Strength:

Sporty body style, reliable runner, and holds value so well you can't go wrong

Weakness:

Transmission is definitely weak, slips in and out of overdrive and falls into neutral when taking off. Oil leaks Front axle and ball joint

I cannot put this car down. She has some problems, automatic transmission is slipping, lost an oil cooler gasket, had to replace a front axle, but at 206,000 miles this thing is bulletproof. I bought it with 198,000 miles on it 7 months ago and have put about 1,000 miles a month on her and she purrs down the road. When I bought it everyone said watch out for the sunroof it will leak. So far, it's all good. The pwr windows and locks still work, cruise control is awesome, and the body is great. The leather is ripped, that was definitely not something honda took a lot of time with back then. A little rust below the passenger taillight but not bad. I worked at a car dealership and took this car in on trade so I got an awesome deal, only $800. Blue book is at over $2000. I am considering selling her for a newer car with less miles but I almost can't bear to part with this reliable car. Also it has a classic sporty honda look, never goes outta style. I have it straight piped and it sounds awesome, lots of get up and go but I take it easy, don't want to push it. Overall, I have been stranded with it on the side of the road, but I got such a great deal that I would definitely recommend this car to anyone. Love it! It's my little speed racer!

Strength:

Ultimately reliable. ULEV - ultra low emissions. Roomy back seat for adult family members. Trunk space is easily accessible and the back seats fold down to help carry things home from Home Depot. Many convenient touches like the cup holders, a "dual storage" center armrest, storage on the side doors, a sunglasses holder by the rear view mirror. Smooth running engine, quiet ride.

Weakness:

The 4 cylinder Accord understandably doesn't have as much pep as my 4 cylinder Del Sol did. The CD audio system is adequate but occasionally has a slight crackle when adjusting volume. I'm only 5'10" but the rear view mirror sometimes blocks my view.

This is a great car. I don't get passionate about cars so I want a reliable vehicle for transportation. I don't want to have to think about my car, I just want it to do its job. I couldn't have done better. When my '93 Del Sol took me up to 180,000 miles it was nine years old and I was tired of it. It had been so reliable that I was determined to buy another Honda. This base model 4 cylinder ULEV Accord two door with no frills and no options apart from A/C has been 100% reliable. I'm pushing 60,000 miles now, the car is two months away from being paid off and I've never had to bring it in for repairs. Given my experience with the Del Sol and this Accord I'd say I'm a Honda man for life.

Similar? Years ago I test drove a Saturn and a Mitsubishi Eclipse; both were gutless. Prior to my Hondas I had an Rx7 that I just loved. I've driven friends' Grand Ams and have rented various economy cars (Sunbird, Cavalier); those test drives provided adequate warning. The Ford Escort I bought back in the 80s isn't really similar but having endured its monumental unreliability I appreciate my Hondas all that much more.

Strength:

Luxury, fun, pretty, reliable, plenty of upgrades...

Weakness:

Weird little electrical problems, like my CD will skip when it is really cold out, I don't get it. Not enough to sell the car but on a bad day enough to make you curse...

My car is sic, there is not another car in it's class that can compete, on any level. My Accord will take ya. Alright, really, the only mod is a cold air intake, my little 4 banger gets up and boogies when I want it to. Very, very low maintenance. Well, at 111,111 miles I take that back. My keyless entry works about 75% of the time (which is enough to keep ya goin but not enough to make you fix it once and for all). My “check engine light” has been on since 75k, the mechanic politely turns it off for me and says it has something to do with the transmission.?.? At around 60k it would stick in park (the transmission problem, I dunno?) but the dealership said it wouldn’t happen anymore, wrong again. It did, once, at 70k, not since, weird? Honda Accord, the car that fixes itself. Love my ride it is either a work horse or a thoroughbred depending on what you want from it. Minor problems but it will always get you where you wanna go.

Ok, granted I've only had this car about an hour (yes, really), but I took it for a spin around the block and in conjunction with my test drive yesterday - I'd have to say that I love this car. I've been a Honda owner for over ten years now (two Civics) and the "step up" to the Accord has shown me what I've probably been missing all along. Everything is laid out very intuitively and even the little things, like the change holder, the extra bright odometer and the quality of the stereo sound re-affirm my decision to get this car. I'm leasing it for 4 years, but I'd see no reason why not to stay with Honda. It's clear to see why this is the most popular car in America. It's got 160 HP, which is the highest for me (and any of my previous cars) and though it's a 4CL (I got the LX model), it has some real pickup. Put it this way, I have a 20 mile commute to work every day and am looking forward to Monday morning, if only for the chance to really open it up! About the only odd thing about it is that I couldn't find an ashtray. I'm not a smoker and wouldn't let anyone in my car who would smoke, but I know you're out there. Either Honda's trying to tell us something or they just didn't include an ashtray! Like I said, it's not a big deal to me, but others might care. To sum it up, I'm really looking forward to driving this car. It's great-looking (mine is silver with a dark charcoal interior) and has about every option that I could ever want. The only thing that the EX had over this that I cared about was the alloy wheels, but I can get over it. I might have to get used to larger gas bills as the 17 gallon tank is bigger than the 11 of my previous Civic, but it gets great gas mileage so it's possible that it'll even out. In any case, a great car and I can't recommend this car (or any Honda) for that matter, enough.

Wonderful new car for price as expected, per '03-'04 Accord reviews from most sources, except for small but noticeable defects on front, middle dashboard panel. It's noticeably warped in places on it, looks like a manufacturing defect, and would not be a big deal on a car in this price range except for its highly noticeable location - don't want to see it every time driving the car! Checked out several cars on dealer lot and they're on a lot of them, more pronounced on some than others. Also, buyer beware - keep your trustful- ness in check during the buying process. It'll be very hard to find a more trust- worthy looking, courteous, professional group of sales type people than in the dealership dealt with here, but they just would not let us pick an auto from their inventory to test drive! They'll let you test drive the demo (way too dirty to want to buy it), ask you to sign the paperwork with complete assurance from such trustworthy looking, courteous, professional sales people that you'll get a new car in "perfect" condition from their inventory, and well, the car they picked for us had only 12 miles on it but had this very noticeable defect/warps on the dashboard (and engine drove a bit rough, and some occassional but loud rattle). Obviously, did not want to take this car but then, they just wouldn't let us go to their car lot to pick one out AND test drive!!! Just makes you wonder. Fortunately (since paperwork already signed), the next car they insisted on picking out had much less noticable warps on dashboard (drove very smoothly, felt really new, just over 100 on odometer, but still a number of vinyl scratches inside but not located very visibly). Just makes you wonder if these ones being "forced" on you are being done so for some reason. Also, the Quality Control Inspected By portion on the new car release for the 1st car was not signed. This transaction was initiated thru the internet, during area Honda clearance sale, at below MSRP. So: 1) watch out for dashboard warps if any, if this matters to you 2) pick/test one out YOURSELF - BEFORE signing, unless . . . 3) if you can afford it, avoid buying thru the internet and/or on sale

I have been very impress with my 2000 Accord, I have read other reviews and it very hard for me to buy the fact that people have actually had problems on their Accord's possibly because of abuse or a accident that may have happened while in the owners possesion. It could also be that since the Accord is made in three different parts of the world craftsmanship or the suppliers may vary in quailty. I was recommended by Honda de Mexico that when buying an Accord either make sure the VIN# starts with a (J= MADE IN JAPAN OR 3=MADE IN MEXICO) of course if is start with a 1= MADE USA.

Strength:

Decent all round car if you snatch a good one, but not all that great.

Weakness:

Very weak engine and transmission. Poor handling, this car sways a lot in steep curves and is jerky. Overrated reliability, if you like working on cars stay away from this one as parts are extremely expensive and very frustrating to work on. I can think of a couple of thousand of better places that they could put an oil filter. Uncomfortable for larger guys, whether tall or just big. Poor gas mileage for the anemic power output. This car struggles on hills and it's lack of torque is apparent if you aren't in first gear and above 4,000 rpm.

Not a great car in my opinion. To begin, this is my wifes car and I drive this car when I'm not using my truck, a 2002 F350 Supercrew diesel, mainly because the truck is very large for city driving. This is a 2.3L V-Tec and automatic. This has actually been the LEAST reliable car that I've ever owned. The car now has 114,000 miles on it. I prefer to maintain cars myself and change the oil and filter every 3,500 miles, air filter every 10,000, and flush the cooling system once a year. I check all fluids, etc. at least once a week. During the 5 years I've owned this car, it has been miserable for reliability. I've replaced 3 CV axles, the left side had to be replaced twice. And I replaced the entire axle assembly, not just the CV joints. Catalytic converter has now gone bad, it has had the transmission replaced at only 75k. Alternator has been replaced, have had to have the cylinder head replaced due to warping, the car overheating because of a faulty electric fan relay. Alignment has to be done more than necessary in my opinion. As far as how the car drives, the power is much less than impressive. They can list all the horsepower they want, these cars lack TORQUE. They have no power, they're all about gearing and revving to 4,000+ rpm. Transmission is jerky, even the brand new one that replaced the faulty one is jerky during both shifts and coming to a stop. Interior is very cramped (I'm 6'2") and seats are hard and uncomfortable, especially on long trips. I find my legs are always curled in weird positions. Controls are out of reach, the dash on this car is much too large, and the seating width is very narrow. Headroom is barely enough. Gas mileage is decent, but as weak as the engine is I think it should do better. Car really suffers when the AC is on. My older 1993 Toyota Camry with a 3.0L V6 actually got better gas mileage whether in town or on the highway. I'm a bit picky with vehicles, but I am very disappointed in this car as my older Toyota had over 200,000 miles with no maintenance besides normal oil and filter changes, and I currently have a 2002 F350 diesel with over 200,000 miles (runs just like new) and recently sold a 1991 F350 diesel that I used as a worktruck with 600,000 miles with no maintenance other than a pilot bearing for the clutch.

Excellent car now at 131k miles. Only maintenance over std has been the replcaement of 2 headlights and the floor mats (wore hole through the driver's side & passenger side has become quite worn). Even the original tires went 100k. Average 26.4 mpg, often times hitting 30. Looked at 2004's, but the head room and styling is poor vs. 2000.
