash saftey. Who knows what would have happened had I been in a less safe automobile.

Strength:

I''d say, to shorten up the long list of perks, the del Sol''s most attractive features include economy, style, saftey, and reliability.

Weakness:

The weaknesses of the del Sol are that it only seats 2, and the somewhat lack of horsepower in the standard S Model.

Well, unfortunately, I''ve only had a del Sol, ever since I was 16, so my standards on an automobile are much higher than others'' might be.

You can beat a V8 mustang like mine if you fix it up by putting headers, nos, intake, exghast, racing rims adn low prifile tires, and racing suspension for the turns. and it is h ella light so it flys

Weakness:

the freindly look makes it seem slow and freindly, and they stopped making it

This car is the bomb. It may only have a 1.9l but you can still fly(or u can be like me and get ride of that and but a 2001 honda civic si ingine in it) tust me just put and intake heaers and the speed chip this thing flys!!!

theres nothing close to the del sol except the S2000. The del sol is a one and only and is a great japenese classic.

Great Ride, Good Handling for stock. Nice sound to it with a Intake on. Top is light and easily removable. Put 17''s on it and it handles like there''s no tomorrow.

Weakness:

Lacking the DOCH VTEC, no trunk release. Speedometer needs to be larger, I''ve maxed mine out already.. shhh.

I haven''t been able to drive this car for very long since I live in the fridged weather of Vermont. But when I first purchased it in the early fall, I had the chance to see what it was capable of. It may only be the 1.5l, once you get your RMS''s up and keep them up, it''s not too bad. Something has me a little confused though seeing how I can keep up with other Si civics and my friend just bought a 2001 Civic EX with the SOHC VTEC, and I can actually beat him, strange huh? Well, with a new engine, some minor mods after that, I think this car will be one to keep for a very long time, and best of all, my girlfriend LOVES IT!! :)

Everything... two seats (don''t have to drive anyone else around except for my girl), retractable roof, awesome handling (a front strut bar helps a lot), 4 wheel disc brakes, great gas mileage, back window comes down, VTEC power, power windows/locks, extremely comfortable seats, low position, high resale value, ability to fit anywhere, great stereo system (for being stock)... and so on.

Weakness:

Only two things: squeaky roof at times and not enough days in Chicago to drive with it off.

This thing is awesome!!! I never thought that a car as small as a Del Sol could outrun anything, and I mean anything, on the street. After swapping the stock intaked with a cold air --- watch out this thing sounds louder than a mustang. You pass people and they all start looking around trying to figure out what just happened.

Fun fun fun! Everthing is perfect about this car. If you see one for sale and don''t buy it someone should shoot you!

Weakness:

Being only 5 foot 2 inches with shorter arms I cant take the top off myself. Beware girls you will need help! It''s also not good if you car pool with people alot as it lacks the seatage.

I love this car. There isn''t too much else to say, but what the heck... I love this car. It gets great gas milage and is super fun to drive. Since mine is only an S it does lack in the power catagory but have a manual I can easily make up for that with control of my RPM''s. It''s great on sunny days and you get the full convertable feeling along with the coupe feeling. All my friends love it and nevermind the two seats, how often do you have more than two people in a car?

Strength:

Reliability, speed, very fun with top off. Never had any type of fluid leaks.

Weakness:

The roof makes noises when you hit bumps. When it rains really hard a little water gets in. This is normal for targa/convertible cars.

I am very happy with the 1993 Honda del sol SI. First thing, super reliable!! Listen to the story of this car (not an easy life). I purchased from a repo place and the car had obviously experienced some uncaring hands. It had 100,000, the interior had a lot of missing or broken pieces, no radio, trunk lock was all messed up, no antena, etc. But as far as engine and paint this baby looked new. The engine was solid as a rock and the paint was perfect with a lot of that micro-glitter still visible. I previously had a 1988 Mazda rx-7 convertible, and although it was a good car, it was never as reliable as the del sol. The car now has over 150,000 and the only major problems I have had was 1fuel injector and the cv joints. Other than that this car still needs nothing. Also, I forgot to mention, they are fast, and with a few simple mods you can make them very fast, without messing up the smoothness of the ride. If you get one, be sure to do these mods that will make your sol feel like a super energized speed machine. First, get rid of that stcok air filter system and install a cool air intake system. You can even make it yourself and get the instructions on line. And last, install an msd SCI with an blaster 2 coil. Lets just say you will smoke a lot of Boats. :)

Well, duh. The roof, silly. Also, after driving two cars of equal size (an Integra and a 240sx), I must say, I can feel the distinct difference between them, and really prefer RWD. However, in this car (unless the weather is crappy and I want FWD anyway), being pulled instead of pushed is basically unnoticable. Two more things: The trunk is enormous; I moved a coffee table in it last weekend. Find another sports car that''ll do that. Also, the little bugger can go 300 miles with just ten bucks worth of gas. Wow.

Weakness:

With the roof off, it is not a perfect convertible, and with it on, it is not a perfect coupe either. Albeit slight, there IS cowl shake. As a comprimise, it is incredible, but for purely either, you could do better on both counts. It seats two people. Yes, it does seat them comfortably, and perhaps bailing on car pool duties isn''t all that bad, but it''s a serious consideration nonetheless. As for the ''93 and ''94, there''s no trunk release inside the car. Acceptable if you rarely go in the trunk, but c''mon Honda, the car was designed from the begining to have the trunk opened like four times a day. That was just plain stupid.

The difference between a rag-top and a coupe is like the difference between night and day. But, the difference between an assembled del Sol and one with its roof in the trunk is like dusk and dawn. I love this car. I used to own a 240sx, and to those shopping for a coupe, I highly recommend that instead. However, after awhile, I got convertible fever. I bought a 240sx convertible, and was quite displeased to say the least. Top down, I loved it. Top up, I hated it. No inbetweens. The bottom line is that I needed two cars. Or one del Sol. Unattracted to it''s body style, but intrigued by the roof, I went looking for one last month. Weary of it''s FWD-ness, and uneasy about it''s toy-like size when I found one, I took it for a test drive anyway. Then, I had to admit it - I really liked driving this car. Even with it''s measly 125 horses, it''s FWD, and it''s back-seat-less cabin, the darn thing is fast, responsive, and comfortable. Plus, it''s roof comes off. I was sold. I haven''t owned it long, but I have yet to be dissapointed by it. Every day, I like it more, and another friend grants their blessing on my decision. And it''s only January! April, here I come.

Safety!!! Excellent commuter car averaging 42 mpg. Attractive and SO much fun to drive!

Weakness:

Sounds a little rattly at lower speeds but with the top of and stero going you hardly notice it.

SEMI VS DEL SOL - DEL SOL WINS! Purchased this little red car on an impulse one summer afternoon. I was not in the market for a "sports car" but was drawn into the dealership after seeing it on the front line. I had only had the car for about 5 months and actually LOVED it! During a normal home commute last week, I was strcuk from behind by a semi truck changing lanes. The impact launched me and the car directly in front of the semi truck where I was struck broadside by the semi truck who was traveling at approximately 65 mph. Nedless to say, I''m still around to tell the tale AND I drove the car home that night and the semi was not drivable and needed to be towed away! Thanks to Honda for making such a quality product! Who''d have thought a Del Sol could take on a semi and WIN?!?!? It doesn''t look real pretty right now but it sure saved my life!
