Weakness:

weak bumper

I bought my Accord brand new and it''s great! Reliable and fun to drive. However, it''s not as roomy as my Acura Integra was. The accord holds its value better than any car i''ve seen.

Strength:

Reliability, good acceleration for a 4 cylinder.

Weakness:

None!

A little over 3 years of use and 117,000 miles and it just keeps rolling along. This is the most miles I have ever put on a car without something (and sometimes a big something!) going wrong or wearing out. Outside of regular maintenance and tire replacement, I have had to do not a thing to this car.

Strength:

The ''96 drives like a dream, the same as the ''91 did up to about 190K. Shifts are harsh, but i prefer that to the soupy rev-changing shifts of, say, a Mazda 626 ( I rented one last summer - yech!) It has good power, and although it lacks a lot of the extras (it''s a DX) it is comfortable and we expect it to be a great second car.

Weakness:

1. Catalytic converter is going bad. I suspect this is caused by short trips by the previous owner. Our ''91''s cat converter didn''t start to go until we had moved very close to work and rarely drove it on runs of more than 3-4 miles. 2. The heater temp control knob is so stiff one can hardly turn it. This happened on the ''91 and we kept breaking the knob. It was such pain to pull the console and dash, that we just left a pair of vice grips in the dash. 3. The front side window rubber scrapers went bad on both cars. On the ''91 it would stop the electric motors and even broke the mechanism inside the door. On the ''96, which has crank windows, I can hardly get the windows up or down. I just thought it was interesting that these three items were similar problems on this otherwise great car. Again the dealer has the car and is fixing these things (he''d better or we''ll give him his car back - the last thing we wanted was to discover $1200 repair bills on a car we just bought the previous evening. Lesson - never buy a car on a cold dark night.)

This our 2nd Accord and our 5th Honda. Our first was a ''91 Wagon purchased new. It went 198K miles before 1st gear in the auto trans started to go. We got $2000 (US) on trade-in and felt we got our $$ worth out of it. We just picked up a ''96 DX w/62k miles from a dealer last week as a 2nd car. It was driven by a little old Chinese lady (really! name and service records were in it) and had been immaculately cared for. But funny enough, it has the same three problems that our ''91 had - all of which the dealer is taking care of for us.

Strength:

Nice ride, it absorbs pot holes and dips in the road nicely. Comfortable seats, plenty of headroom in front and back, nice sized trunk, too.

Weakness:

Motor mount went at 107K miles, timing belt has a chirping noise that comes and goes, fuel economy is only 23 MPG average city and highway combined driving and it is in good running condition, no tune up is needed. It''s an automatic, but I figured on at least 27 MPG average for a 4 cylinder. Inner plastic fender skirt blew off on highway for no reason and ripped off the body, breaking my front cornering lens with it. Seats are too low to the floor, and with the LX model there''s no way to adjust the seat height. Sluggish on the pickup when you really need to move. Not a fun car to drive, that''s for sure, more of what I''d call a "grandpa car".

Honestly, it''s a beast on gas for a 4 cylinder. Also, it''s got 108,000 miles on it and I''m a little disappointed that I''ve had to do so much work on it lately. I was always told that Hondas with high mileage like that will do great, even with the mileage up there; that for a Honda, 108,000 miles is nothing.

Model Reviewed: Accord EX V6 Sedan

Strength:

Like other Hondas that I have owned, it can be driven at higher speeds in relative safety. V6 motor was an improvement over my previous 2000 EX 4cyl. The engine feels and sounds similar to my previous BMW. Gas mileage is good.

Weakness:

Unlike my previous 2000 Accord, this car vibrates at speeds above 65 mi. The vibration can be felt on the steering wheel, under the seat and the dash. Tires have been rebalanced three times. The last time it was at an independent shop specializing in high-speed balancing. However, this has not resolved the problem. I have friend with a 2001 Accord V6 LX with different tires and he is also experiencing the same problem. My service manager gave me a 2002 to try out and it also vibrates. My dealer has acknowledged the problem and is still trying to figure out the cause. Otherwise, the typical Honda weaknesses are still prevalent in this car - hard seats on long drives and poor paint quality.

This is my second Accord from the current body style. A good car for the money and I am generally satisfied with the car. However, I have been experiencing a vibration problem (explained in the weakness section) and if it does not get resolved - I may consider replacing the car with another product.

Strength:

Even though this car is a 4 cyclinder... it picks up speed very quickly on the beltway. I am not comparing it to a 6 cylinder. It''s just that its pace is above moderate. I love the luxury that it has.

Weakness:

One comment though... My baby eats a lot of gas. I full her with at least 15.00 and darn, by the time you say "word" the gas is finish. The paint sort or scratches off easily too.

I love my baby. I decorated her with a few tweety here and there. Maybe because it''s my first car, I am so particular with it. It''s a maroon color with sunroof, leather seat, CD, cassette, radio. The perfect place where I spend my lonely nights and days. I bought my car with 37,800 miles, and now it had about 51,300. Darn... and that was only within 2 months. Not that I drive to work or anything. I normally, take my car after school and work and drive all over DC, MD and VA.

Strength:

quality of build is excellent and girlfriends always love it! sexy styling, nice ride, luxurious, sporty, and strong. easily powers over 120 mph. i love this car.

Weakness:

people need to learn how to drive this car. as long as you don''t engage V-TECH too much your gas mileage will be good, but as soon as you start getting a lead foot your mpg will fall to around 20mpg. the factory michelins SUCK! replace them as soon as possible and you will see a big improvement in handling and performance. auto shifts a bit lame but venom module solved that problem.

second review... so far so good. i did have to take it in for a factory recall that wasnt taken care of by the original owner(leak in rear head gasket).no big deal. my original complaints were: not enough low end power and no manual transmission. well i see light at the end of the tunnel. with a tanabe hyper medalion exhaust, AEM intake and a venom 400 control module it behaves like a whole new car it is suffocated by the factory parts. also acura now has a 3.2 litre CL with a 6 speed that will mate with my accord. for those that say accord V6 isnt worth it try again. with a couple of upgrades this thing is FUN to drive and has alotta potential.

looks, quality interior, great refined 4cyl engine, good handling, reliability (solves rattles by itself)

Weakness:

the moonroof doesn''t go all the way bak. and the bridgestone tires suck.

i''m 17 and this is my first new car, not my first car tho. absolutely love it, mine is silver and it looks hella good, take off the front license plate holder and it''s gonna look perfect. the car''s really good, 1 week after i got it, i started to hear some rattles coming from both of the doors, i was kinda pissed off cuz they kept getting louder, but take another week and it started goin away, then totally gone, it''s like the car solved the problem itself, very impressive, brakes were kinda deep and soft at first, but it''s excellent now, i guess it''s just the break-in period. handling is great but the bridgestone tires suck (i dunno but it seems like i''m the only one with bridgestone on my wheels, all other ppl got michelin) gonna change my rims and put on some Toyo rubber. interior is luxurious, i got the leather option. and sux to yo all who got the v6, it''s hella waste of gas and it''s not even that fast. i could have got the v6 but i went with 4cyl cuz it saves me lots of gas money so i can keep being a p i m p without being broke. ha, suckers!
