This was my first car, and I was very excited. I had breaks, new tires put on. Recently, I've had one thing after another. I have an oil leak in the main gasket. In talking to other people, it seems that this has been a problem in the stratus' around this year. I'm wondering why this was not recalled. I'm very frustrated, at looking at $800 for repairs. I had intended to purchase another status, but after this, I don't think so. I just can't believe that a car this new (1998) would have this major problem. I would like to know what is being done to correct this problem. is

Gas Mileage, compact, great first car. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Hasn't had anything major wrong with it since it has been in my possession, it has only been a month. So give it time. But so far the car is perfect.

Seems to have the right tire rubbing on something. Just can't figure out what it is. Sounds like the Jetson's space ship when I come to a complete stop, othertimes it sounds like there is a mouse spinning in a wheel. Not sure if this is normal, but we will see. Also the brakes make a weird noise. Not grinding like the rotars or anything, just seems to hit hard. Im still getting use to this car, between the gas and the brake. One seems a little touchy and the other needs a little bit of a push.

So far I love my car. I have always had a thing for Dodge in general. Never thought I would own a Stratus, let alone have it for my first car. Seems to have a few things wrong with it. Could just be me and being paranoid. But it gets great gas mileage. I have the 4cylinder 2.4 liter engine. 4 Door sedan.

Great handling, very fun to drive, very responsive and good on gas.

Definate temptaion to speed ;)

I LOVE my car!!!! The Stratus is one of the best I have ever owned. I normally buy Oldsmobile but went for the sporty look of the Stratus this time...WOW! The car handles like a dream and now has 130k on it and the only thing I have had to replace is the radiator. When I buy it WILL be a Stratus

I have had this car for a year now. Had the head gasket replaced,with the dealer paying for my $100 deductible for me. Purchased a Chrysler warranty at the time of purchase. Also had them change the timing belt when they did the head gasket.Had a front wheel bearing changed also under warranty and the hood replaced under my rust proof warranty no deductible.Am still very happy with this car. Looks great and is fun to drive. I have the 2.4 engine with auto trans.All cars have problems but it is how the dealer treats you that makes a good buying expierence.Will definatly buy anther chrysler product from Wendell Motors.

It makes me feel stupid for buying a dodge!

This car is a big fat stinky piece of crap!!! It has blown two head gaskets, which apparently is common with the 96 model. The "climate control" system directs the air flow out of random vents, regardless of what it is set on. When you turn the steering wheel, it sounds like a constipated gorilla trying to force out last night's dinner. It leaks oil like a seive and the stereo sucks. The interior stains easily and the paint chips even easier. The damn "check engine" light comes on almost as often as the interior dome light. It gives the code for "multiple cylinder misfire", which could be about a million different things. It may as well say, "somethin' come a loose" instead! This is the first and last dodge I will ever buy. Next time I buy Japanese!

Leg Room Look Gas Mileage

Too slow

We have had absolutely NO problems with my Stratus. I love it! Plenty of room and sport for what it is.

I absolutely love this car! The pickup is great. This is the most fun I ever had driving a car. The steering is VERY responsive (almost too much so). I get a lot of attention when on the road, even from other stratus drivers. The minor redisgn over the 2002 model made it look even better. I never thought the autostick would be this much fun, I almost never drive it in the normal D gear. The only thing I don't like is I could use a little leg room. I'm 6'1" and feel a little cramped and my wife is 5'4" and said the passenger side is cramped. But I highly recommend this car. I had a Dodge Durango and thought I would never drive a car again but now I don't miss it one bit (except when it snows but the R/T handles that pretty well too).
