Strength:

nice handeling and ride. great value for the coin.very comfortable seats,(I'm 6'2"!!) nicely equipped, has the feel of quality!!

Weakness:

Common complaint, steering wheel is to close to dash. cup holder is cheesy!!

I bought this without a whole lot of info to go on, and the dealer really made me an attractive offer on this wagon. they gave me an unbelieveable amount of coin for my 96 piece of junk Tarus wagon and threw in 36/36 all mantainence covered. there service dept is fantastic!!!. This same dealership also sells other domestic used, it is interesting to me that when i get my oil changed, the only service work that is being performed is on junk domestic product!!( In case you have not realized it that is the way ford makes thier money, there cars fall, and I mean fall apart right at warranty expiration!!!)Bottom Line: If you are searching for a quality, reasonablly priced ride, you can not go wrong!!

have owned numerous over the years. this car is much superior to anything in the ford line, ie Tarus(what ever you do run, don't walk away from this junk!!!) I just turned over 20,000, feels as toght as the day that it was purchased!!. comprable in quality, at least thus far, to the honda civic!!( the ride is actually much better!!, seats are far more comfortable!!)

Model Reviewed: Daewoo Nubira

Strength:

The styling is very sporty, sort of Lexus or Mercedes looking. The car is a very good value compared to Neon or Civic. The standard features sold me, as well as the 36,000 mile bumber to bumper warranty. So far I have had no problems other than a broken washer cap, which the dealer replaced. The engine has plenty of power and sounds healthy when pushed hard. The brakes are also very good, although they take more effort at first than other vehicles I've driven, but then really stop well when needed.

Weakness:

No matter how I adjust the seats and tilt wheel, my arms are always a bit too stretched out compared to my legs. If I move the seat forward, my knees hit the bottom of the wheel. I'm 5'10", so maybe Koreans have longer arms than most Americans? The ignition key still will not find the ignition on the first try, maybe the key is too square on the end? A light would be a nice feature. The passenger door has developed a rustling, rattling type of noise that is very annoying over rough roads and really irritates me in the otherwise quiet interior. The milage is about 27 mpg average for my long, slow commute. The transmission has a "dead" spot just before downshifting that allows the car ahead to pull away before I accelelerate. The horn could sound more convincing to all the SUV's, also.

I would highly recommend Daewoo for any first-time buyer who likes Toyota or Honda. The fully loaded CDX only cost a couple thousand more than the cheapest SE, and included four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and CD player and auto. I hope the company stays in business in America. The car seems very solid and well build and looks much better than any boring Civic or Corolla. The dealer gave me almost zero pressure and didn't try to over-sell the car.

It rides almost as nice as my mom's 2000 Buick Regal and cost about half as much. A similar Neon would have cost about $18,000 compared to the $15,000 I spent.

Strength:

Good Styling.Lots of options for the money.

Weakness:

Bad crash test scores. Unproven reliability. Loud engine. Low mpg for its class. Questionable future value.

I took the Nubira for a couple of test drives. After doing some research about the car and the company, I came to the conclusion that it was not worth buying. The company has been in serious financial trouble for quite some time. Crash tests have shown the car to be in the poor category. Also, the future value of Daewoo cars in this country is very questionable. You may initially get a super deal, but after a few years, if the car is only worth 30% of what you paid for it, then it doesn't work out to be a good deal afterall. That's something to consider. Instead of the Nubira, I ended up buying a 2000 Toyota Corolla. It faired much better in the crash tests, gets better gas mileage, has a quieter engine (even when you push it), proven reliability and a much higher resale value. In the long run, the Corolla will end up being the better deal. To summarize, If you are looking for long term overall value, the Nubira is a bad choice. Perhaps in a few years if they can prove themselves, I might change my mind, but for right now I'm not willing to be the guinea pig.

Strength:

A good value. Similarly equipped , Proteges, Carollas, Civics, or Sentras cost hundreds more. It certainly isn't 'Vette fast, but it is sprightly. Braking is good, and it holds the road well. Controls are fairly well laid out and logical. The automatic transmission is very smooth. It has a smooth ride for a car it's size. I picked it up as a comfy and economical car for commuting (to keep reasonable mileage on my Audi's odometer), and it certainly fits the bill. The firm seats (which are highly adjustable) are comfortable, and can easily fit four adults. Headroom is plentiful. The trunk is huge. It's fun to drive.

Weakness:

The gas mileage is disappointing for a car competing in this category (I got only 25 HWY). The steering wheel is too close to the dash. The engine whines fairly loudly when reving. The tail-lights on the 99 look cheap, but thankfully (too late for me) the 00's tails have a more refined look. As far as climate, temperature is good, but the air flow is only fair, with too much hot/cold reaching the drivers foot, and poor flow through side dash vents.

I picked this car up to commute (55 mi. each way). It was used (8 months old), with 5700 miles, for $9900. CDX has AM/FM/Cass/CD, power locks, windows, and steering, cruise, alloy wheels, and ABS. WOW!

Although I've had it for only about a week, I like it. I must say that I'm a bit nervous that a $16,000 vehicle (in excellent condition), with only 5700 miles sold for $9900 (even IF I got the deal). For other Korean cars, Kia & Hyundai, reliability has been a bit low, and depreciation has been high. Reputation has been amusing. I hope Daewoo fairs better---I think it will.

But, nonetheless, so far, so good. I get many compliments about the Woo's styling--folks compare it to my Audi or to BMWs--it really is (with the single exception of those horrendous tail-lights) a pretty snazzy looking little car.

Time will tell...

Have owned Jetta, Celica, 626, Maxima and Accord. Currently also own A4. Have driven Civic, Elantra, Carolla, and Sentra, and the Woo is certainly a solid competitor. The price, included scheduled maintainence, and roadside assistance are certainly a plus. My other car is a wonderful 99 Audi A4, and I don't feel too, too deprived when commuting in my Woo.

Great car, Solid built lots of features. I picked it up as a dealership demo for 13k. Fully loaded!!! Smooth drive,no problems. They have gained my respect as a car company (Not all Korean Cars are bad)

Weakness:

Cup holder, it is in the way of the radio and will not accept a larger cup.

for 13 to 15k you can not get a car built as solid and trouble free. a three year service warrenty and roadside assistance helps to (gas and go).

I dont understand those postings with problems as there is a three year 36k bumper to bumper warrenty that will cover the described problems. There are many more satisfied drivers than dissatisfied. There will be plenty of industry paid for negitive surveys. IGNORE THEM!!!!

this is a great car company and i hope to see more

Very comfortable. The CDX model has all the options you could want. Very large trunk for storage. Very good stereo system.

Weakness:

So so gas milage. So so engine power. Poor cup holders.

Price paid $15K. Yes I would recommend it mainly for the service. I took my Daewoo in for the 6000 mi. check up and they did everything, they even washed it. The only problem I have had is with the Kumho tires. I had a defective tire which the the dealer took care of right away. I have since ordered a full size spare.

Strength:

Value loaded! Has everything your heart desires in options that come standard.

Weakness:

Alloy wheels are hard to clean because of fussy design, cupholders need to be relocated.

This car is a pleasure to own. It is a great one to look at for a family in search of something that will be an all around runner without running them financially into the ground. Great looks, plenty of power, and a free service plan for three years that takes care of it all including oil changes and wiper blades.
