Strength:

Great handling, braking, and acceleration. The neon runs great. I have never had any problems out of mine since I got it.

Weakness:

Nothing.

My neon has a spoiler, 16-inch alluminum wheels, low profile tires, 4 disc cd changer, power sunroof, etc. This car is great! I would recommend this car to anyone who likes sporty little cars.

It handels ok when it is actually not at the dealier getting fixed.

Weakness:

It has a weak accelaration, tranny problem, brake problems, motor problems. i would list them specifically but it would take way too long.

This is the worste car I have ever owned. I have had nothing but breakdowns with it. My 65 studebaker runs better than this car. I would never recomend anyone to ever buy this car. IT IS A LEMON AND SHOULD BE TOTALLY SCRAPPED!

Styling Fun-to-Drive Reliability

Weakness:

Nothing yet!

I got my 2001 Neon R/T in March and it has been perfect ever since. The power is great and the handling is superb! It''s also like a small Audi A4 or C-Class Mercedes as I''ve got leather, chrome door handles inside, power sunroof, 4-disc CD Changer, and full power heated mirrors, etc.

Strength:

Cute car, handled good in the snow.

Weakness:

Gas mileage could have been better.

I liked my little neon. Never had major problems with mine but I was too afraid to keep it so I sold it at 50,000 miles, before the head gasket went out. A/C went out. Speedometer stopped working, had to get that panel replaced. Not bad for a first car.

Model Reviewed: 4door Dodge neon

Strength:

The neon is sporty looking and decent on gas milage.

Weakness:

Almost everything under the hood.

My neon was a salavaged vehical. So all of the horrible problems I encounterd were not under warrenty and came out of my pocket. The car only had 30,000 miles on it when I first got it. It now has 41,000. At 40000 the head gasket went and also it needed a new exhaust manafold, that total bill was $1100. Then about 3 months later the timing belt went which caused the pistons to bend all 4 valves. This was a major operation that cost me $1500 AND without a car for 2 weeks. So the money I saved on buying a salvaged vehical went right back into a new engine and everything else wrong. I do not recomend a neon for anyone.

Model Reviewed: dodge neon sport 4 dr.

Strength:

good vehicle to teach 5-spd. 5th gear is strong, though not used often. feels solid when doors closed. decent sound system. no cd...but cassette/radio combo is ok. nice long dash and good easy to read gauges. still on original goodyear ga''s. they are holding up fine. daughter had opportunity to get used 2000 model, but did like body design compared to ''98 and earlier models. i agree. good sports model without being extravagent. wing and fog lights do the trick just fine. 4dr doesnt not spoil the looks.

Weakness:

not sure about mpg. all driving has been stop and go in urban area, so havent really taken advantage of 5th gear. feels like it should be better mileage though. do not like filling with recommended premium fuel. have interchanged at times with unleaded plus (88 octane) and premium (91 octane)....with no visible difference. shift pattern is kinda of long. would prefer more shorter, crisper shifts. my own preference. the daughter doesnt seem to care. 1st gear could use more torque. high rear end....poorer visibility. not sure about rubber sealing around doors. no problem yet, but they look like they will come loose soon. dark green metallic color is not good color for dry, hot southwest, paint is holding up. did replace wiper blades. did not like that had to buy two different sizes for each side. i''m really disappointed with the resale value.

an excellent vehicle up to this point for being a used vehicle. bought it with very low mi. (18k mi. in yr 2000). daughter drives it to school and work. had to teach her how to drive a stick, so she has been conservative and gentle with the gears. vehicle has only 23k now, so i still think its a new car bearly broken in. good vroom sound with factory exahust and dohc motor. the engine has some poop to it. wow!, i''m really bothered about other neon owners with serious problems once the miles stack up. no head gasket problems, no oil leaks, no water leaks, no brake problems, keeping my fingers crossed.

other daughter drives ''99 pontiac sunfire, but its a coupe. ergonomically, the neon with its 4 dr is easier to digest, though will admit that sunfire looks nicer as a coupe.

Strength:

Lots of fun to drive, especially for the price.

Weakness:

*brake wheel shaft frozen ($400) at 38,000. *Head gasket died ($500 @ 60,000) (i hear they will replce for free now?) *Problems with Transmission? Pops out of 3rd and 5th gear. now 80,000. not sure how much it will cost to fix. *Engine makes funny noises while in neutral that it didn''t make before.

You get what you pay for. It was a fun first car. Now it is dying.
