Acceptable price range, Good Handling, Good gas mileage-33mpg. and a pretty reliable car. A all around great "simple car". Even if it is a dodge.

Expensive parts for plastic pieces(interior door panels-$250, Quarter panel-$375 (my bad driving, not rust) and doges take all day attitude. 2 cars in the shop and I still pay 4 hours of labor. Doge isnt very good at listening...Took 1 hour to convince them that the thermostat was bad..hmmm lets see car not heating up, no heat runs fine....hmmm what else could it be?

I have to admit I love my car(Eventhough its falling apart on me). I bought the car used with 76k on it(neons are known to be 100k cars). Ive had it for 3 years and its sporting a hefty 132k now. Ive had the typical neon problems.. head gasket blew right off the lot, Thermostat twice -by the way the dealerships will charge 76$ for a thermostat fix ( parts cost $12) find a mom and pop shop. I wanted a car that had manual everything since my lebaron was a piece of crap, so I figured I could fix everything cheaply since my father is a mechanic. Good thought, but when a plastic doorpanel costs 250$ and both are broke, it doesnt help much. Ive never had serious problems with my car,shes not sounding too good though. My sister bought a 97 neon 2 years after I did and she has had no serious problems either. My door panels are duct taped to the door and My trunk leaks water, but its a neon not a porsche. Cant be beat for the money and I hear the engines are better in the newer ones. Im trading in my car soon for maybe a golf, I'm hoping VW service isnt worse than dodge(not that dodge is spectacular). I dont take my car to dodge anymore, they want 49.00 for an oil change. Screw that, Im going to Jiffy lube. $29.99, baby! Plus dodge doenst have the service drop off thingie (where they drive you home and pick you up when your car is done). So whether or not you sit in the waiting ro0om its still 4 or 5 hours watching bad broadcast TV. I did have the flange gasket repaired because the car sounded like a volkswagen..ironic that Im thinking of buying one. But overall my "trixie" has pep and spirit and drives pretty good. She doesnt like 60-70 mph, but when the spped limits 65 you can get away w/75..and all cars have their sweet spots. Overall, if you need a cheap car, noens are great choices.(if you dont mind not having a seat warmer or volume controls on the steering wheel). Once again I love my trixie and am glad I bought her. Shes been a great car, but sadly its time to send her to the garage in the sky.

I totalled my Nissan Maxima over the summer, and bought a brand new Neon..I had alot of credit stipulations, so I coudlnt really just get a PREAP and buy whatever I wanted, and financers wanted me in a new car. I always liked the looks of the new neon, and fell in love with the flame red one on the lot that I bought. I really have no real complaints about my car,anything lacking is sheer vanity that could be aquired just by purchasing a higher end Neon, or a more luxury car. The adjustment from a Maxima to a Neon wasnt easy..I miss my sunroof most prolly. Everything was faulty on my Maxima anyways. I wish Dodge had a longer factory warranty. I dont think my gas mileage is superior to anythng else Ive owned. I did get pretty good service at my local vancouver dodge dealer tho..even tho thats not even where I purchased it. The reason Im writing..ahh the famous trunk leak. I live in a very wet climate and the leak started about 2 months after I bought my car, started with mold growing, now where the spare tire is, there is standing water, and the floorboard type thing that covers the spare is rotten and corroded. Dodge just ordered new parts, I bought my car july 2002, and will already by without it for repairs in Jan 2003. Ive had ZERO mechanical or electrical problems! Over all, I like my lil neon.

Absolutly Awsome, There isn't much I can say that is bad about the Dodge Neon. It Drives smooth, it has hella nice horespower and acceleration. The sound system rocks, has 6 speaker premium sound. I have all of the nicsest features white dashboard display, 2.0L 16V-132HP DOHC system. Tachometer, Fog Lights, Remote keyless, alarm. Premium wheels. I have everything in this car, except i have the automatic I didn't feel like learning stick with my new car if you know what im saying. All in all I love my neon and It will be with me for a long time, at least until the new SVT-4 Neon comes out this year 2003, Dear god it has a 2.4 litre 4 cyliner system clocking in at 205HP. :)

not worth squat after you drive it off the lot. head gaskets are worthless. fuses are always burning out. shifts hard. gas mileage seems to be getting worse. the minute the warranty is done, so is your comfort in knowing you have a decent car ( it is amazing how the dodge people can almost perfectly design a car to run fine for the first 36000 miles).

i have owned two dodge neons, yes call me crazy. the first was a 1997, and the head gasket blew. well i was talked into buying a BRAND NEW NEON, well i have taken care of the car, regular oil chages, mainentance ect. and at only 70000miles i again had the head gasket go. well i still owe about 9,0000 dollars and now have and additonal 1,000 dollar bill on top of my payments. i will never buy chrysler products again!!! this car has been nothing but a headache. i purchased this car hoping it would get me through college and a few more years until i could afford something in a higher class, but with all the money i have to stick in this i will never be able to save for something nicer.

Wonderful car. I absolutely loved it. The only problem with it was the start went on it. I knew that Neons had head gasket problems but if you take car of them right they are fine. I had no leaks and no other problems. When I got in the accident it had 133000km on it and I am sure that it would have gone for more. I loved this car.

I must say, this car has the looks,but here it stops.Being a South African I always had the perception that the American made cars are good and reliable cars. Unfortunately my views has changed upon purchasing this car.First there was a oil leak, I took it to the dealers and a camshaft censor seal had to be replaced.After this there where a grinding nose at the brakes, the problem was a lock bearing that came loose. The front suspention makes noises when you go over the slightest bump in the road. The final straw with this car was when it just died down when I was on holiday. The car just starting to loose power and stopped,after half and hour it started again,but after 20 kilometers lost power again, this repeated for about 450 kilometers. I hope I can still get a decent price for it.

THe value went down too fast.

That is the best car i ever owned. It has never given me any problems. So far its running perfect. After the instalation of Garret G25 Turbo now the car outputs 280HP and even though it is automatic it now runs 0-60 in 5.2 sec. It is the best car to upgrade for perfomance. Body Kit EREBUNI wiht Eibach suspension. Also Cat Back exhaust system.

I can't even list them again I might cry, just the deprecation of the cars value is enough to make me kick myself in the ass I had to give it to my little brother cause I couldn't even get someone to give $1000.00 for it.

This car is pure EVIL!!! People warned me & I just didn't listen. I was very happy with my cute little car for the 1st 2 years but suprise, suprise about the time the warranty was up so was my joy of owning a Dodge Neon!!! I can't even count the times into the shop, the specifics make my head hurt. Pretty much just more of the same the head gaskets, sqeaky brakes, I also a had alot of problems with the exhaust, a/c broke so many times I gave up & would rather live w/out then give those Neon manufacturing devils another cent for there crappy parts, etc, etc. I'm glad someone mentioned the leaky trunk I thought maybe that was my very own unique problem but good to know someone else has to deal with that horrible moldy smell that causes me to avoid my trunk at all costs!!!!! Also one problem that I encounterd was a girlfriend of mine was getting into the passanger side (to my knowledge she has no super powers) she shut the door & the window shattered, needless to say she avoided getting into my car ever again!!!! Also my interior lights shorted out & would blink on & off like a strob light making it near impossible to drive at night!!! Anyway don't let its cute little appearence & it's decent amount of pick up fool you, it just secretly waiting to fall apart!!!!! I actually got a lecture from a mechanic about all the things Dodge did to cut costs & how they tested the parts to last just over the basic warranty. So good news for the smart people who spent the extra cash on the extended!!!
