headgasket, and head failure peeling paint sqeaky brakes

Junk! Junk! Junk! I skipped right over the headgasket problems, and had to replace the head itself TWICE! The paint is peeling, the brakes have sqeaked since 2 days after I bought the hunk of junk. I am going to scrap it soon and buy anything buy a chrystler!

I would never reccomend any one to buy a NEON. I bought it brand new had 12000 miles it had to have a new engine, at 20000 miles it left me sitting on the side of the road once again at 25000 but they say nothing is wrong with it, I have had it this car sucks and I would never recomend any one to buy this car ever. Granted the warrenty has picked everything up cost wise it is just utterly ridiculous to have a new car for 14 months exactly and it act this way. I will never own another vechile like this again or anything similiar to it. I will be buying another vehicle here in the near future I refuse to pay for a car that is not worth one penny any longer.

electrical problems(locks, windows, sunroof, cd player, head gasket) similar cars get better mileage american made. america still cannot rise up to match japanese or german automakers.

Begin rant: I was in my own personal poverty, living with mom and dad, trying to get out of depression. So then I bought A NEON!!!! ARGH!!! Before I drove a 91 Toyota pickup with 158k miles and NO PROBLEMS. Why did I sell it? I thought a new car would be potentially more reliable and my toy would die soon. I bought it brand new from a local Dodge dealership. Day 1 (03/18/99): stereo didn''t work. Just bad fuse. Day 1: hmph....power locks intermittent..same with power windows. Between day 1 and 07/27/99 I had it looked at about 8 times. I only three of the invoices here to refer to. 05/20/99: problems with power locks/ windows: techs could not duplicate problems. several attempts to fix this led to "bad switch". yeah right. freak. They replaced the main cable hub underneath the dash twice. 07/29/99: same as above -- could not duplicate. 08/06/99: my dad told me that this problem has to be a bad ground. I called the service department and relayed this idea to them. Here''s and excerpt from the invoice: "power windows and lock inop intermittently nec to check power circuit power ok nec to remove front dash piece g203 has 45 ohms of resistance intermittently. nec to trace ground checked connections at c205. c231. s310 and door jamb connectors. removed both door panels adjusted pins at lock connectors and at window switch connectors. resistance at window switch connectors resistance at g203 is now .9 ohms ok. complete." A thunder storm rolled in. Day after, I opened up the sunroof. AND IT STUCK OPEN!!! 08/12/99: dealership orders new sunroof, which was on national backorder 09/20/99: f''ing sunroof hozed again. replaced sunroof again. 01/26/00: cd player will not accept cd''s. replaced. 01/31/00: cd palyer again. f. replaced. 09/06/00: left side door locks inoperative. new switch. power window on driver''s side making funny noise. installed power window regulator. 12/28/00: cd player inop again. replaced. 01/30/01: HEAD GASKET REPLACED AT UNDER 24000 MILES. AND THEY MADE ME PAY FOR THE OIL AND COOLANT CHANGE: $94.82. By this time the nice and helpful staff can''t stand seeing me in there every few months. Right about this time (i think) in my extreme frustration, I prayed to God that Daihmler Chrysler would go out of business. They layed off over 27,000(correction?) workers two day

Head gasket, my crank sensor went, but it was no big deal. Chrysler Canada Dealers, not all that much aftermarket support (not like Honda).

I really like my car. It''s a DOHC Sport Coupe, with the 5 speed. I''ve had the whole head gasket thing happen, but it didn''t cripple my car, and other than that it''s been very reliable. I get great gas mileage, I love the handling, and I love being able to dust souped Hondas with a stock economy car. My only negative experiences have been with the dealers.

I just sold my Neon, THANK GOD! Right as I put it up for sale the thing started to pop out of 5th gear if I went over 80mph. I bought the car at 60000 miles and drove it until 75000 miles in one year. It was a good car. It leaked a little oil, no major problems unitl the end. I''d recommend it.

After 30000 miles it down the drain

The car is the biggest peace of dump that you can ever get into. Giving it credit with low mile (very low miles) after 30000-40000 it''s all down hill from there. So far I have had muffler problems, transmission problems, Brake problem, streaks on the windows from something in the door and the air going out. After all that now I am trying to get rid of the car and I owe twice as much as the car is worth. ADVISE... DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CAR!!!

We have had our neon since December 1997. Since that time, we have had nothing but problems with it. The computer chip has been reset and replaced several times, the wiring harness replaced. Right now, we have a leak in the trunk. It is not the seal. There is a large gap between the seal and the tail light (the car has never been in an accident). The water is so bad that there has been 2-3 inches standing at times. The water has run from the trunk to the cab. It has ruined all of the carpet, padding and the foam in the back seat.
