I owned a Nissan Pathfinder and was hesitant on buying something American. I was driving down the road one day and fell in love with a 97 Dodge Avenger. Every day I would pass by the car lot, I'd look at the Avenger. I couldn't help but look and felt myself rubbernecking it everyday. I had to test drive it!! Once I got into the car, and took it for a test drive, I fell in love with it. I took it up to 80 mph in no time flat. Everyone looks at the car when I drive it around. I get compliments all the time. I've never experienced a problem with the car. I keep the oil changed and the transmission fluids changed too. Doesn't need much of anything else. This car hugs every corner like it wasn't ever going to see that corner again. I just can't stop the props with this car!!

Handling, comfortness, looks.

I have had some problems: strange tire wear, replaced ball joints, electrical swiches go out (power mirrors, Chair), terbine sensor went out, and finally the transmisson (3rd. yr.)

I really love this car. It's comfortable, handles great and has the best stock audio system! Although I have had some problems with this car i still love it.

I work at a car dealership and I have to tell ya I've driven just about every make and model of car there is one the roads today...BUT... we got a 97 Avenger ES/silver....beautiful Car and loaded.....well needless to say, the day the car was brought to my lot (w/ 106,000 miles) I fell in love with it. It has been two years now ( a record for me to have a car that long) that I have been driving the car (now has 123,000 miles)and I am still as much in live with my car as I was the day it pulled on the lot. I have done nothing to the car except oil changes and it runs like a brand new car. I LOVE MY AVENGER!!!! I have had so many offers to sell it, but I have to tell you, the day that car and I are no longer together is the day it dies or is in an accident with unfixable damage, and I don't think it's gonna die anytime soon.

Too soon to tell.

I purchash this car about two weeks ago. It is fully loaded, with leather seats.moon roof and spoiler. It has the 2.5 v6. the color is silver mist pearl coat, it is amazing how the color changes with different lighting. It has 17" low profile tires, with koing spoke rims.this avenger takes curves like there is glue on the bottom of the tires.It has 106,000 miles, and other than a few nicks in the paint, it is in showroom condition. Sweet car ,very sweet deal.

I love this car. It took me 2 years to say the money to pay for this car and even though I got it used after 1 year. i was so happy that I was driving away with the car of my dreams that I hugged the salesman. I have never had any major problems other than general maintenance. I love this car so much that after the three years that I have had it and the two more I have to finish paying it off I don't have a clue as to what kind of car I might want. I have even thought about keeping it and in 50 years it will be my CLASSIC CAR. Since they don't make this model car anymore it is already a classic. How lucky and I to have something that you can't get new anymore. As for Ashleys review, she has no idea what she is talking about, this is a GREAT CAR. Every single car has its share of problems whether its a Dodge, Ford or even a Lexus. So if your looking at a used Avenger, and are not sure what to do, remember how no matter how old the car is, something will need to be fixed or replaced whether it's an Avenger or not.

This is the worst car I have ever owned. I has exhaust problems, alternator problems, catalytic converter problems....you get the point. DON'T EVER BUY A DODGE!!!!

when i first bought it i had to fix alot neede wheel bearings brake pads rotors struts lower ball joints ect. but now no rpoblems at all i have put and eibach lowering kit on and accel injectors aem cold air intake modern image graphics r1 racing sports aluminum wing tinted windows carbon fiber dash highlights under body neon and interior neon 2 12 inch subs nitto extreme preformance tires hood scoop nitrous express kit and still to come body kit shaved doors 20 inch wheels hid head lights and so much more and can u believe some people say they cant find anything for this car ya right all in all i have about 30,000 in it including the price of the car and still willing to put more in if i find the right add ons

I hate the stupid brake problems that i know im gonna face Headlamp is expensive as heck $288!!!! Sound it makes when you press the brakes to stop from high speed and the whole turn radius thing

I've looked at the summaries of all the others and kinda get scared of driving this car. I agree with the problem I hear about with the brakes and turn radius (experienced it when i was coming home with the car). Oh yeah, don't say their isn't many performance parts for this car, cuz just go to E-bay and type in "Dodge Avenger". A freind of mine and I are trying to devise a way to get a turbo (off an older model eclipse) onto the car as we speak (not sure how or were though). Also if u want alittle more Umph to this car, buy a KAI (cold air intake) and buy an ERAM (!!!Dont BUY THOSE IMITATIONS ON EBAY THEY"LL MESS UP THE ENGINE AND THEIR BILGE PUMPS FOR BOATS!!!) and just stick it on the car and watch what happens....vrooom and such a sweet sound, chips are easy to find and worth the price (another Ebay item i saw for 30 bucks) and this is all for a I4. Right now im trying to get a fender and a hood and a headlamp assembly (someone hit it in a McDonalds parking lot and took off which left me with a 800-1.2k repair job) I have the stock system in the 97's and i have to say it has some push for a stock car but hate how its got Mitsubishi all over the engine oh yeah this things gets stared at by the opposite sex and gets me in trouble when im w/ my girlfriend but i love it. lol but hey if your really determined to smack some power into this car, then you'll find it, but dont complain cuz you think it hard My engine was 140 hp but when tested i now have close to 175 and thats just with some cheap stuff (the ERAM and KAI) fixing to get some exhaust (DTM or FIREBALL) which is supposed to give me like a 6-10% HP boost and if the turbo thing works ...Sweet... also im gonna buy those cheap chips for it 10-15 hp and they save on the gas. Oh yeah body kits make this car into a real head turner (I saw one with a TCS body kit with the viper induction hood and red flames on the body over black...beautiful). I need to get into a Standard or racing manual transmission so thats my next quest so ill post later but otherwise its a great car with some performance and maintance probs. Oh yeah i really did pay only 2,700 for the car

Bad turning radius, brakes....They don't make them anymore!

I love my new car so much!! I got my Dodge Avenger as a gift from my parents because my 1992 Mustang was racking up the miles. This car is fun, fast and is a total attention hog. One of the best parts of the car is the fact that all though it is two door the back seat is huge so there is a ton of room for my friends. The only problem that other reviews mention is that I have to replace the brake pads. No big problems though. I love this car!
