strong high revving motor that is fun to drive. comfortable on long drives if uou have cruise control. find a twisty mountain and you are in heaven.

brakes are soft. mine is starting to rust above the windshield, paint fades and scratches easily.

the ford probe 4 cyl is a wonderful car if you take care of the thing. general maintnance goes a long way in this little car. It performs with the best of em in city driving. the acceleration is top notch, but the brakes fade and wear fast. it responds wonderful with mods like intake and exhaust. its a real go getter if there is a v8 present. not afraid to flex its little muscles.

the engine is had nothin but problems with it if i get one thing fixed some thing else gose wrong leaking valve covers wheel alighnmment problems and numerous smog problems and transmission leak and radio noise if after market radio if put in car

i thought i done good with this car when i first bought it man i was so wrong first the front tires wearing out that was 120.00 for a wheel alightment then new tires thats anthor 184.00 then radator went out thats 130.00 timing belts water pump and hoses id you do get a probe check the rateings on it and get all emissiom parts checked or repacedand the brakes are going out that some more money out my pocket no way dont be dumm like me get a honda or a toyota there not as nice looking or not as fast but u get more car out of those then that damm probe...

Delicate suspension, issues with electrical system (A/C), mysterious coolant leak. Expensive tires.

Ask for a set of metric tools to go with that car, odds are you will need to replace most of the suspension, brakes, and some engine parts. Hovewer once back in one piece this thing really hauls ass. No problems during the winter, starts at the first try at -20F. Ultra smooth gearbox, very responsive engine, handles great. Many aftermarker performance parts availible. Lots of fun to drive. Will kick the crap out of any Acura Integra.

The engine has to be the best strength. It has 145 hp and 190 ft/lb of torque at 7 psi bone stock. Mine pushes 10 psi with a few adjustments, I'm unsure on the current power but it's better than stock. The electronic ride adjust is also a plus, which can be changed from soft, normal, and sport. There are many features also like the estimated fuel economy that is sweet too. I average over 25mpg in town, and about 30-35mpg on highway. If I'm hot rodding in it it gets very low. The instantaneous fuel economy reads about 2-4 mpg at full throttle. That turbo will suck the gas.

The transmission is great for daily driving, but i blew one to hell one day and dropped the clutch at too many rpm's. The gears held up it was just the transmission casing that cracked because of the torque which leaked out all of the fluid which eventually led to the thing breaking apart. No complaints other than that, it is an awesome, fast, sprty, and comfortable car.

From what I've read the 93 to 97 probes were hunks of crap, but the 1989 to 92 probes were awesome. Mine has 160,000 miles and is going strong. It'll blow the doors of of any import around. It has the 2.2 liter inline four instead of the 2.0. The turbo spools up to about 10 psi which is sufficient for enough speed to stick you to your seat.

The Mazda MX-6 had a much different body style but contained the very same 2.2L Turbo engine and transmission from the probe. Very fast and very fun cars.

Drives well in the snow and in the summer it is quite reliable.

Cannot handle the cold. A lot of repairs and replacements.

So far I have had nothing but problems with it. I've needed to get new fan belts (because of a loose bolt. . long story), a new fuel pump, new battery. One problem is it will not charge my battery in the winter. It is constantly needing to either get recharged or get jumped. I know that my alternator is good, so it isn't that. I advise that you do not buy a ford probe. If you are lucky and live where there's always sunshine and warm weather, go for it. If you are like me and you live in a place that has cold winters, DO NOT purchase. It is at the mechanics more than it is at my house.

the car looks good . it handles good ,its fast for a 4 cylinder , its nice on the inside but the engine overall from its speed for a 4, sucks, i have had this car for 5 mos and already have invested 1,500 on just fixing the engine thats $ i could have gotten rims a short shifter and lowering springs with , thanks ford

After dealing with the problems that I have, I don't find it cute anymore.

poor transmission springs are not made to withstand any element besides a 70 degree day.

It has been my experience that these cars are quite possibly the worst vehicles out there. I have put not only a lot of money into this car, but I have spent way too much time in car repair waiting rooms. I would suggest to anyone not to buy this car and if you feel that you must, make sure that you purchase an extended warranty.

Had a few mech problems when I first got the car, and the back seats are small, but other than that its great!

I LOVE my car! It is awsome! I would recommend getting one to anyone. They are sporty and very reliable cars. Gets good gas mileage and runs smooth.
