Strength:

Nimble and responsive handling! Great gas mileage ~30-35. Simple and stylish interior. RELIABLE! Small, great for squeezing in small spaces. Pretty roomy for a small car. I am 6 feet and I still have room to spare. Alot of aftermarket parts.

Weakness:

underpowered, distribor problems, Stiff suspension makes for a harsher ride. Makes alot of creeking and clunking noises.

Poor man's sports car. Extremely fun to drive, handling is superb, cornering is awesome. Very cheap. A solid, low miles CRX SI shouldnt cost you more than $5000. Underpowered, not much pull. If you are low on cash, and need a reliable, great mileage fun to drive car you cant beat the CRX SI. There is no comparison in its class

Strength:

The little thing is awesome on gas, peppy, and easy to fit a nice sound system that has great accoustics. Lots of storage space (even with sub-woofers) and lots of cool little storage compartments. Looks cute. great hadling. 5 speed is pretty good up-hills. lots of room for two people

Weakness:

been told its a "CHICK CAR"no cupholders, only two seats can suck sometimes, rust like a bad boy, bumpy ride(mine is anyway)FAST ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU WANNA RACE BUT SLOW ENOUGH TO GET YOUR ASS KICKED WITHOUT SPENDING MONEY ON AFTERMARKET CRAP(it can kick some 80's volvo 240dl ass though!(inside joke)i hear they are great cars, but i bought mine from my moms ex-boyfreind and i ended up getting it new brakes all around, new tires, new wheel cylinder, NEW TRANSMISSION, new cooling fan motor, and a replacement engine. so far its taken me to LA and bback which is about 8 hours of driving, but the little bastard gives me lots of little trouble all the time. if you get one they are cool but make sure the mo-fo before you took care of it.

good all around car for a teenager, or a cheap bastard. im a dude and everyone tells me its a chick car so im assuming its real good for college girls. Mines been good and bad, just by one thats been well taken care of.

Strength:

Looks great with the skirt package
A lot of power with the right modifications
beautiful handling
very easy to work on and modify

Weakness:

You can only pick up one girl at a time

I put this car together from scratch, and it was very well worth it. It attracts so much attention. It looks 100% like the red wings west crx.

I also have a 1991 Civic hatchback cx and a 1997 Civic coupe. The CRX is a much smaller car, with handles a lot better in and out of traffic. It also turns more heads.

Strength:

It looks soo cool! Even compared to todays cars.
The engine never gives up! (with proper care that is.)
Engine has somewhat of a "powerful" sound.
LOTS so leg room!
Sunroof is cool. (Si only, hehe.)
VERY responsive steering!
5-Speed gets MOVIN'!
Many more... Oh, and the Si has a bigger engine, sunroof, different interior, an "Si" logo (hehe,) amongst other smaller things.

Weakness:

(HEY! These are all pretty minor things. Every car has its problems.)
Rust. Not too bad. My car has very little, like around the license plate.
Struts for rear hatch go out after years. Plan on getting new ones (cheap.)
VERY limited visibility for "first-timers."
Area around temperature selector cracks. Be careful.
Leaks around sunroof and hatch after years. Easy fix. Don't worry.
Acceleration in 3rd gear SUCKS! But gettin' to 3rd is FUN!

The above pretty much says it all! Just put a nice stereo in it and enjoy! Or if your like me, put in a stereo and make it look cooler and faster (which is easy to do!) GO FOR IT! I reccomend this car!

Strength:

I like the style of the body and the size too. I have upgraded by adding mag wheels, sunroof, cd/stereo. It handles pretty good, and easy on gas. I have had no rust, and had it repainted 1 1/2 yrs ago.

Weakness:

Not so comfortable on a long drive.

I have had no problems with the car or the engine. It uses a quart of oil in 3,000 miles, and has 130,000 miles. The body is near perfect after 10 years.

Model Reviewed: CRX (DX)

Strength:

- Good Handeling, especially if you beef up the suspension
- Easy to modify, a plethora of after market performance parts
- Very reliable 198,000 miles and still going strong
- Good gas milage
- long gears 4-5
- no rust issues in Dallas

Weakness:

- Bad ventalation
- 92 hp
- rear drum brakes
- long gears 1-3

In 1990 Honda did not give their U.S. middle-of-the-line CRX a moniker it is simply known as the CRX. I put DX at the top of this review to alleviate any confusion for those familiar with other model years. On the down side Hondas are notorious for their poor ventilation. In the Northern U.S. this is not an issue, but try driving through Texas in August when it is 110 Fahrenheit and the problem becomes readily apparent. Because the engine has only 92hp using the AC causes a massive impact on performance as would an automatic transmission, but if you are using an automatic tranny in a 2 seater, you should probably have your head checked If you are used to 6 or 8 cylinder performance cars the lack of torque and power will become a nuisance, but compared to other 4s this is a pretty good engine. My stock engine has 198,000 miles on it and is still going strong. Most Honda engines are good for at least 250,000 miles, just be sure to maintain them and don’t forget to change the timing belt every 80-90,000 miles. . I plan on putting in a 130hp JDM ZC engine, which can be acquired and installed for less than $1700. My CRX still turns heads even with a body that is 12 years old. If you are looking for a reliable commuter car that can be easily upgraded, this is your car.

Similar Products Used:

1988 Honda Civic 3dr HB: The CRX is much more fun to drive, but not quite as practical.
1983 BMW M3: No comparison the BMW is a much more powerful, much more refined and much more expensive car.
2000 VW Beetle: I perfer the VW transmission for lower gears, but the CRX doesn't have to work as hard when pushing speeds over 90mph due mostly to the CRX having longer gears.

Strength:

this car takes turns like noting else. the horse power is amzing for a four cilider. and it is a dx mind you not all of the extera stuff. i have had this car for 10 years and the paint looks pretty good just take care of it. it also holds up in miner colisions i have had a few in this one

Weakness:

this car did good the first 5 years i owed it. when it got to about the 60 thoused mark i had a lot of problems with it. the trans axle needed to relaced with the timing belt. at about 70 thousand the i had to replace the exaused fan. the the engine light came on and i was haveing prolems with the rpms jumping i took it in up untill i traied it in for my ford f-150 laueite pickup. the techs could not find the problem with it and i was tired of putting money into it i only got to about 105 thousand miled before gettin reed of it. but over all it is a good car.

over all this is a good car exceped the problems i stared running into in the 60000 mile point over all it is good up to this point the power is good and so is the handle
