Weakness:

Dealerships have no customer loyalty!

I've had nothing but problems with this car. The biggest problem was the head gasket. My mechanic told me he can't count the number of Neons he has fixed with head gasket problems. Called the dealership and they acted like they had no idea there is a problem with the Neons head gasket design. While waiting to pick up my car form the mechanic another Neon was being towed in that blew a head gasket. This car has given me nothing but problems. Dodge/Chrysler does not stand behind their cars and I will never by a Chrsyler product again!!!

Weakness:

paint chips speakers suck air conditioner goes out does not pick up brakes sqeek even it new the alarm efected the car if the key isn't in right the bleakers and air conditioner doesn't work

Don't buy a Neon. This car is the worst by far. I have a lot of friends who have a Neon and have the same problems that I have, but I'm the only idiot that kept it this long. The paint started chipping off on the top,(i have seen other neons with chipping of the paint), replaced air conditioner, battery goes dead every time i blink, speakers went out, every month for some reason it seems to get worse on gas, replace the compreser, leaks water coolent, makes it overheat, so many other things, but that is what cost the most. oh, the paint is starting to chip on the back and sides.

Strength:

It's a great car to drive off a cliff or give to the junkyard.

Weakness:

The car has had repeat repairs to: Brakes - always squeak even after replacing rotors and pads. This is repair that is needed twice a year at least. Head gasket - This has blown twice and the car has 73,000 miles on it. The second time it blew a year after having the new one installed! Radiator - It became corroded Fan relay switch - This will need to be replaced at least once a year also. I've had to replace mine several times since I purchased the car. Transmission line clamps - My transmission is now leaking, guess what that means I should get out a loan for that repair, huh?! Wind noise, paint rusts around the door seals. AC takes forever and so does heat. Car is very slow and noticeably slower when AC is on. Don't try passing another car unless you are suicidal!

This car is junk! I have put more money into it then it is worth! The parts that need to replace always need to be replaced within a year again. Even if you purchased the extended warranty like I did, everything will magically fall apart after the warranty period.

Strength:

Sound system sounds very good for factory. Interior 2-tone colour is nice, leather steeringwheel/shifter. A/C works very well - super cold! But I have had to have the fan in it replaced becasue it was noisy and obnoxious (but taht was following the non-stop drive from Canada to Florida) The warranty has been honoured for the A/C, the head adjusters on the seats and taht is it for problems in almost 2 yrs and 32000 kms. Great bumper-to-bumper extended warranty for the price. Not offered at any of the other dealers I was at.

Weakness:

the blind spots in this car are bruital and take a lot of gettign used to. The pick-up on it isn't spectacular but it's 4 cylander so what do you expect, really! The trunk doe not stay up when you open it - I think somethign is wrong with mine. Plan to have it looked at. It clocks me in the head when I try and get groceries in/out. Pain!

I am very happy with this car. The price was 12,000 Canadian and it only had 2000 kms on it when I got it (it was a demo car) Had all the features I wanted on it. (power windows, ABS, keyless entry) The CD player i upgraded but left the factory speakers in and they are just fine! Plus the dealer tinted teh windows and added a spoiler (the one on the intrepid) onto this for me so it looks a lot more sporty than the average neon. It is quiet on the highway which I was suprised at after test driving the Sunfire and Cavalier.

Fuel efficient 8L/100km v.good 0-100 7 secs (with spiralmax whoa) Front and rear fogs (unique) Air/Power everthing... Reading and Vanity lamps inide... V.V.Cool 2L engine!! Most 4cylinder cars are bout 1.8L or less

Weakness:

Damn Head gasket... Yes dudes its true the darn gasket leaks at about 50000km... To buy a new one costs about Aus$250 plus sevice about Aus$1400..

Its definitly the best car for its price. !!!!! I have a neon LX top of the range in Austrlia and for a car that cost 13000 its beats the toyotas and hondas and whatever else is there. power everything front and rear fogs adjustable front lights whoaaa.. common. and with 132 horsepower it will whoop any stock civics arse, and will not be too far behind wrt a celica or a eunos or even 300zx. Put preimium fuel and watch the difference :)

Even though you will fork out about 2000 for repairs to the gasket in the end it will still be cheaper than a say a mirage or a lancer which is not even in the same category. Or still better than a co

Weakness:

sunroof motor is broken the car brakes sueak like crazy. There are so many annoying rattles in the car. OH yeah my door now is jammed shut so I have to get in from the passenger door. Also my car vibrates like crazy when going 55. Like I said before these are not all neon problems problem mostly is the dealer sold me a lemon.

Lets just say this car is a piece of crap. It is not all the cars fault though. It is mostly the dealer who tricked me into buying this car which had had a previous accident in it

as listed above, please somebody steal it!!!!!

After reading all the other bad reviews, I feel better (sort of). Brakes, head gasket and blown head, transmission, leaky trunk (into back seat as well), belts (all), sunroof, battery, dealership completely useless, and uncooperative. This with under 50,000mi and regularly maintained (oil, etc) Hopeing to trade in for a reliable car (Honda) I will probably have to pay them to take it!!!

I CAN'T seem to find any....

Weakness:

The whole freakin' car You will end up with more money in the car than it will ever be worth, and you will never get your money back out of it...

It has been a ride from HELL, it stops dead in the middle of the road, won't restart for 20 minutes, then will run like a new car until it decides to stop again. The trunk fills with water, no matter how much silicone you use to fix it. Oil leaks, reguardless of how many times you fix it, you never pass a gas station without filling up on oil. If anyone else has or has had the stop and go syndrome PLEASE let me know what it is... Dodge dealer, just doesnt seem to know..........they want to replace all the "EXPENSIVE" parts but won't guarantee it will fix the problem....Has anyone noticed there is alot of DEALER PARTS on this car, tell me Dodge didn't make some money on this vehicle?????? The consumers didn't get a deal, they invested to keep investing, we got TAKEN..... My suggestion to those who would like to buy a NEON, WALKING "IS" cheaper.....
