Weakness:
Well not so much power but i am working on that, the cup holders arent that good and it has no place to put anything ( like cell phone wallet.) Omg i am so impressed with this car it isn't even funny. I had a 87 honda accord with 200k miles on it and she still ran like a dream until i got in an accident. So i knew i need a honda. I got her really cheap and she's been so great to me. She gets great gas miliage looks really nice. Best car i have ever drove in my life. I must say I'm extremely disappointed in my Honda. I've always been a Honda buyer..but unfortunately that will end soon. My 2001 Civic just threw it's transmission! Thank God I was smart enough to buy the extended warranty- because of course, this happened at 49,000 miles (the original warranty is 3yrs/36, 000 miles). The Honda dealership, Miller Honda in Van Nuys, California have been nothing short of helpful. I have had a rental car for going on my 2nd week, which is only reimbursable for the 5 hours of labor it will take to replace the trany- The problem is, the Honda service dept. will not do anything until the extended warranty people inspect the car as well asd the Honda people. THEN they will order the transmission and THEN they will fix the car and get it back to you..! I've jsut been really annoyed byt the impersonal handling of this situation. It wasn't MY fault that there is a problem with the transmission. |

Love the dash lights. They are bright and nice looking. you can keep them on no matter if you have headlights on or off. But you can also dim them or turn them off if you wish.(Don't know why anyone would though.)
Weakness:
Lights on radio does not match dash lights, which is a shame. Radio is kind of cheap, with no adjustments for bass/treble or speakers. I was surprised at how many anti-theft devices are on the car. With keyless remote, if car is broke into, the starter will not engage. Without the coded key,no other key will work and if column is broke and is hot wired, fuel pump will not work. Windows are etched with vin number and radio also will not work if taken from the car without a code programed into it that is assigned to that radio. Car has enough power for us, but maybe not enough power for more of the younger people that want a lot of get up and go. Seats are contoured to give you good support, great for going longer distances. Also has a right side arm rest/storage bin ( A must for any car I buy) Floor mats are full length front and back. Rear seat backs can be folded down (are also locked with a key) Car is fairly quiet although you do get some tire noise coming through. Four way flashers are mounted in the center of the dash, making them easy to get to. Has two cup holders and a covered CD holder for your CD/AM/FM radio. Car is fairly smooth riding for a small car and handles nice on the highway even with a small cross wind. (Haven't had it in the mountains yet.) A/C seems to do a good job up to the high 90's. Takes a little longer in our Arizona 105-110 temp. though. I was also surprised at the longer times that I needed to service this car. Tune up, change anti freeze, timing belt, all over 100,000 miles. Oil change, 5 or 10 thousand miles depending on conditions. Many things are much longer than they use to be. So far, I like the car a lot, if your not a speed nut, I think you will too. Similar Products Used: First small car ever bought. |

not to expensive, very reliable, decent stock sound system, high quality paint, nice alloy wheels, good styling
Weakness:
cupholders suck, windows aren't too great either, could use more power(thought a v-tec would be a little quicker than it is) my civic has been a great car for a 16 yr. old just learning to really drive. the car is extremely reliable. it has been raced, wrecked, and gone without an oil change for 30,000 miles and it still runs perfect. that was after i got the oil changed though. you can put these cars through almost anything and it will just keep running. i love the paint on the car. it is very high quality. the black has blue metal flake in it and is the best paint that i have seen on a midsize car. the only complaints i have are slow acceleration under 60 mph and the lack of decent cupholders. the power windows also have some problems. my drivers window got off track once and i had to push on the outside to roll it up right and one of my back windows gets stuck going up. all in all this is a good reliable car and it will get you where your going. Honda Civic EX Coupe
Strength:
As I said before, I really like the smooth transmission it made. Also, the amount of headroom in the car was key.
Weakness:
Some of the weeknesses I have see would be the horsepower, or lack there of. I had the V-Tech engine model, which boosts the HP from a measley 115, to around 128. Another part about the car that was questionable was the room in the back. Since I need to put the seat all the way back, no one could sit behind me, unless they were circus migets, which would be cool, but that's another story... I just recently bought the '04 Civic Coupe, and LOVE it. I originally had hoped to buy something like the Pilot or CR-V, for its four wheel drive purposes, but the Civic caught my eye. To make a long and boring story short, I took the car out for a test drive, and when I hit the gas, it had a smooth transmission I had not found in simmilar GM or Ford cars. Another thing I really like about the Civic is the headroom. WOW. I'm a big guy, about 6'6 or so, and I fit perfectly in the drive or passenger seat. Good Gas Mileage Roomy Interior Sticks to the Road Reliable Decent acceleration for an automatic Fun to drive
Weakness:
The pause while shifting is a little to long in my opinion. Awesome car.. and i have owned 3 cars previous. I am a college student and tend to beat on things little more than I should, but the honda has stood up to me. Great gas mileage, roomy interior which fits my life and half of the stuff in my apartment, decent acceleration, nice handling, sporty, sticks to the road well(Erie does not have the best driving conditions in winter so this is a big plus). Good price. I loved the dealership I bought my civic from, very personable. My biggest complaint it the fact that when it switches gears (it is an automatic)... it tends to take a little too long for my taste. I have owned all standards previous and may just be used to changing gears when I want. Great Road trip vehicle. Honda Civic EX
Strength:
sporty, good power, good fuel economy. Awesome to upgrade with performance parts.
Weakness:
There is one strange thing. The rear speakers are 6x9 which are fine, but the depth for the speakers are very shallow. To install most new 6x9's you have to take out the tension bars that hold up the trunk lid(when open). I came from driving a 2000 Toyota Celica to a Honda Civic EX (2-door coupe). The power and handling is not the same, however buying performance parts for this car is a sure pleasure. The prices are much lower than the toyota, which means the Honda will be speedy very soon. I like the stock handling of the car and the looks seem sporty enough for me. I'd recommend this car. Similar Products Used: '00 Toyota Celica GT, '99 Nissan 240sx, '85 Honda Accord. Civic EX
Strength:
- Inexpensive to operate. - Good handling, fun to drive.
Weakness:
- Driver side window sticking (probably not Honda's problem anyway). Purchased 1.5 years ago with 65K miles. Now has 82K. Car came with some light modifications. I use it for commuting and it gets the job done cheaply (about 30 mpg) and reliably while providing a bit'o fun. The EX has decent acceleration when the engine is kept at higher revs. The 5-spd shifts well most of the time. I do get the very occasional 'crunch' when going from 3rd to 2nd at higher speeds. Steering is precise enough for me. Handling is great, and all I need for taking on the clover leafs. Ride is a tad choppy partly due to the 205/45R16 set up, but it's a good compromise for grip. Only problem is with the driver-side window sticking and not sealing properly. I suspect the aftermarket door speakers installer might have something to do with it. Will deal with it in due time. Strength:
Strong accelleration. Good handling. A hatchback. Good looking overall. Comes standard with a huge number of extras.
Weakness:
Large headlights are not my favorite. It would have been nice to have had the opportunity to purchase a Civic Si Type-R with the more powerful engine. I probably would have paid the extra money for the Type-R had it been available. The high end Acura RSX has the same engine as the Type-R, but I do not like how the RSX looks. This car has been a pleasure to own so far. I have not owned it long and the car I owned before this was a 94 Geo Metro which served its purpose well, but does not even come close to comparing to this car. Part of my enthusiasim for this car may be that I am not used to driving a decent car yet, but I doubt it will diminish much. I did a lot of research before I bought this car. There are other cars that fit into the pocket rocket category in which this car belongs (Volkswagon GTI, Ford Focus SVT, MINI Cooper, etc...) which out perform it in one way or another, but none of them come close to touching this car's reliability history. This car is safe, handles well, accellerates well and has all of the advantages that come with owning a hatchback (i.e. nearly all of the interior space is useable in a variety of ways, it is short and easy to park, it is relatively inexpensive, etc...). In the U.S. hatchbacks have a bit of a stigma attached to them. I would take a car of hatchback design over a sedan any day. They are way more practical and I like how they look. This car is an excellent hatchback. Similar Products Used: 94 Geo Metro. Many compared to prior Civics Have you ever had to replace a Catalytic Converter on any car you have ever owned? Not me until I purchased a 2001 Honda Civic. 3 years and 160,000 KM old my 2001 Honda Civic DX after replacing $900.00 in parts being the 2 O2 sensors and vent shut valve the vehicle still FAILS the Provincial Drive Clean test and requires a New Catalytic Converter at an additional cost of $900.00 + so a total of over $1800.00 for exhaust work on a 3year old car and the muffler is still the original muffler.
