Strength:

Turbo AWD Very comfy seats with all kinds of support for hard cornering :p Very fast with some mods, goes faster for little $$ The fact that this 4 banger can smoke a V8 with the right mods.

Weakness:

Not so smooth shifting tranny Expensive parts There might be 4 seats, but face it no one will sit in the back, too small Not the ideal car for high school or college kids that don't have much money, they can be money pits if you buy the wrong one

This is my 5th car in 6 years of driving and so far this is the best car of the bunch, I love it!. Its a total blast to drive, I'm always wanting to go for a drive and listen to that turbo whine and blow of valve pop. People complain about this car being unreliable because of this and that, but like any car out there that is not maintained propaly by the current or previous owner then its going to suck your wallet dry. If you change the timing belt at the regular intervals and do it right, t-belt, balance shaft belt, tensioner and pulleys then you'll be fine, most people just replace the timing belt itself then the balance shaft belt or tensioner gives out and boom! you need a new engine. There are some minor commom problems with these cars, but a visit to www.dsm.org or many of the helpfull message boards out there and all your problems will be solved. Every used car has problems, do your research and you'll find there are many easy and inexpensive fixes out there. These cars are very easy to make fast, with some rather simple mods, around $1500usd you'll be even with a new Mustang GT and maybe beat it. And with the all wheel drive you can launch the car so hard its amazing. Also the 4G63 engine in the Talon can handle 450hp at the crank stock, I know because I've seen it first hand, that kind of power gets you low 12's high 11's in the 1/4 mile. Remember the more you modify this car or any car the more it will break, its normal.

Strength:

Beautiful! Every Option, comfortable, handles very well.

Weakness:

Expensive to fix, ya timing belts suck, hard to work on.

My mom bought my 95' Talon when I was 15, then when I turned 16 it became mine! It was bright red with a black top, and it was the sweetest looking car I had ever seen, with only 59,000 mi on it! Immediatly I was in love! Even though it was an ESI, it was still a quick little thing, and handled very well. I loved everything about the car, and became very involved with DSM.. I was very very happy with my car, and then my first day at work up in the Dells, I hit a deer on the interstate, totalling the best thing I had. It was not by any means the most reliable thing, but the most beautiful car ever, it had every option. I miss it a lot! If I could find one that was a turbo I would definitly get another!

Strength:

Motor is strong and runs perfectly Handling is awesome, especially when changing lanes VERY comfortable seats Gorgeous car - i get tons of compliments VERY FAST, even without the turbo. Motor will last FOREVER if you change the oil every 2500 and don't abuse the hell out of it like it's a race car.

Weakness:

weak synchronizers for the manual transmission (2nd gear crunches a little if you aren't a good shifter) timing chain needs to be replaced every 60,000 or you are going to suffer the consequences. You CANNOT buy a used talon with a turbo if it has over 80,000 on the odometer. You can be sure of having to buy a new turbo very soon after (because chances are the previous owner didn't take care of it). Tires are expensive (you cannot use cheap tires on this car). Says 4 passenger, but the passengers in the back better be dwarves. There is NO leg room.

I just bought a 1991 eagle talon esi (sept of 2002) with 128 K on it. I bought a brand new 1990 talon awd tsi turbo back in 1990 and drove it to 40,000 before i sold it. I had ZERO problems with it. It was extremely fast, gorgeous black and silver, and never ever had problems in any weather. I was heartbroken that I had to sell it (fiance argued it was costing us too much and we needed $$$ for wedding...not with fiance anymore...ughhhh). Just bought the 1991 and so far, no problems. Car is red with black top. It has a very minor exhaust leak but other than that, there is nothing wrong with it. Exterior was excellent and interior was mint when i bought the car. I only paid 1250.00 and feel like I got a great deal. Only concern is the timing chain and the date of last replacement. If you know talons, you know you HAVE to (yes, HAVE to) replace the timing chain every 60,000 miles or you can count on it snapping and causing major engine damage. So it's about 250.00 now or 1000.00 + later. I know that this car has received mixed reviews -most of them good, some very bad - but I also think that some people don't take care of it properly and then of course things are going to happen. Overall, I would have to say that the car is a great buy - both for its looks and mechanically - but of course you can expect to have to replace some parts here and there, some of ehich are expensive (engine computer is $ 1000.00+ I believe and the turbo is around 600). IMHO, talons are one of the best cars Chrysler ever made and, despite their quirks, are well worth the investment. I LOVE MY TALON!

well...i've had this car for about 5 months now and i love it. i bought it from a guy that lived near one of my friends, as soon as i test drove it i fell in love with it and decided this was my car. its not that fast but its deffinatly not slow, it was fast enough to beat my friends 97 altima. the car handles very well, and for a small car it can fit 3 ten inch subs in the trunk, and by the design it sounds great. all in all this is a great car to have fun in.

Strength:

Comfort, cruising speed, stock performance is acceptible. Get the 5 speed (more hp then auto, bigger injectors and larger turbo then auto) with leather, won't cost any more.... these cars have NO resale value what-so-ever.

Weakness:

None thus far (fingers crossed, knocking on wood as I write this).

I purchased this car ($4,500 CDN) knowing it needed a new transmission. I purchased a used transmission including installation for $600 cdn (50k on it). So the total investment for the car to date is $5,100. I drive 100 km to and from work every day and thus far have had no issues. I am keeping it stock in hopes that it will last for a few years. This car is a blast to drive, quick (not fast) on the highway. Great at speeds over 100km/h. Has a little over 165,oookm, no knocks, no rattles, starts great every time, idles perfect, leather interior is in great condition. I think I got a deal. The car has no rust nor dents, I am impressed. I did see some beaters when I was looking. There are deals to be had. I have put over 40,000km on it with no issues.

This has gotta be one of the fastest cars I have ever driven. I have an upgraded turbo, intercooler, cold air intake, and 2.5 exaust. I recomend doing this to any dsm, im pushing 350 horses and the 4g63 motor is holding every bit.

Good gas mileage, looks good, pretty fast, good stock speakers.

Weakness:

I have had many electrical problems.

When I first bought my car it had very low miles for a 1995 and everything was good. I started to have a few problems with it, but for the most part evrything was good. It's a good car for how cheap they are.

Strength:

Stylish, sweet looking car inside and out. Very quick and excellent handling. Overall nice ride will get lots of looks and compliments.

Weakness:

Transmission, brakes, noisy lifters, brakes, idle speed, throttle body, brakes, window track, did I mention brakes?

Well I'd have to say my review is pretty much in agreement with most of the other reviewers. The Talon is fast, really good looking but too many problems (just like my ex-girlfreind). Right now my transmission is going and brakes need work. This really pisses me off because I have already spent $2000. on brake work last year. Bought this car with 96000km, I'm at 179 000km now and have done all maintenance. Driver side window is a joke for coming off the track. Body is amazing and still looks new. The car refuses to rust, well not entirely true. I've been hit several times so there is slight rust developing on the rear fender, but I'm taking care of that. In all I'm not happy with the car's reliability but I don't want to let go of it because of its style and power. Besides the honeys love it too.

Very fast obviosly. Good ergonomics. If you keep your foot out of it, it gets good mpg. Warning: turbo is addictive! The sound of the turbo whine is asume, and to feel it come on is even better.

Weakness:

Traction is hard to find on the front wheel drive. When i race people, i end up smoking the tires really bad. Oh and the stock speakers suck.

I'm very satisfied with this car. Everybody thought it was nothing more than cute untill I started blowing their doors off effortlessly. I beat on it pretty good and i haven't broke anything yet.
