Honda Accord
Strength:
Looks nice, drives good, roomy, and I like that so many people rave about them. I like that Honda did not put ashtrays in these cars.
Weakness:
So far, only some minor complaints. I like heated seats, and I can''t get used to the placement of the moonroof controls. My last vehicle was the V.W Jetta with all of the bells and whistles. Although it was a lemon, it had some cool gadgets, but I will settle for durability with my new Accord. Hopefully, I can keep this car longer than 2 years. It seems that my cars only last that long. I really do like this car. Everyone that I know says that this car will last me forever. I sure hope so, because I have not had good luck with any other vehicle. Toyota, Mazda, and V.W have really been lemons. All of these were bought right off the showroom and they were disasters. I am counting on Honda to restore my trust in automobiles. My Accord has proved to be a comfortable car, fun to drive and looks nice. I''ll let you know in a couple of years, which seems to be my record of trading cars. Strength:
great looks, good milage, good power. handing good but needs a tighter suspension.
Weakness:
The transmision coud be sportier. the V6 could have been made to a 5 speed, needs stiffer suspension. the same thing about the NSX. (suspension) I have the LX Vtech I4 4 door MT. Great car I haven''''t had a problem with it for 3 years, and I''''m a rought driver. This car has every pocket option and placement all in the right place. I can''''t complain about this vehical. The power is pretty good stock but I''''m trying to get more out of it. when I first got it 3 years ago there wasn''''t too many performance part made for it yet. But as the years passed there have become more ond more things to put on it. And i''''m getting it up to par in the HP range to saticfy me. I have add some options to it like leather seats and new wheels. I''''m hoping to kit a body kit for it soon. it runs a 16.7 (1/4 mile) not bad for a 4000 lbs car with a 4 cylinder. 2.3 at that Similar Products Used: nothing compares to the Accord if that is the type car you are looking for. no Toyota can hang with a honda. and if you are thinking about an American made car forget about it. all you will have is |

Accord V6
Strength:
luxurious, comfortable ride & seats...good reliability for the most part, powerful engine, good looks, great for passengers and long trips. nice factory stereo.
Weakness:
only got 15 mpg...most V6 and even V8s get at least 18. seats should fold down completely instead of only little hole to carry cargo. I bought this car because I was tired of the death-slow Tercel and wanted some power. The Accord was more luxurious, quiet, and appealing than the Prelude and cost the same, so I bought. The car is comfortable, reliable, and basically good transportation. My main gripes are the gas mileage on mine stunk, and the A/C doesn''t cool for anything. The seats fold down in the rear but only leave a tiny hole to put skiis through. Oh well. Sold for financial reasons, but don''t really regret it. The car is smooth and handles superbly. Oh, and the brakes wore out at 28k miles. Car does ok in snow with chains. Accord EX coupe 4cyl
Strength:
Plenty of headroom, nicely sized trunk for a sound system, easy control placement on the dash, OK mpg in the city and highway, easy to upgrade.
Weakness:
Rear brakes a little slow to react (front ABS is great), sorry excuse for a paint job (don''t buy black unless you really know how to care for black cars!), upholstry (leather or cloth) needs improvement, take-off a little jumpy; lacks smoothness, and all models should come standard with 16" wheels at the very least! I like my Accord despite my friend''s criticisms and jokes about played-out import cars like Hondas and Acuras. But, I bought it with the intention af taking a conservative, sporty family car, and upgrading it to a nicer, faster, more reliable "family car." I think the Honda Motor Company specifically makes these cars to be altered to meet the demand of the import racing scene (its been sweeping the nation, ask yer kids), so I went and did exactly that. I lowered my car, added some 18" BBS wheels, installed an intake and exhaust system, and am currently changing my gears and pulleys. Even a super-charger may be in its future (we put one in my brother''s ''99 Civic SI, sweeeet....) if I find a good one. Bottom line, its reliable, fast, smooth, easy to trick out, and by the way, the V-6 wastes to much gas (I got 220 horses in mine, and gas mileage still kick''s butt)! /Honda Accord EX-L 4-cyl. autom.
Strength:
- fun-to-drive with excellent powertrain, steering and chassis; - will hold its value and not that expensive (27500$CAD = 18000$US); - reliable and tough; - roomy and practical; - good dealer support;
Weakness:
- interior even with leather could be more luxurious (Coupe is better); - paint could be better; colors proposed were not in my tastes, but it improved in 2001; - auto. tranny is harsh when recovering from 10-15mph; - more road noise than my ''96; - Michelin MXV4+ not a match to my old XGT4; - why don''t we have DOHC engine like other continents? This is just another example why Honda has such a good reputation. It does about everything from very good to excellent. I was reluctant to buy my first Honda because of overrated reputation. I still think that Honda name is somehow overrated in general, but it remains a perfectly recommendable car. Reliability was not perfect. After 43000 miles, I had minor issues with seats (twice), a tiny vacuum valve that control an engine support, premature rear brakes (pads). Strength:
generally reliable performance outside of the fix engine light.
Weakness:
Not able to adequately repair pollution control equipment Although I have owned many Hondas, I am having a problem with the fix engine light coming on on a regular basis. It appears to be related to the pollution control system and cost $68 just to look at it. I understand that many others are having this problem and am wondering if there is a resolution. Strength:
- great acceleration for a 4 banger - interior trim is very high quality - chassis is stiff as a corpse - upgraded EX rims are sweet - all controls are well laid out and deliberate in their operation - little to no engine lag with A/C on (in my experience at least)
Weakness:
- 6 speaker sound system is just "okay" - cranky transmission (not a reason not to consider this vehicle) - too much fun to drive... you waste gas I''m loving this car. Gas mileage is not as good as I hoped for a 4 cyl. In fact, it''s pretty much the same as my ''92 Olds Delta 88 and that was a beast of an engine. However, the responsiveness of the 2.3l engine is impressive. The car handles like a dream. You can take a corner like nobody''s business and body roll is minimal. It''s certainly built for the driving enthusiast (who still has to haul a family.) Sadly though, I''ve noticed that the auto transmission has a tendencey to slam. Especially if you hit the accelerator immediately after stopping. The transition is very poor. You have to ease the gas peddle to avoid a good neck jerk. But man, does it ever take off at the line for such a small engine. VTEC really makes a difference. Even with the sensitive transmission, I''d by this car again in a heartbeat Similar Products Used: Nissan Sentra Olds Delta 88 Chev Corsica |

Strength:
Keeps running and still doesn''t use oil. Handles well and has braked so well that it''s keep me out of an accident. Strong for a four cylinder. Interior has held up well considering the milage.
Weakness:
Body rust over the rear wheels, antenna failure, window sticks, dash bulbs out, A/C out, clutch cylinder leaks. I cost a considerable amount to have the head light assemblies replaced. This car has 335,000 miles on it and is still running well. The first brake pads lasted 165,000 miles, and is still on its original clutch, water pump, alternator and hydraulic cylinders. The car runs strong, and has been extreamly reliable. However, it has had a few problems, including engine seals and electrical problems. I suspect that using synthetic oil has helped the engine wear longer, but it may be part of the seal problem. Similar Products Used: Purchase 1979 Honda new, good but not nearly as strong.
