Brakes, brakes, brakes

The brakes on this car are the worst I have ever seen. I have replaced at least every 9000 miles. I have never had this problem with brakes since I have been driving, 26 years. As far as I am concerned the good looks and the comfortable interior are not worth the brake situation.

See all of the above

I would not recommend this product to anyone. I purchased a new 2001 Sebring LX in February 2002 off of the showroom floor. In the past 15 months, the car has been in the repair shop 6 different times and is in need for another visit. At 21,000 miles (most of which are highway miles), the car needed new brakes. The service manager told me this was normal. That means over the course of 100,000 miles, brakes will be replaced 5 times! Another time the vehicle was brought in for a recall. After leaving the car for the day, all they did was order the part, no work was performed yet they knew this is what I was bringing it in for. Another time the blower fan gave out and needed repair. Now the CD player does not work. Another time it was the bearings in the front tire. Today the car has 24,000 miles and is up for sale. Good luck if you purchase one!

Smooth ride, great brakes, comes Sirus satellite radio ready, electric top

I have had my 2003 Chrysler Sebring Convertible for nearly 3 months. I love it! After looking at all the convertibles on the market, this was the best choice for me. I was very disappointed that Volkswagon stopped making the Cabriolet and replaced it with the Beetle convertible. This car is very roomy, and the ride is smooth.

Looks great and is smooth driving...except when braking. Picks up quickly and gets me where I want to go in style.

Weakness:

Brakes and Rotors!!!!

I love my Sebring, but continue to have problem with brakes and rotors. My mechanic told me that he doesn't understand why Chrysler put the type of brakes on this weight of car. I'm thinking of getting a 4 dr in a year or two, but don't know that I will if they all have this sort of problem with brakes. As I read in these reviews, that is a big problem with most owners. I don't what I'd do with my license plate "AJSEBRG".

Strength:

Good looking car. Spacious.

Weakness:

Every freaking thing else.

Oh god. Where to start? I love my Sebring, but I am an idiot for it. This car is nothing but a money sucking item that continuously kills me financially. Where to start? The car has 130,000 kms on it. Had 65,000 kms when I bought it almost 4 years ago. Since that time, I have had to replace: 1) the transmission TWICE. First time cost $4,200 CAD, second time was the clutch plates - at $3,000 CAD. 2) Water pump/timing belt. Once @ $2,000 3) Oxygen sensor @ a few hundred dollars. 4) The drivers side power seat motor went last year---cost $2,700. Ridiculous! Didn't get that one. Now the stupid thing works, but only back and forward, not up down/tilt. 5) The whole moulding piece on the drivers side door flew off on the 401 highway about a month ago. Took a week to retrieve it. Chrysler won't do anything about it. Cost - Approx $200 to have it PUT BACK ON. (not replaced!). 6) Now, we just found out that the brake lights dont work. Fuses fine. Bulbs fine. Brake switch fine. You figure it out. 7) Brakes continuously go on this car. I have no clue why. I replace them @ $300 and 2 days later, they are pulsing again. Its absolutely ridiculous. NOT ONCE have I had smooth brakes in this car. The worst part of all of it though is the service received through CHRYSLER on this car. ITS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE service. They put out a car with multiple malfunctions and do nothing about it.

Strength:

Loved the look of the car, hence why I purchased it. That would be its only strength.

Weakness:

Any part that helps makes the car move.

Who should buy this car? NOBODY!! Let me just list a FEW of the numerous problems I have had in the short 2 years I've owned this vehicle: transmission replacement, torque coverter, tie rods, ball bearings, and now the distributor. Oh yeah....brakes are bad AGAIN and the struts are leaking. Do you know how much all this costs???? And to top it off, some are dealer parts ONLY, of course. Oh, if I could only get out of it what I owe...if you have any sense in your head, NEVER buy this car!!!!!!! Did I mention the aluminum wheels bend at any slight bump in the road (including the smallest pot holes)? New ones will set you back about $750 a wheel, or $250 to have them refurbished. Have had to replace those several times too...tires won't hold air with bent wheels. If you buy this car you will be broke and sorry. And if you call Chrysler for help, they will laugh in your face! I will never buy this, or any other Chrysler again in my life.
