Strength:

Amazing amount of interior space, great handling, gigantic trunk, stylish body, economical. The front seats are very comfortable.

Weakness:

Poor reliability! Head gasket failures, brake failures, electrical glitches, headlight aiming parts broke, groaning from the front suspension, radio display disappeared, etc. Also, the interior is finished in some of the cheapest materials I've yet seen in a mid-size. Tacky is an understatement. Rear seat is too low to the floor. High tail styling makes for awkward rear visibility.

When it's running, it's a fun-to-drive family car with spunky acceleration despite the 2.0L engine (having a 5-speed helps). Good fuel economy, too.

Strength:

Nice power, small but not too small, great value, 7 year power train warranty, pleasing looks.

Weakness:

Not insurance friendly, though switching back to Allstate will help; the remote requires 2 pushes to open trunck, and the horn beeps loudly when the remote is used to lock the car (can avoid using the remote for these things).

I have the R/T Coupe. A nice V6 with a hp/lb ratio similar to the Honda Accord or Nissan Altima V6's, and I paid invoice with 0% for 60 months. My son fits comfortably in the back seat, I do not.

Similar Products Used:

I've considered the Nissan Altima 6 cyl (I owned an Altima for 5 years), the Honda Accord (too pricey); I traded my 2000 Intrigue GLS (an excellent (perhaps better) car though not as sporty).

Strength:

Pretty good gas mileage. Works good when its running.

Weakness:

Battery replacement a major pain. Front shocks make popping sound when backing up and turning. Hard Car to keep clean. Be able to do your own repairs if you buy this car.

Over 250,000 miles. Timing belt went out and had to replace entire engine. REPLACE YOUR TIMING BELT TODAY. Have to remove valve cover today to remove debris from a disintegrated spark plug. I have no idea how this happened. If you do let me know at darricka@hotmail.com

Strength:

For me, its been a cheap and classy ride.

Weakness:

I'll let you know when I find one... Well, that weird hole shot acceleration lag caused by the automatic tranny algorithm is annoying- but normal and you get used to it.

Well, for all the *peein* and moanin I've read here- which I'm sure truly reflects the reviewer's experiences- I can say that my 1998 Stratus has been faultless. New rubber at 44k and that's been it. I now have 71k on it and still have the original brake linings- I used to wear out my Corisica linings at 25k. Last time I did a mileage reading (60k) it was getting 27.2 mpg- better than when new. The paint is remarkably durable and she looks new. Yesterday I fiddled with the door switch for the dome light which was working sporadically and works fine now after a squirt of WD-40. I mention this insignifant detail only because it is the only thing I've ever had to tinker with after five years (as of 11 April) ownership. So far so good. The first time I've been the title holder of a nice car. In the past they have been pretty well spent by the time I had them paid up.

I love the way this car looks and it really handles well.

Weakness:

Have had this car in the shop constantly. Rear main seal, head gasket twice, brake master cylinder leak, tie rods, wheel bearings, both lower control arms, front sway bars, catalytic convertor and have had MANY recalls.

Lesson for the day: Never buy a car the first year its on the market!

Strength:

Great gas mileage, excellent room for family, looks sleek, drives great on ice.

Weakness:

Parts are expensive, battery is under the wheel well, gas line has to be depressurized after each repair or fuel line falls off, and check engine light wont quit.

I bought this car w/87,000 miles on it, and it has been good to me. Recently, however, My fuel line has dropped 3 times, and I have replaced all of my spark plugs twice. However, I am still getting a cylinder 4 misfire message, and cant seem to figure out the problem. I want to keep this car, but it is becoming a hassle. What could be causing this message? And why?

acceleration, exterior, roomy interior, more leg room, steering handling is the best.

Weakness:

head gasket

I had this car for five years, since then the problem i had was my head gasket leaking. I understnad it is has lot of mileage so i don't complain. It is show car. I won 2 first place prize for this car. It has everything: bodykit, short intake, hayame exhaust, header, venom control module, custom interior, air ride, sound system etc. I race my car sometimes but its no fun to race a automatic but i smoked accord, civic, integra ls, eclipse, camaro, celica. With the venom control module my car has about 210HP. I love my car even though its an american car.
