Strength:

Nice and heavy car. Handles well on the road. sporty yet luxurious design. Rides smooth.

Weakness:

Front end could have been built stronger and little higher from the ground. Window bolts inside door break too easy.

I Bought my sebring when it was a year old. I've had it now for about 4 years. I still love it as much as I did when I bought it. The only things I've had to have fixed were new brakes and rotors in the front(which are understandable being there are 92000 miles on it!)and the driver side window rattle..I don't understand why so many other people have so many problems- must be the previous owners not maintaining their vehicle.I do wish the front end was a little bit higher though. I don't care what anyone else thinks-I LOVE this car! I still recieve lots of compliments also. I plan on keeping this car for many years to come.

Terrible ride Brakes need to be replaced prematurely Front wheel bearings replaced at 40,000 miles Front end so low always rubbing against curbs in parking lot Paint has numerous chips Driver's door drips inside when it rains

I bought my 1998 Sebring Convertible as a leftover in October of 1999 and it was the worst move I have ever made. The road noise in unbearable, the doors squeak with every little bump, the convertible boot did not fit right because they had used the car in a parade and someone must have sat on it. The dealer promised a new boot which I have never received. My husband fixed the original boot himself. The car shakes like an off balence washing machine. I had to have new brakes including rotors at 40,000 miles. I had front wheel bearings replaced shortly thereafter, none of this under warranty of course. The worst problem that I had was this past summer when we had a rain storm I found huge puddles of water on the passenger side floors front and rear. When I drove the car you could hear large amounts of water sloshing back and forth like I was driving a boat. I took it in for service and was told that the drain holes were clogged. They needed to drain the water from the compartment under the seats and clear the drain holes. The car was no longer under warranty and this was the same time that they replaced the front wheel bearings which I was charged $400 for but for some strange reason was not charged for the water extraction. Also my rear speakers were not working which no one informed me was most likely due to the water damage. I could replace them for another $300 which I opted not to due. With so much road noise I couldn't hear the rear speakers anyways. The next time it rained I again noticed water on the passenger side floors. I again took it to the dealer and was told that the drain holes were still clogged and needed to be cleaned again. I was also not charged for this service call. (Was someone trying to cover up a problem?) The last time it rained you guessed it, more water in the car. By now the car was smelling of mildew and I always had to defrost the windows before driving it in the middle of summer! I then called the dealership where I purchased the car and they gave me the name of the person who they pay to come in and inspect any water leaks. I left my car at this person's home for a weekend and he found many other areas that water was leaking into the car but couldn't promise that it wouldn't happen again. He contacted the dealer where he had previously worked on my car and asked who had paid for the previous service because the car was no lon

back end and front low hanging bumper.

I throughly enjoy my Sebring. It's stylish and comfortable. The ride is smooth and it is quiet. The dash layout if logical and user friendly. The 3.0 engine is powerful and smooth. Two down sides. The back end is jacked up high, therefore making backing up a bit tricky at times. Also, the front bumper hangs low and you must be careful pulling into parking places. Overall, satisfied, and would buy another Chrysler, but, not from TATE in Frederick as they didn't deal very well.

Everything else.

I have had this "car" for 3 months now, I bought the car and purchased a 1500 extended warranty with it that covered basically everything, (HAHA). Well, the other day while idling at a stop light the engine drops to about 1K rpm and starts misfiring like crazy, check engine light comes on. Ok, no problem, take it to Pep Boys, they tell me that their diagnostic machine can't read chrysler computers, and then charge me $86 bucks for the diagnostic anyways. Great. So, off to the Chrysler dealership we go. I get an appointment and bring it in. Apparently the misfire was due to my fuel pump sucking up air. So they tell me to always keep at least 1/4 tank of gas, nothing wrong with the car. I ask them to change out the spark plugs and wires for me, in case I fouled one, $540 estimated, because they have to take apart the intake manifold to get to half the spark plugs, and remove the fuel pump to get the the distributor cap and rotor. Fantastic. I decline the work and have hust spent $230 dollars to have somebody press "reset" on my computer. WAY TO GO CHRYSLER. But wait, to add the final touch, when I pick up my car (at the CHRYSLER dealership mind you) the mechanic pulls me aside and tells me that it would be in my best interest to sell it as soon as possible, because Sebrings in general are nothing but problems. Wonderful.

Everything from bumper to bumper. brakes, struts, lights, exhaust, ball joints, tie rods, whole font end, even the gas cap broke.

I have driven this 96 Sebring for about 1.5 years and the only thing that i've done to it has been fixing it every week. This is just a few things that i put into the car. 4 new rotors. 2 sets of brakes. 4 new tires because of the front end. all new ball joints. rack and pinion. 4 new struts and hardware. 4 new wheel bearings. exhaust y pipe. and so on and so on.This car has been in the shop for recalls and very bad design for most of the parts they put on it. The inside lights short out, everything rattle's and the best part of all is chrysler don't back sh*t.It cost over $800 just for wheel bearing's and $525 for one part of the exhaust. If you like spending all you money on fixing your car then buy chrysler.I won't take a chrysler if you gave to me because i can't afford to fix them every week. It's sad to say but USA builds cars to break down so they keep making money and the japan company's build car to last.If i didn't have $20,000 plus into this car i would be trading it in for some kind of japan built vehicle.

Brake pad wore out in 4 months and i did not even drive it for 4,000 miles yet. The windsheild molding came off while i was washing the car. Had to press brake pedal all the way down when i put the car in park for the pin to lock on the gear shifter. Power windows did not work properly. Starter had to be changed. Can't park properly due to low front and high rearend. Molding came off of door when i closed it. Trans fluid started to leak. All these problems and this car had only 34,000 miles on it.

I leased this car in September of 1999. The car is very good looking,i had no real problem with it. But i only had it ror about six months, i had to terminate my lease because of financial problems. Iam thinking of getting a SEBRING or AVENGER but after reading these reviews i am having second thoughts.

Weakness:

Lying and dishonest Chrysler dealers and sales people Worst turning circle of all cars and trucks Brakes need constant replacement Power assist on brake system very poor. Lots of engine and road noise Underpowered engine for a ‘sporty car’ Very Stiff suspension for a semi-luxury model

After having my car for 8 months, Chrysler cars are never again unless they are company cars. Bought my used 1997 Lxi in Dec 2001 with 48K miles. There was a noise on the left front wheel when driven on rough surface. Salesman told me he will have it fixed before I pick it up. After signing the paperwork, he said he only promised to have it checked. Should have had this in writing I was told, too late. The noise turns out to be a problem with front suspension mounting. ($ 800 to fix it) Never got it fixed. The second surprise was the turning circle. I think the Lxi’s (1997) have the largest turning circle of all cars and trucks. Have to do a three point U-turn even on a 3 lane highway. I hate my car for this. Then, I had to replace the brakes after only 4K miles and 6K miles later, they are squealing again. The power assist on the brakes is very poor. You have to use a lot of foot pressure on the brake pedal to stop especially on abrupt stops. The sound system is great but the front door speakers vibrated too much. I replaced them myself with good quality ones. The shocks are very stiff and give a very rough ride. Probably will replace with softer comfort ride shocks. I took a road trip one week ago. I had no problems except for excessive road noise and high engine revolutions at cruising speeds. They should put a 3.0 or bigger engine on this car. I am praying that I don’t get more problems with my car. It’s a 1997 with only 58K miles but I am already considering trading it in for a Honda Prelude.
