hugs road real good, take off excellent for a v4 yes i said v4 sorry but i had to have a stick. great body looks and a real nice car to get girls, and roomy too for in the back seat. come on dont tell me you havent thought of it
Weakness:
electrical system is pickey on what you can and cant use. cant use halogen lights and head lights are a b1tch to deal with. as well as the dummy lights instead of gauges so you dont know when something is wrong when the check engine light comes on. all avengers should come with fog lights. grrr...that was hard but doable. ive had mine for quite some time and love the crap out of it. thats it period.even thought i got it with 68k miles on it, it still drives bran new. modifications cold air intake, exaust, had to get factory rims and a sun roof cuz the person before me was to cheap to get the package, a wing cuz the spoilers suck @ss. and exterior lighting as well as interior lighting. got seating redone to leather (o yea)... navigational and personal computer as well as cd/dvd ( no NOS cheap sh*t ) Similar Products Used: chrysler 2000- interior and electrical dash eagle ?- interior and electrical dash eclipse 1998- interior and electrical dash |

GREAT LOOKING CAR CORNERS FAST AS HELL GOES FAST AS HELL LIKE 150+ MPH YES I'VE DONE IT.. RADIO SOUNDS GREAT PLENTY OF ROOM IN THE CAR AND ROOM IN THE TRUNK FOR 4 12S WILL BEAT ALMOST ANYTHING TOPEND AND A LOT OF THOSE CHEAP SPORTS CARS LIVE THE CAVS, MUSTANGS HAD TO SAY IT MINE WILL KEEP UP WITH A 98 V8 STICK...
Weakness:
TURNING RADIOUS TRANNY SLOW AT GETTING INTO GEAR B1TCH TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS(ON V6) EXPENSIVE PARTS REAR CALIPER IS $200. ROUGH RIDE WITH THE 17 INCH RIMS FOLLOWS THE ROAD A LITTLE TO MUCH AT TIMES COPS LIKE TO PULL YOU OVER EVEN IF YOUR DOING THE SPEED LIMIT... THEN TELL YOU IT LOOKS NICE... ? GOT ME... I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT NINE MONTHS NOW AND I'LL SAY I BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF MY CARS. NOTHING STUPID THOUGH. I'VE PUT A COLD AIR KIT ON IT...MAKES IT SOUND REAL MEAN. YOU CAN DO IT FOR REAL CHEAP TRY IT GO TO PEPBOYS OR CHECKER AND JUST BUY ONE OF THOSE UNIVERSAL CONE FILTERS TKE THE STOCK FILTER OFF THE WHOLE THING AND JUST CLAMP THE FILTER ON. IT'S THAT EASY YOU'LL NOTICE SOME SPEED INCREASE BUT MOST OFF ALL THE COOL LOUD SOUND IT MAKES, THAT SCREAMS MITSUBISHI. THEN I PUT SOME CUSTOM EXHAUST FOR A SOUND THAT CAN'T BE MATCHED I THINK THE CAR IS AWESOME. WISH IT WAS FASTER OFF THE LINE THOUGH. CAN TAKE ANYTHING WHEN ALREADY MOVING SUCH AS A FIREBIRD I THINK IT'S THE WS6... THAT YELLOW AND BLACK THING... COULDN'T MAKE IT OUT IN THE TINY REAR-VIEW MIRROR... BUY ONE!!! I THINK MINE LIKES GETTING BEAT ON. GLUED TO THE ROAD: IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM IN A RACE BEAT THEM AROUND THE CORNER... THAT'S WHAT I SAY... JUST HAVE FUN WITH IT. Strength:
cool factory system: nice leather seats: good speed and smooth sailing sood safety features lots of room trunk locks automatically when taking off in case of accidently popping the trunk instead of the gas tank. You can't lock the keys in it
Weakness:
bad gas mileage when you are used to a 4 cylinder 5-speed breaks go bad fast parts are expensive I love my car. I had to replace the transmission sensor within a month, but I have a warranty. The factory speakers, amp, and rims are really rad. I always heard the electrical stuff go out quickly on Dodge but I don't believe it. |

Looks good. 24 valve V6. Handling is great. Interior is comfortable and spacious.
Weakness:
None yet. I just got the car and i love how it handles. I owned a Ford Probe previous to this car. The Probe had a turbo so it was quicker on take off but the Avenger has more pep at higher speeds. Still a quick car in its own right. Looks good, i get some stares when i cruise around. Stereo sounds good for stock. Interior is comfortable and roomy for a two door sport coupe. I love this car. |

I4 5-speed/97 V6
Strength:
Great to drive, fun and sporty.. Reliable.. Great gas milage 30/mpg + in the I4 5-speed..
Weakness:
Like all frameless windows, the seals leak under pressure.. The V6 lacks real power for the displacement difference.. (I4 can wipe it any day).. 96 I4 5-speed Bought my 96 in May 01, with 81,000.. Now in Dec 02 with 130,000.. $7,000 only maintence: Spark Plugs once.. Oil 4k~5k miles... Right Rear hub assembly ~$350 installed.. And in my garage now replacing the clutch.. ~$230 I need to fix the air dam, large crack due to parking on top of the lot blocks.. Bought my Girlfriend a 97 V6 July 02... 80k miles.. $7,000 Runs good, but I need to replace the 02 sensor... My thoughts on both.. they're both great cars.. The 2.0I4 shares it's drivetrain/powertrain with the n/a eclipse/talon/neon so you can get some parts a little cheaper by purchasing them for the other car.. I4 has more power and pickup than the V6 (this would probably be untrue if they made a 5-speed V6, the auto tranny is weak) Turbo kits/upgrades are abundantly available for the 2.0I4... Dodge Avenger ES
Strength:
Great speed. Reliable. Safety (5-star crash tests) Did I mention SPEED? Great Interior Design & Quality. Aggressive Looks. Don't see too many of them. Very fun to drive. Stable at very high speeds. Handles well (besides U-turns. this thing behaves like a double-decker bus then). Very roomy for a sports car. Corners like there's super-glue on the bottom of the tires. Heat & A/C work great. SPEEEEED!
Weakness:
Brakes squeek at times & wear quickly. O2 sensor seems to be a wide-spread problem. (Note: gas-mileage goes to #$&% with one out. Get it repaired quickly {about $100 w/ labor} or you'll end up spending just as much in gas). Grinding/squeeking transmission, though I've been told by most people that it's normal w/ chrysler cars. Doesn't seem to affect performace any. *GAS-HOG* if your heavy on the pedal too often. Otherwise, its decent. (25mpg or so) Few after-market parts. Could use a turbo or supercharger. Insurance alittle high for this car (though that could have something to do w/ me being 18). Crappy stock paint job. (chips/scratches at the slightest of things. Spoiler seems to be loosing its color ever-so-slightly in certain places. Window seals arn't very good. Be careful pressure washing your car, or you'll create a mobil swimming pool. Edges of rims seem to be corroding slightly. Someone told me this is because when they balanced my wheels, the weights broke the clear-coat on the tires and water has crept in-between the seal and the metal. Gonna have to sand it down, re-polish it, and re-seal it. Not a biggy though. I currently have an Avenger w/ close to 60,000 miles on it. Still runs great. What first attracted me to this car was the looks, and price. I has a very strong sporty look, without being overboard (celica/tiburon anyone?). Really good price for this type of car. I admit that I occasionally do alittle over the speed limit (ahem, 145+ anyone?), but it performs without a hiccup. Well, almost. Blew out the rear O2 sensor at 150mph, but that was my fault. And no, I'm not kidding, this thing can and WILL hit 150 and above, though it may take alittle time past 120. I dont know about the rest of you guys reviews, but mine has great pickup. I've beat (so-far) tricked out hondas, toyota celicas, grand-ams, even a few grand-prixs and mustangs. It can keep up with jags and BMWs, but not too sure about smoking them. I also like how you can drive down the street and not see 5 of them every 3 miles. It seems not too many people have them, and that's a big plus to me. I'm currently saving money to really fix it up. I plan on tinting the windows, putting sportier rims on it (though the stock ones are pretty good), trying to find a turbo/super, replacing speakers (previous owner blew 'em all to h*ll, changing exaust, air-filter, computer chip, and maybe adding ground effects. Summary: This car is a great car, especially for the price, and has alot of potental to really be a head-turner. Similar Products Used: none. But have owned a 1993 Lincoln town car. Losts of power! Ever seen a granny-car beat a mustang? *grin* And fun as hell to drive rough. Handled like a tank, but that was the fun of it. Sheer ins |
