Strength:
Great gas mileage and 127 is decent to merge onto free ways. History of realibility and safety.
Weakness:
Every one seems to have one.. but i cant blame them at all. I feel in love when i test drove it. The first car i ever bought was a Toyota prius, and i went from this and i dont regret it at all. I bought the prius to save money on gas but when the the car is 25000 out the door.. it defeats the purpose to save money.. and i hated automatic so i was a stupid impulsive buyer. All i needed was side air bags, ABS brakes and gas mileage over 35 mpg and decent horse power. This car is what i was searching for. I almost bought a Corolla S before i test drove this Civic EX. I was in love the minute i took it off the dealership drive way. Very roomy inside (corolla S seemed crammed by a few inches in comparison) and bumpy roads didnt phase the ride much at all. Surpising SILENT when i accel. I think lower Horse Power models get that "motorcycle" high rev sound, but mine is 127 hp. so it handles accelaration (how ever you spell it) very well. The moon roof is very nice... Open it and it replaces usage of AC (unless sun is directly above lol) so there fore you can boost your Gas mileage even more. The interior is roomy like i said. I didnt get any leather seats cuz i could care less. so the standard "lower grade" material is nothing to be sad about. Angle of glass provides very clear view of road. My previous car the Toyota Prius angle is so acute it was VERY VERY difficult to view left of right. youll see what i mean when you ride one. i can go on, but honda is a great buy and you wont regret having it. if your lookin for something safe and great on mileage. REALLY consider these cars and test drive one and see what works for you. Similar Products Used: Corolla S, Toyota Prius, 93 honda Civic |

Civic EX
Strength:
Plush feeling on the road yet handles tight corners rather well, in my opinion. It's a smaller HP output compared to the Celica, but that's why they make aftermarket parts to give it that extra boost. It's sporty looking too with the spoiler and the lines the car has. Great gas mileage, I'm still getting an amazing 32 miles to the gallon going a constant 80 mph.
Weakness:
The police tend to frown on us Honda peeps. I guess cause there are so many of us out there that stick aftermarket parts on. Yes I've gotten tickets for Tint & mufflers. Never had this problem in the Celica. Honda dealer service sucks, they try putting stupid parts on the invoice that the people working there can't even explain, but you have to pay for. If you argue the point you'll pay less. I have over 43,000 miles on my little civic coupe and haven't had a single problem to complain about. I had one of those 2000 Toyota Celicas and it was in the shop so many times before the 36,000 mile mark I got rid of it and bought this car. To compare the performance from the Celica to this Civic is like comparing apples and oranges(honestly). None the less I'm really happy with the Civic and there is far more aftermarket parts to buy for this car compared to the Celica. looks so cute! never at the gas pump (so you have more time to drive!) leg room, head room, and no bump in the middle of the rear floor!
Weakness:
needs a little more pep I have never been a civic fan until I saw one in the beautiful figi blue! Once I got in this car I knew it was the one. I had compared, research and drove many cars and I always came back to the civic. You will not be stopping by the gas station very often in this car and the ex model had everything you could wish for. The factory radio is great and once you start driving you will not want to stop. This car is for the smart buyer that loves to save money yet not give up any extras. Similar Products Used: 96 mustang,98 sunfire,99 X-90,00 cavalier |

Easy to drive Great gas mileage styling Comfortable
Weakness:
A little noisy Handling for a small car isn't as good as expected. It is new so I assume it would be great so far. 1. Interior is comfortable and roomy for a smaller vehicle 2. Heat and Air work great 3. Plenty of trunk room 4.Engine power is adequate. It has something in the range of 115hp. I test drove it before making up my mind as to if it was enough. I think adequate is the perfect word to describe it. The gas mileage is great; I have been getting in the 34-35mpg range. 5. Handling is a little less than I expected from a small car. During tight turns the body does roll a little. I thought the roll bars would prevent it from rolling. 6. The standard CD stereo is a little better than I expected. Plenty loud enough with good base. 7. Noise level in the cabin is good though during a certain engine rev range it does seem to resonate. Sounds a little like a motor-cycle. It's not bad but worth mentioning. 8. The headlights are bright. Exceptionally bright on high-beam. 9. I'm 6' and when I put the seat back it is a little difficult to reach the wheel. When I put my seat up my legs are compacted. Would like to see the steering column come out a little further. This is something that I am used to now. 10. No hump on the backseat floor. Is a plus. 11. The new design of the dash and instrument cluster is great. Large and easy to read. I especially like the colors. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you have to see it for yourself. |

LX 2 door manual tranny
Strength:
Reliable so far. Good looks. Quick if you have 5 speed. Okay sounds. Mine has a pioneer 6 disc changer and cassete. More appealing than sentra and corrola.
Weakness:
Rattles in dash and trunk. Stiff suspension gives a bumpy ride. Too common. Too many around that are raced out and loud and all that crap. I just got my civic a couple of days ago. Very good so far. Just a few rattles in the dash and trunk but I hear those are common. I also read a lot of common problems such as a bad suspension, swaying seats, gear popouts, and excessive wind noise but have not experienced any. Knock on wood. For those of you that want to turn off the AC button when the defrost is on check out this link: http://www.madstatic.com/2k1civic/diy/acdisable/ Im banking that my civic will be reliable for a while. I read in forums that the 7th gen civics has had its problems. I got my car with 49,500 miles on it for $9700 out the door. I think that was a pretty good deal. Civic Si coupe

interior resale value reliability
Weakness:
possibility of getting crushed by an SUV manic depression caused by severe lack of engine oomph I’ve been driving my wife’s 2000 Civic Si coupe w/ auto tranmission for 3 months now. It’s loaded up with all the nice options including CD player, sunroof, power windows and spoiler. In all fairness it’s a decent car: it yields good fuel economy (more on that later), the interior material is top notch, the ergonomics is intuitive, the stereo sounds as good as an econbox factory set could possibly get, and the car looks reasonably sporty with the spoiler and (separately purchased) alloy rims. Basically, it does everything well – when it’s NOT running. The word on the street is this car actually has an engine under the hood. Wow, it sure fooled me. Ok sarcasm aside, I really don’t understand why Honda would sell this car with an automatic transmission. It’s bad enough that they’re equipping a Cdn $24000 car with only 127hp at some insane rpm, it’s even worse when they allow customers (ahem, my wife) to select a slushbox that upshifts like it’s on a mission when the going gets tough. Forget about passing on the freeway, the tranny makes sure you’ll never be able to reach the hypothetical V-TEC power. Imagine yourself as Peter Parker with all your super powers, now imagine witnessing Doc Ock wreaking havoc in rush hour Manhattan, BUT your Spidey suit is in an uptown dry cleaner – you simply CANNOT transform to Spider-man to kick butt, not as Peter Parker in broad daylight anyways. That’s how frustrating driving an automatic Civic is on the freeway – you can’t reach the power that you think you have. Ok, unless you floor it. I don’t even drive that fast (typically 100 to 120 km/hr on the freeway), but I’ve floored the Civic enough that there’s a hole on the floor that leads right to China. Sure, you paid for a car engine, but in actuality you’re just get a pencil sharpener under the hood. Now you Honda fans out there would smugly tell me that with this 1.6 liter engine, you’d win every time at the gas pump. Let me put it this way: the weekly visit to the gas station might make you smile, but it won’t matter when every second driving the car is endlessly frustrating. Everyday I fantasize that I’d wake up one day and there’d be no wars, all races would live harmoniously together, no child would ever be hungry again, and the Civic would be obliterated by a plunging meteorite. I give my utmost respect to those of you who can put up with this sorry car. It’s folks like you that make the world a better place. You guys are like Mother Theresa to the ozone layer and dolphins. But for the rest of us that enjoy guilty pleasures such as horsepower and double cheese pizzas, we’d be better off with torqueier cars with real engines. Try a John Deere. The only best motor in the world. i bought this car roughly almost 3 years ago and i love it. i beat the living hell out of this car such as drifting, redlining, road race everything and everytime i do this it just seems it wants to go faster. it seems to like it. there are so many little things you can do to this car that just make it look sweet, everything JDM of course. if you have not read the new sport compact magazine, they ranked the top 100 sport compacts. number one was of course the evo, but number 2 was 92-95 civic. this is hands down one of the best cars ever made. it will out last any ford or chevy today.... eccept the old 350's, let me tell you... those are beasts Similar Products Used: like no other |

1.6liter DOHC I-4 v-tec with 160hp tight handling amount of aftermarket parts 8000rpm redline v-tec which kicks in like a small turbo at 5400rpm
Weakness:
Honda fuel sending units go out alot it seems I have owned the civic si for 2 years now.I really like the car.The paint is the electron blue pearl which isn't a cheap paint to fix.The motor is the "dohc" 1.6 liter v-tec motor that redlines at 8000rpm.This motor pulls hard all the way to redline. It has 160hp which is 1hp per liter. The amount of aftermarket parts avalible for this car are mind blowing. You could literaly buy a body and build one from the ground up just off of the aftermarket parts.I havent really had any problems with this car other than the fuel sending unit which stopped working. That made it alittle hard to tell how much gas I had in the tank. The transmission shifts smooth with the factory short throw shifter. The car has very little body roll due to the factory rear swaybar and the front strut tower bar. With lowering springs and shocks this car handles even better.I have 55k on my car which on a honda is just starting to brake in.The car leaks no oil.The motor is always clean looking due to no oil leakage.I would recomend a Honda civic si to anyone who would want to buy one. Bright Gauge Panel Good Fuel Economy Nimble Handling VTEC (variable valve timing and electronic lift control, multiple cams) Rear Wheel Drive Light Weight Bright Headlights (Wish they were H.I.D) Decent Stereo (EX only) Excellent Saftey from Impact Excellent Anti Theft Features on 2004
Weakness:
Poor Rain Driving (get new tires) Lack of Power (horsepower) Noisy Cabin (Road Noise) Needs 4 wheel disc brakes (kinda weak) I purchase this Civic because Honda has always had a reputation for supreme reliability. My first choice was to get something Toyota, but I didn't like the styles of the Toyota in my price range. When I test drove this Civic was surprised by the low end torque in 1st gear, the car jumps and peps right away. However, having driven a Turbo car priviously, I realized this car needs some more power because it drags to 60 mph unless you the VTEC by flooring it. The suspension is kinda loose so it feels like you are tilting when you turn hard, but the handling is very nimble due to it's compact size. I really liked the brightness of the gauge panel. The bucket seats are very comfy. The safe I heard was amazing and I realized this when I was rear-ended by a 1994 Chevy Blazer and had no bumper damage at a quick brake slam to bumper impact of 10 mph. I purchase this car with upgrades in mind. If you really want to, you can make your Civic into a horsepower machine for a few thousand more. So far I've spent 300 dollars on a high end air intake system that boosted my hp by 16 and torque by 20 max. My next upgrade will be a new exhaust system that should give me another 10 hp. If sportiness is not your thing, this makes an excellent family and around town car. I've taken it on a long road trip and it still does fine. The car is nice and smooth at 80-90mph and can be pushed to 100, anything after that would be dangerous because of the high and loose suspension. The car does not handle well in rain at all. Take it slow when the road is wet. I suggest buying rain tires if you live in wet climate. For the price, this is an excellent choice. Keep it for life and save money.
