Strength:
Smooth ride; comfortable leather seats; 25MPG (note it is a V6) Have not had any problems.
Weakness:
NONE Hum...maybe could have the Honda silver emblem on the steering wheel. (believe me it's hard to find a weakness) GREAT CAR! I use to own a CHRYSLER...oh my god that was a mistake. I've owned this car for 1 year 5 months and put on 28,000 miles. YET to take it to the dealer for any problems. Only taken it to the shop for an oil change and regular maintance. Versus the Chrysler, I had to take it to the shop the first month due to oil leaks and motor problems. Similar Products Used: I can say maybe the Toyota Camry or Avalon |

Strength:
Always works well. Dashboard controls are easy to use. Engine has lots of pickup (V6).
Weakness:
A BIG one - the transmission totally went out at 50,000 miles - not at all what I expected of a Honda. I told them it was their problem. But I still had to kick in $1000 and Honda USA picked up the rest. BUT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPENED ON THE (ONCE) REVERED HONDA! Very disappointed. It will be my last Honda. Good car overall but my ranking of Honda as producing a good car dropped a full notch on this one. Similar Products Used: Soon to be decided when I trade this one in. |

Performance, handing
Weakness:
a little busy in the ride, maybe the tires. After 2 weeks of driving, very used to the feel. I have owned 3 Camrys; an 89, 93 and 98. Each time I purchased on I cmpared it to a Honda Accord. It was a very hard decision each time, but I always played it safe an got the Camry. This year I gave them both a really hard look and after a 3 week period of deciding, selected the Accord. This a joy to drive. This accord has it all. Performance, handling, features, styling (some may differ) and comfort and convenience. I would have had to go to the next level (Lexus and Accura) to get anything close to this. Similar Products Used: Camry |

Strength:
Reliability (The 2.2 VTEC is incredible) Smooth Ride Body fit and finish. The darn sunroof DOES NOT leak after 8 years!!
Weakness:
Brake rotors need to be resurfaced every 30,000 miles. No one can figure this out. Not Honda, NTB, or Sears. Small squeaks in the dash. Power - Never excites you. Down right boring. This is an excellent car that has paid for itself many times over! I have over 220,000 miles with only 1 major repair in which Honda covered all expenses. It still passes emissions test and doesn't burn oil. I change the oil every 3K, resurface brakes at 30K, tune-up at 60K, tires at 70K, and timing belt at 90K. I still get 30 MPG and it has never failed to start. I feel confident that this car will get 300K. Incredible!!!!! There is one negative - This car is boring to drive. It's like a good kitchen knife. It stays sharp, works well, but there is nothing exciting about using it. In case you are wondering, the major repair was an engine cam seal failure in which most of the engine oil came out but the car still ran for 40 miles without damage. Finally the idiot light came on and I stopped the car. The car had 120K but Honda paid the entire bill of $500 which included the towing. VTEC engine, high resale value
Weakness:
Only flaw in design is the crease along the side panels. It is prone to denting A smooth running 200 horses, with understated styling. Ergonomics are excellent, with high quality materials all around. When you are driving you have the feeling of being at ease with this car as you look out at the other drivers and think to yourself "why the hell are they not driving Accords"..This car fits well into everyday life, from going to the grocery store to cruising the highway. Stoage space is abundant and the heated leather seats are great in the winter. Similar Products Used: 1996 Nissan Maxima |

Car Thieves really like to steal them. Or atleast they used to. The brakes. Is it just the drum brakes on the DX models that are mediocre or is it that way on all of them? I wish they had a "tighter" feel. At highway speeds, it takes longer than I'd like for the car to come to a stop. Riding postion a bit too low. Parts are expensive to replace. Call me 'old fashioned' at 39 yrs old, but I have always liked the style of the '86-'89 Accords. Pop-up headlights, 4 spoke steering wheel, alloy wheel covers, scooped dashboard- I think its a very cool looking car that still holds its own nowadays-and how many other cars can you say that about? :) Certainly more stylish than say, a Toyota Camry of that time period or even my brother's '95 Ford Taurus (Yuck!) My other brother has a '90 Accord- which might be an improved design over mine, but I like the style of the 86/89's better. Mine has 205,000 miles and still looking/running Great. I actually didnt put all that mileage on it-I bought the car in '95 thinking it had only 62K miles and it turned out that I was the unsuspecting victim of an odometer rollback. (Lesson to be learned: use CarFax and check the Vin# to obtain the previous Ownership History & mileage BEFORE you buy a used car!) Due to the Rollback, I paid more for the car than I should have, but even so, I cant complain-the car has been very reliable and hardly seems to have aged at all in the 7 1/2 yrs Ive owned it. The body is still in fine shape. Armor All on the black trim and on the dashboard maintains a nice shine. Tan (light Gold) color is pleasing to the eye. Mine's just a DX, 4 dr Auto, but still, nice enough. I use public transportation to/from work so I dont put heavy use on my car. Thus I feel, why buy a new one, when the 'ol '87 is still going strong. I'd be curious though, to ride in a new '03 Accord and see what thats like:) There used to be plenty of late 80's Accords on the road, but I have noticed a significant dropoff in the past 3 or 4 years. Guess the other Owners decided that, rather than spend $$ on maintenance/repairs on an older vehicle, why not use those $$ toward a new car. Thats understandable. Unless you are skilled at doing your own repairs, Honda Parts and Service is EXPENSIVE. Had I bought mine new in '87 for, what... $11,000 was the avg price back then?, give or take, well- considering that they are built to last, 205K and 17 years at this point in time and perhaps quite a few more years ahead- , I think you certainly get your money's worth. Mine was stolen, so I dont know |

Strength:
-drives well -comfortable -GREAT GREAT GREAT gas mileage (I can't say that enough) -small and easy to handle -power everything, and it all works
Weakness:
-ecessively loud on the highway -shakes when slowing down from high speeds -not a very good sound system, but remember, this is a much older car My accord has 111,000 miles on it and it is still as GREAT car. I take it on long trips and it does great. I have had no major problems on it that weren't my fault. I did have to get new tires, brakes, battery and timing belt when I first bought it, but that can be expected of an older car. It handles well, and is very comfortable to drive. Honda Accord EX-L V6 Sedan - Graphite Pearl
Strength:
V6 fixes 4-cyl laziness; V8-ish purr & low-end torque Low-RPM orientation – just under 2000rpm@65mph allows recirculation of air - avoids "diesel stink" Overall comfort & "feel" Telescoping steering wheel Extendable center armrest Nice exterior door handles Nice displays Nice feel on the controls; placement is mostly logical
Weakness:
Bottom line aside, completely illogical bundling of features - should safety be a luxury? V6 w/man trans not available on sedan European wannabe exterior styling – liked Accords better when they weren’t trying to look like something else transmission is slow to go into gear sunroof controls should have been overhead, not on the low dash no D4 gear position; some kind of performance-oriented shifter would have been nice backlit steering wheel controls would have been nice tilt/telescope lever is awkward trunk and glove box don’t latch with any assurance already has a couple of “domestically built” rattles road noise for its size easy to kick/scuff/mar door panels when exiting car typical factory sound system flounders when fed strong bass My wife and I carpool / share 1 car and need one that with our 8” height difference, either can drive comfortably. We sat in 626s, Camrys, and Altimas, none of which inspired us enough even to take a test drive. All were roomy but none had the nice, cozy feel and styling of the Accord. We looked at Acuras but could not justify the radical price increase for the miniscule, negligible differences. In fact, the Acuras lack some features found on the Accord. My wife and I both agree that there’s just “something” about the Accord, that “feels right.” I am not a big fan of the Accord’s European-wannabe exterior appearance – especially around the rear door window/roofline. But the rest of the exterior is growing on me. The interior is fantastic - quite worthy of being called a "cabin." Ours is 2-tone gray leather which gives a sharp, clean appearance. The seats are very comfortable to begin with. And with all the adjustments including the telescoping steering wheel and extendable center armrest, it’s easy to mold the car to the driver. I test drove a 4-cyl./5-speed manual model first. The shifter and manny-tranny worked absolutely beautifully! But I still found the 4-cylinder painfully lazy at low RPM/speeds. So I test drove the V6 model and as an old-school V8 fan, I’m impressed! It is graceful and smooth with plenty of low-end torque. It gets around just fine staying under 2500rpm. I’m looking forward to opening it up once it’s broken in. Seems like there’s a beast hiding behind that reassuring low-frequency purr that the V8 fan in me loves. I would have loved to have a sport coupe but visibility for my wife ruled out all but the $8k-more Acura CL. That said, we have no regrets sofar. The car does a great job in meeting both our criteria simultaneously which is a tough job for any one thing to do. Strength:
-Soft, boat-like Buick ride -Quiet (except for transmission whine) -Accepted regular unleaded
Weakness:
-Squooshy, Buick-like handling -Numb,novacaine-injected steering -Demonic automatic transmission -Bland, 2-door sedan styling -Undertired -Unpleasant sounding engine, especially when cold -5 to 6 second pause when shifting transmission from Reverse to D4, accompanied with loud "popping" sound -Tiny little inconveniently placed horn buttons -Shiny, cheap-looking dash plastic -Thin sheet metal, especially the tinny sounding trunk lid -Mini spare...where do you put the full size flat with a full trunk? -Skinny little plastic steering wheel rim -Loose, floppy passenger seat -Very poor rear visiblity -Very un-Honda-like reliability -Weak A/C My Accord must have been assembled on a Monday morning after a long 3-day weekend. The 4-speed automatic transmission was Satan's own: evil, ungodly up- and downshifts. The drivers side window fell into the door frame. The heat shield/mid-exhaust manifold rattled incessantly the entire time I owned the car. The odometer stopped working. At 60K the ABS computer module cratered to the tune of nearly $800. To make matters worse, Honda's "Customer Assistance" offered to reimburse 50% but then retracted their offer after I expressed disappointment that they wouldn't reimburse the entire amount. To be fair, it was a comfortable automobile as long as the transmission wasn't shifting.
