Strength:

-Looks -Very peppy I-4 -User friendly controls -Very few problems with the car thus far. -Good sound system and shocks factory. -Great gas mileage -Gets around good in the snow. -Lots and lots of room -Turns heads constantly

Weakness:

-Came factory with 14 inch hubs. -quality of some interior things. -Burning oil. -No spoiler on mine at least. -Turning radius of a tractor trailor.

I''ve had pretty good look with this car thus far, for a 2.0 4 cylinder I''ve beated an old style mustang, and numerous other V-6 vehicles. I''ve added a K&n filter, a Magnaflow Universal Exhaust which added a heck of a lot more torque and hp, the styling on this car is top notch considering it came out in 1995, years ahead of its time. I wish they could''ve came with bigger tires than 14''s, but im going to put some American Racing Rims on in the next few months.

the only other vehicle i''ve owned is a 1985 blazer with a 2.8 V-6, this car would''ve ran circles around that thing it was as slow as it could be, i LOVE my avenger.

Strength:

The looks, and the fact that the es comes with a decent sound system.

Weakness:

The power and the fact that there really arent any mods for tis ca. They are out there but they are really hard to find.

This car is a good looking car. The only thing that i dot like about it is the power. There is nothing to it really. The V-6 is way under powered. And te fact that you cant b the V-6 witha maual transmisson just sucks. When i bought the car there were only like 2 other ones i the area, but now there are many. so the car really looks good. And yes you will get laid in this car. That is how metmy ex-wife.

Good passing power, and very decent sound system. Looks and runs great. Looks awesome with tinted windows and racing rims.

Weakness:

The turning radius and take off power aren''t too good. The security system is also a pain in the ass.

I''ve had a very good experience with this car. The only thing I''ve had replaced are the brakes. It''s ran great and I''ve had no major problems. It even beat a 96 Grand Prix GTP.

Strength:

Weakness:

Power on takeoff my fellow avenger owners. Power is a definite weakness.

I bought my Avenger Sept. 2000 after I totalled out my Beretta. The first thing I noticed was the power windows because I had never had power windows before. Myself and a friend picked it out and took it for a test drive and I immediately loved it. With the way the interior was from the drivers side all the way over to the passenger side, I felt like I was in a jet. It just seemed to wrap around me and fit me like a glove. I knew I wanted this car and it was going to be my third one from this dealership. I got the car and after awhile started to make some improvements as far as stereo system and outside cosmetics upgrades but nothing real expensive. I took the stero from my Beretta (c.d. player, 300W. Jensen amp, and set of 12''''s in a sealed box and got them hooked up. Needless to say, the car shook with the stereo cranked up. I put my fog lights on, got a bug-shield, and finally some blackout covers for the headlights. I added some new wheels and she looked like a completely different car. I also added a fuzz-buster (very much so needed), and a interior windshield decal that fit across the length of the windshield reading (FEAR-THIS). I have read all the reviews already about other avenger owners and have to quickly agree. The avenger lacks power on takeoff, bigtime. I got beat by a 80''''s model Camaro about a 1 1/2 weeks ago from start to finish. I have a 2.0 under the hood and would like to have either a V-6 or a V-8. My avenger looks great and has turned heads from the day I got it up to today. I love my car but would like to do some upgrading to the engine and every where else on the car. Tried getting taillight covers but they don''''t exist. Dodge does need an "affordable", and "sporty" car to compete with Chevy''''s, and Ford''''s out there because the Viper can only be afforded by the wealthy and I am not wealthy. I have had to change the brakes twice and probably will have to again soon. I have had some problems lately though since I broke a timing belt a couple of months ago. I have had to have 4 serpentine belts put on because they continue to break. The car lot where I got it originally thought it was the air conditioning pump locking up and now think that the problem is the tension adjuster. Wish me luck.

Strength:

Nice looking and smooth riding

Weakness:

Interior is cheaply made, lots of mechanical problems- but I here this is classic "Dodge" behavior.

Unfortunately, this car has given me problems since day one. A day after purchasing the vehicle, the transmission went. Luckily the dealer replace it. The car has developed a shutter when I brake- had everything checked out and apparently it is okay. The window controls are really chintzy as several have already broken off. The headliner is beginning to peel off as well. I''ve had to replace many tires, the hubs, and just recently the head gasket and waterpump!

Power

This car has a lot of good looks, spent more than i wanted to, but bought it for 2300 + parts, so not to bad. This Dodge did need power but there''s always the turbo you can buy and add on. Have made many alterations including wing, rims/tires, stereo, lowering kit, body modifications, and next is the turbo. Very roomy, my 6''6" dad fits comfortably inside.

Many of you have said that the 4cyl. dohc has no power. I have succeeded in beating a 2000 mustang, and a nissan 300zx, and a ford thunderbird. if you know how to drive a stick the car will run like a god for you.

Weakness:

i have so far found no problems other than the break pads getting eaten up fairly quickly

I love my car. It is my pride and joy. I get compliments on my car practically every day. I live in Miami now where there are a lot of rich people and it still surprises me how many compliments i get on my car.

Weakness:

Tires, alignment, brakes, door handles

I bought my Avenger in the spring of 98 and loved it. The first 20K miles were great, but then I had to replace a pair of tires. This seemed odd since I rotate every 6k. No less, tires were worn out. I had to replace the other original pair at 30K along with rotars and brakes. By this time car aligned twice. No skip to today, flat tire. About to nuy tires number 9 and 10 and get my fourth alignment. Total miles to date...50,454. I tell you, this car is worth every penny of it''s price. Oh yeah...the best part. I have had to replace both exterior door handles as they both broke on the same day. I love having keys in hand and not being able to enter my car. Boy, that was an expensive repair also.

Strength:

Hey it looks good, not sure about resale/trade-in value, but its the wifes car and she likes it

Weakness:

Expensive parts, no repair manuals except from dodge at 100.00

After reading alot of the other reviews we realized that during our test drive the car had the common brake pedal pulsation, shake, Ran good but like everyone else really lacks the power. Good dependable car for 1st year, other than the buttons on the upgraded stereo with cd player don''t work right, have to push them couple times to change a station but something we could live with, cd with infinity speakers rocked pretty good. Going on second year power door lock mechanisms screwed up, drivers door button wont unlock doors, unlocking door with key that used to unlock both doors quit working, so started using the passenger dooor lock/key, to enter, well lock mechanism fell inside door, retaining clip missing, spring tension rods in trunk popped real load like someone smashe dinto trunk now trunk won''t stay up when opened. Had the rotors turned , lasted about 2 months warpage came back, replaced front rotors worked for a while, shake came back, this time, had rear rotors turned and replaced front and rear pads plus turned front rotors, a little tip, took a wire brush on a small grinder, cleaned all the rust from the mounting surfaces, around wheel studs, back side of rotors, torqued the wheels to about 85 foot pounds in a star sequence, a very important step, brakes feel great, no shake or pulsation now for 5 months. Read where some owners paid extremely high prices for spark plug changes due to having to pull the manifold, well I make my living as a mechanic, not at a dealer but have done this for many years so before I jump-ed in to change mine I checked the flat rate manual that dealers use to determine how long it takes and how many hours you will pay for even though it doesn"t take that long, well for changing the spark plugs and spark plug wires the book lists about 1.6 hours, at dealer rates of around 65 to 70 dollars per hour, it shouldn''t cost no more than about 105 to 110. in labor excluding the parts, I just finished changing mine, first time I have ever done them, anfd the car has 98,000 miles on it it took me about 1.5 hours and thats with a stop for liquid refreshments. So hopefully this info my help a few people, parts are really expensive, got my cap, rotor, wires discount thru my work but still paid about 125.00 for the parts.
