FAST!!I have not drove it to much, but over all I am Happy. If I wasnt I would not be Rebuilding it.

Weakness:

Small back seat, but who cares your not sitting back there!Power over the shoulder belt always hits me in the head when i am getting out of the car.

This is a great car.Very fast!It is a 91 GT wit turbo, and a 5spd tranny.I have the engine and tranny out right now I want to rebuild both,or maybe just buy a rebuilt tranny.I want to rebuild the engine to gain an extra 100 horse.I would like to hear from some people who have been through it.If any one has good advice please get back to me at Vtec474@netscape.net

Strength:

Handles well Good gas mileage (got 35mpg highway this summer)...usually around 30mpg. Pretty reliable Fun to drive for a 2.0l Hatchback gives a lot more space to haul stuff

Weakness:

Backseat is small Auto Trani is notoriously bad Parts can be more expensive than normal Ford

Good car for price. Quick car for a 2.0l engine, handles well. Minor problems, parts can be expensive. Some problems with brakes. Auto Trani is horrible. This is my second probe (current one is manual and works fine) First was auto (yr 93), the trani is notoriously bad with auto for probes.

Strength:

-styling, its still a great looking car and i like the GT nose on the SE but the skinny tires give it away -Gas mileage -roominess, ok for a sports coupe it is anyways, it doesnt feel cramped like alot of other cars in this class -handling, sticks to curves pretty well -power windows, i love the autodown feature it has on BOTH sides

Weakness:

-backseat, its really small back there but then again its not a sedan -flash-to-pass, try to signal an idiot cellphone slowpoke to move to the slow lane and your met with an overly excited gaze from the pop-up headlights

I love the car. I think its a great car for the price. I was also looking at early 90's Toyota Celicas and Paseos but most were beat up with twice the miles. I have a 4cyl/5m and think it has pretty good power. Its no GT but it does the trick for everyday driving. The only problem i have is the check engine light has been on since i bought it and under hard acceleration the thing falls on its face above 3500 rpm until i let off the gas a bit. I think the 2 are related but i'm not sure what the problem is. The trans shifts very smoothly. I get great gas mileage. Very often 30-35mpg even with the A/C on.

Power! Even with a 2.2 12 valve it really moves. Doesnt do much off the line but to blew the doors off my sister 6 month old Corrolla. I love the style. The handling it great! Parking is a brease!

Weakness:

I can tell the tranny is gonna quit soon. Gas milage - yuck! No power when running the a/c Wished it had turbo!

Great little car. Bought it looking new (2000), A/C works, has cruise, tilt, mirrors, locks. No real problems yet w/ 130,000km on it. Wish it had a power hatch! Nice on the hightway...no problem getting it to 180km/hr with no wind noise or shuttering. The other guy who owned it must have loved it as well. Impressed over a 10 yr old car!

~ QUICK ~ HANDLES VERY WELL ~ COMFORTABLE IN FRONT SEATS ~ LOOKS GREAT ~ FUN TO DRIVE ~ LARGE CARGO SPACE ~ GOOD ON GAS

Weakness:

~ REAR SEAT ROOM ~ LACK OF CUP HOLDERS ~ PARTS ARE NOT CHEAP ~ NOT EASY TO WORK ON(VERY COMPACT) ~ HARD TO FIND PERFORMANCE PARTS AND UPGRADES(NO PROBES IN MAGAZINES)

I LOVE THIS CAR. I CAN'T GET RID OF IT. I'M DEFINATELY A PROBE ENTHUSIAST. The '89 I'm fixing up probably to sell it. But don't get me wrong it's a great car too. I have had a lot of problems with the car. I think it's because of the previous driver. I spent over $7000 fixing it to run properly. But I have had really bad luck with cars. But there are a lot of plans for it in the future. I just put a 2.0 V6 japanese motor in it.(YES THERE IS SUCH A THING AS A 2.0 V6!

Strength:

- Folding backseats - handeling - hugs the curves pretty good - good steering radius, very easy to park with - Automatic 4Cyl. - Gas mileage is decent - Seats are comfortable - Easy to keep clean - Not too shabby on speed, but could use more - an overall fun car to drive

Weakness:

- transmission is horrible - sounds like a bumble-bee - sound system gets a thumbs down - the shaking and doesn't ride too good - after driven off the lot, the price goes down a lot. - a lot of people have probes, so it's nothing to exciting

Well, there is a lot to say about this car. It had 95,000 miles on it when i looked at it.I got a good deal on it and was very proud of it until i drove it home, and the minute i pulled in the driveway the " OD OFF" light came on flashing. Thinking it was a minor problem i just drove it a while until it started to jump whenever i layed down on the gas a little bit. I took it to the Ford shop, and they told me the transmission was about to go out. I spent $1700 on a transmission, which took a lot out of my wallet. The sound system in the probe isn't really that great, but it isn't horrible. The factory radio that came with it was horrible, but i replaced it with a very nice Clarion sound system. Reading other reviews about gas mileage, i really don't think the car is that great on gas mileage, at least not as good as they make it sound. The interior is very comfortable. Though the backseat is little, being able to fold down the backseats allows me to fit some decent sized stuff in my trunk. I don't like the way my car sounds like a bumblebee, but i guess that's the consequences of getting a 4 cylinder. The car's picking is alright, although it could be better. Right now my car needs a new converter seal, because my transmission fluid was leaking when i drove it over 80. My tires need aligned because it shakes a lot, and i might have to put some new u-joints on it. This car is a decent car, and for my first car, it's not bad at all.

Strength:

you can get it fixed up easily if you're willing to pay the money

Weakness:

transmission sucks on the automatic

This is a great car. And at a great price, too. It handles nicely, and has pretty good acceleration even though I didn't do anything to it. It has no add ons, because that costs the kind of money I don't have. But overall, it makes a great car for someone who just wants to get from point a to point b with a little style. Its got a nice interior, although the back seat could be bigger. I can only drive one of my friends around comfortably, but it does have great trunk space. If you fold the back seats down, I could even put my bike in there. So if your friends don't want to constantly ride in your car, and you feel the need for some speed, this car's perfect.

This is a realy nice car. I had a 1990 Acura Integra GS and I would have to say they are both really good cars except this one is quite a bit faster. The V6 24 valve engine spanks alot of those so called fast cars. Recently raced a 2000 Grand prix GTP. I used to have a lot of respect for those. The guy barely beat me and I need a new clutch. In my opinion get a GT if your gonna get one everything about the car is great. Its smooth, fast, and quiet on the inside.
