The 1990-1993 Accords are the best car ever made in reguards to quality, fit and finish and longevity. There is no argument about this cars overall blandness; it is unmistakeably bland as well as boring. Nonetheless, this car is very well thought out from the wipers to the dashboard height. Everything about this car is easy to use, comfortable and effortless. The only thing you have to remember is to change the timing belt every 90K. This is a perfect car for anyone of any age. You can "beat," the car without falter. I have owned 44 cars in my life, and I am only 24 years old, believe me when I say I have seen it all and driven it all. Every product from 750IL's to Pontiacs hanus Aztek. There is nothing out there for any price that is built with more thought than the 1990-1993 Accord. In 1994 they changed the suspension and a few other minor things to bring producation cost down; the 1994-on is still heads above the competition, but 1990-1993 is by far the best Accord to date. These cars are very pricy, considering the frequent high amounts of miles. Do not fear, this car is good for 300k if the oil is changed and the timing belts are replaced religously. This is the only car made from 1970-2003 that I would even consider giving a five star rating.

Model Reviewed: Accord LX

Strength:

smooth ride, excellent brakes, so far no problems mechanically with 80000 mi.

Weakness:

Chinsy seats(they are hard and uncomfortable),the molding and dash look cheap. Bare bones options on LX, no power seats (you have to manually turn 2 knobs to adjust seat which is a pain) or even cd player. Interior light sucks, you have to reach up to the dome light to turn it on no switch on driver side. The stereo volume control is either too loud or too low(no in between) The LX comes with cheap looking hubcaps. The paint is very thin, scratches way too easily.

We bought this car preowned at 79000 mi. My boyfriend has an 86 accord exi and it still runs like a top. I researched quite a bit before deciding on a honda accord. The accord always seemed to come out on top for reliability. For about the same price i could've bought the pontiac grand prix with all the bells and whistles and less miles. I hope i don't regret it. So far the car runs fine. It has the 5 speed manual which is great. For a 4 cyl. it has plenty of power. I gotta say that the seats are a bit uncomfortable and the interior does look a little cheap. As far as the body, it dents and scratches so much easier than any other car i've owned. I don't dare take it to a high pressure hose at the car wash. I sincerely hope that this car is reliable because i really am not impressed with it's looks. I do like the ride of the car, but can hear road noise which is annoying. The visibility is great. The gas milage is not what everyone says it is. I get about 25mpg on a 5 speed and that's on the highway. Lots of room in the trunk and interior. Gotta say that 2 months into driving it, i still wish i would've bought the pontiac grand prix. I sacrificed style and comfort for a bare bones Honda with an outrageous resale value for a car with almost 80000 mi on it. Don't think i will waste my money again on a Honda. I don't know if it's because they started making them in the us or what, but my boyfriend's 86 honda accord is way better in every way.

Model Reviewed: Accord EX V6 with Navigation

Strength:

Engine provides good off-the-line quickness, and passing power. Interior is well appointed with easy to use and read instrumentation. Very functional. People that enjoy technology will love the navi system.

Weakness:

Some road/wind noise on the highway over 60 mph. Stereo is good, but not the quality you will find in Passat or Nissan models. No day time running lights, which are found on all VW models I beleive.

Overall a great car so far. Body styling is growing on me - typically have not been a fan of Accord styling. Interior is great, very roomy and comfortable. The navigation system is simple to learn and use. I have the basic commands down after only 2 days with the car. Why buy a more expensive Acura or top of the line Passat when you get the same features on the Accord EX, at nearly $10k less?

Strength:

Only a court may determine what rights I have in this matter, says the Ag office. I am a Vietnam War PD, and the dealer knows this and took advantage. I will communicate my experience with this product to all my veteran brothers with whom I have contact.

Weakness:

My first and only dealings with Honda, described here, should demonstrate how important the consumer public is to this company. I cannot say that other auto companies are better or worse, I have had bad experiences with others, but never to the extent of a complete blackout of service and collusion with the factory in a "coverup". Lesson learned: "BUYER BEWARE"!

END OF STORY? See my prior two reviews for story background. I have received the final letter from Honda America Automobile Div. and the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, Consumer Division. Honda America sent in the mail a letter stating that there is ' no record' on file that the car has ever been damaged and repainted. This makes them complicit with the dealership in the 'coverup'. Sending this bald faced lie in the mail is committing a felony as did the dealer. The PA Attorney Generals Office doesn't seem to care, sending me a letter stating "In our role of mediator under the law, we are unable to compel a company to resolve a dispute if they do not wish to cooperate."

Strength:

Nice in and out. Instrumentation panel easy to see. Accessories on dashboard easy to get to. Very driver friendly. Homelink is great! TCS works as it's supposed to. Manuevered through the snow with no problems.

Weakness:

Can hear outside noise as if car windows were open. The idling doesn't seem flawless, at times it idles high, which you can hear and feel. It obviously affects the gas mileage.

Honda again made a good quality automobile. One which gives Toyota and Nissan a run for the money. Probably the best midsize sedan out there.

Strength:

The remote door unlock worked and the driver door opened.

Weakness:

For the last three mornings at around 7:30 a.m., it took more than three tries to get the engine to catch. On the third, the engine finally stumbled to life. Good thing we purchased the extended 7yr./100k warranty. What will this car do to us when it's 15 years old. The 15yr. (171,000 mi.) Nissan we sold to the neighbors, still starts first time/everytime!

Well, it snowed the other night in the Mid Atlantic States, and the overnight temps really dropped. This car does not like snow! Hard starting. Difficult to modulate throttle in snow, and rear fishtails quickly.

Model Reviewed: Accord EX 4, Auto, cloth

Strength:

For the price, nothing comes close for the level of equipment installed, with ABS, disc brakes and the like. The cd/cassette/radio very nice.

Weakness:

Within the first month noticed a fuel flow induced engine flutter at highway speeds. Feels like driving on a cobble stone road for a minute or so, then everything is smooth again. This has continued on/off since then. Dealer 'found nothing'. Long distance driving disables the lower back with the harshness of the seat cushions. What a pain! So local driving only from now on. Fuel efficiency is advertised a lot about Honda. We're getting average 24.5 mpg with this four auto, is that normal? Then, while washing/waxing the car in the second month of ownership, I noticed an irregularity in the finish of the right passanger door. Body shop analysis revealed the door was repaired (Bondo) and repainted. Took this to the dealer. Dealer said "we have no record of having painted the doors of this car". I am now pursuing PA State Lemon Law under 'devaluation' clause. This Law is a lemon itself. I am realizing that Honda USA doesn't care, the dealer doesn't care, and Consumer Law doesn't exist. The dealer offered to 'trade' against a 2003 EX. Offer, $16000 for ours (3000 mi.) and $22,200 for the new one plus $800 for ext. warranty, then tags,6%tax,registr. etc.

After much tire kicking Toyotas, etc. We decided to try a Honda. After 15 yrs. with our Nissan Stanza, we needed to change.(the Nissan still runs with the neighbors)We had never owned a Honda before, car or motorcycle, so we gave it a try. Paid cash, new, 9 miles on OD.
