good get up and go Dependable. Nice looking, i think it resembles the Jagaur X-type just a touch!

Weakness:

better soundproofing?

I bought this car with 19k on it, a rental maybe? with the small 4 cy, auto trans. Also got the extended warranty. This car has been a little charm...just 2 problems which were both covered by the warranty & quickly repaired. first was something about the timing belt pully was bad, making somekind of clicking noise. The 2nd problem was the the fuel pump located in the gas tank. Otherwise no other problems. the a/c works swell, no overheating, I do alot of driving, almost 100 miles a day, I'm either going 80+mph or stop and go. always feels grounded & well behaved. I do replace the engine oil frequently, take it in for maintenance when required. I just hit 100,010 miles. Back seat area comfortable for average height people. Front seat comfortable for taller people, my 6'4 husband and son fits ok without too much bending at the knee!

Strength:

Steering, handling, brakes and seat comfort. Heats up fast in winter and nice and cold in the summer.

Weakness:

The heating and a/c. I have no clue as to why I have had to have it fixed so many times. That part is kind of a pain. It takes a day for them to fix it and they don't pay for a rental

Overall this car has been good. It's never left me stranded or never started. 4 cylinder engine is tempermental though, it can accelerate very fast (when it wants to, you have to know how to hit the gas) The steering is AWESOME I can take corners as fast as my brothers new cougar (it has 15in wheels) the brakes are very good and the seats are extremely comfortable. Plenty of head room and leg room (I'm 6' 2") The ABS braking system is excellent and really a joy to drive. For a 4 popper it can really get up there. Another plus is that it has a very smooth ride. The shocks are awesome. The major problem I have had is the heating/cooling. It is a recall however I have been in the shop 10 times. It will always go out in the winter and normally spring and sometimes in between. The gas mileage isn't all that impressive, but that is due to my lead foot. I have owned this car for over 6 years and over all, I think it is a good car

Automatic Transmission

My car is excellent.Aside from recent automatic trans problems that only happen when i try to put the pedal to the floor or going up a long hill. The engine is very strong running. I would recommend the V6 with a five speed for the fun factor, the gas, and the reliability. Because with the automatic transmission, the V6, and the lead foot don't help the mileage. Under normal driving the transmission does fine and runs like it should. The handling is awesome from a stock car, with the right driver of course. I was able to keep up with a modified honda civic(imports suck). Turning into and out of corners are effortless and smooth. The front seats are very comfortable, supple and supportive, for cloth seats i would put them in every car i drive. I don't get to ride in the back seat at all, so i really can't tell you much about them. Except that i've had no complaints. The only things i've added to the engine were a K&N air filter, different spark plugs, and a reworked exhaust toward the rear. Those are things that didn't need replaced but things that make it a little faster. I think i got everything covered.

Great handler, good gas mileage, good vision, smooth ride. Stereo is OK. trunk space is pretty good.

Weakness:

Only adequate power from the 'buzzy' 4 cylinder engine. ABS went haywire, I simply removed the 30A circuit breaker to disable, braking is fine. Replaced serpentine belt tensioner. Door locks freeze during winter months. Fuel door opens when in the mood, otherwise its worthwhile to open trunk and pull gas door release manually. Heater blower switch replaced as a result of a recall.

Pretty much a trouble-free car. I've owned it since 1998. Bought it with 41K and now have 94K. Just replaced front rotors/pads for $75, it was a snap.Only took 1 hour. Heater/AC controls all still work fine.

Solid feel, good milage, feel safe in the car compared to the import we were driving.Good car for around town and thats what we will be using it for.

Weakness:

Only owned for about three months. Cant find a cup holder...maybe there arent any. Stereo is so so. Automatic door locks are sluggish.

Smooth trouble free ride. Excellent handling and great gas milage. Bought the car for my son and I drive it more than he does. Aside from some minor shaking at stops we have not had any problems.

water pump oxygen sensor gas cover timing belt water pump radiator

This car has ginven my nothing but problems. It was fine for about the first 6 months. I have had the water pump replace 2x, timing belt 2x, water pump, so kinda pins, the radiator just to name a few. Just know that I have put over $2000 into this car and it is in the shop as we speak because now it is losing pressure when I take off and cutting off in the middle of traffic which is very very very dangerous. The oxygen sensor is gone and the car idles really high when I cut the heat or the air on. I have never had a ford b4 and I really want to buy a foreign car now but all of my family are auto workers in Detroit and will probably disown me if I were to go foreign.

Good Gas mileage.

Weakness:

Transmission, timing belt, all the above mentioned!!

I have to say I do love my car, but it has given me way too many problems, let's see....timing belt, radiator hose, heater blower fan switch,(twice!), belt tightener, ball joints, stabilizer links, to name a few! And most recently..the transmission is going!! Wonderful. Only have had the car for 3 years now. Bummer. Going to get rid of the car ASAP before anything else goes!! More complaints, gas tank won't open in the winter, and opens when it wants to otherwise. Cup holders feel apart within the first few months of owning the car. Car shakes quite often, not sure why. Can't even say the stereo is any good, the speakers make funny noises! So why am I still in love with my car?? Good gas mileage, pretty peppy for a 4 cylinder. HOpefully I will have better luck with my next car (which will not be a FORD by the way!)

Shakes when in idle Had to replace timing belt already May have to replace transmission

Okay when I was living on the east coast the car ran fine we got the car in 2001. We moved here to San Diego in 2002. It ran great for a little while I don't know if it couldn't get use to the hills or the roads or what. First my timing belt went out had to replace it. Now it seems either my transmission or my fuel pump is about to go out has to take it to the shop on Monday. My husband has a 94 Hyundai Sonata that runs better than this piece of crap. Will not get another Ford car again. I heard that sometimes the transmission slips but thought that it was all fixed now however doesn't seem like it. And to top it off my car doesn't even have a hundred thousdand miles on it yet. Also it shakes when in idle just sitting. It idles like it is about to take off or something. Put it in Neutral or Reverse it seems like it is about to cut off and starts shaking really bad. Would not trust to drive this car a long distance.

CUPHOLDERS

LOVE THIS CAR! IT'S GOT 58,000 MILES ON IT,HAD 38,000 WHEN I BOUGHT IT. GREAT ACCELERATION,LOTS OF POWER FOR A 4 CYL.IT'S NEVER BEEN WORKED ON,OTHER THAN ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. BEAUTIFUL CAR,LOTS OF ROOM INSIDE. GREAT STEREO SYSTEM! MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE FRONT CUP HOLDERS,POSITIONED UNDER THE DASH IN FRONT OF THE 5-SPEED CONSOLE. PRETTY MUCH WORTHLESS. SEATS ARE AWESOMELY COMFORTABLE. LIKE SITTING AT HOME IN MY LIVING ROOM. THERE YOU HAVE IT! PROBABLY THE NICEST AND MOST DEPENDABLE CAR I'VE OWNED FOR A LONG TIME. THUMBS UP,TOO BAD IT'S BEEN DISCONTINUED..

Everything

This car is the biggest P.O.S. Other than the 10 recalls this has had. I had to replace the transmission. Car gone for 2 weeks and 2300 later. The transmission went a year ago and I think it's slipping already. The only good thing is the gas mileage.
