Strength:

The car seems like a really strong platform mechanically. The motor is extremely smooth, quiet, and peppy. The transmission is smooth. From what I have read, and experienced; they don't fail as often as other FWD automatics. The interior is extremely well planned and comfortable. The passenger and cargo space is abundant...room for the little guy :) And, the car does not seem big to drive...it handles very well.

Weakness:

Like most Chrysler products, it could use some refinement with regard to the body integrity. A comparable GM like the Bonneville or the Park Avenue has much better results with body moldings, interior rattles, and road noise. However, this shows up in the cost both initially and resale. I like the thing mechanically. I was fearful of the brakes, but they are adequate. The engine and transmission are very solid, and I was impressed after going through it. I DO NOT like the fan belt/pulley system. Instead of a tensioneer, it has a manually adjusted system which is a PAIN. This system is also prone to squeaking when it's cold (every morning).

I am a GM man, I service my own vehicles, and I race my Vette and Trans Am at Bandimere and some SCCA events. I was shocked when I found myself buying a Chrysler at the request of my fiancee. However, I am rather impressed with this thing. It definitely has a lot of amenities throughout the interior, the powertrain, and the suspension is excellent. There are some things that Chrysler can improve on. As always, they don't put the work into the body integrity as they should. This reveals itself in interior rattles, road noise, and molding problems. However, we bought a heck of a car for the money. I do feel bad for those that purchased it new. It seems that this would be a great car to buy used or on a lease basis only. I am interested to see how it holds up. If it does well, we may get a 300M for our other daily driver.

Good looking car

Weakness:

See above...I think I made my point.

I bought the Concorde new in September, 1996. It only has 43,000 miles on it yet I've had the following problems: A/C problems in year one, power steering pump at 24,000 miles, oxygen sensor at 35,000 miles, water pump at 35,000 miles, tie rod bushings at 36,000 miles, and rack and pinion bushings at 41,000 miles. The battery died in year one. In addition I've had problems with the door locks and the window sealant melted all over the paint. I've never owned a Japanese car but my next one will be Japanese. I will never, ever own a Chrysler.

great looks, fast and smooth 218hp engine (sounds good), roomy, comfortable, has many options

Weakness:

never ending serious mechanical problems

I bought this car in 1998. It was only 2 years old and I was wondering why it had 3 owners before us! Well, now I know. Just when you think you got everything fixed and running, some part you haven't heard of before breaks! If I haven't loved this car so much, I could not have possibly put up with it for 6 years. It only has 75000 miles. As much as it is fun to drive, it gives you hell every 2-3 months. We went on long vacations for 6 times with this car and we drove back only once without any problems. Once we had to open windows and melt on the leather seats because the A/C burned (literally). Once we had to drive back slowly because the transmission broke and was stuck on the 2nd gear. Once we had to get it towed because the engine overheated and burned, the cooler was broken and the mechanic couldn't realize it previously. And of course, after the theft recovery, although the insurance payed for all, they could never get the transmission to shift smoothly! I don't know if I should blame the mechanic or the car... Unfortunately I still love this car, but I have no choice but to get rid of it.

Strength:

Large interior, large trunk, gas mileage.

Weakness:

Premium audio system is not so premium. Leather seats are paper thin and wear out. The Infinity system is sub par, I have "real" Infinity speakers and they certainly dont sound this poor. Ahh yes the paint as I read in another review here. I recommend mud flaps. Noisy rattle in the front somewhere and yes I can hear the fan belt or something as well. Chrysler should look up the word "QUALITY" and really decide to invest more in the definition.

Smooth ride, great on gas about 23 miles to a gallon overall. I have the Lxi 3.2, all options but a moonroof and engine block heater.

Strength:

Roomy, gas economy, trunk space.

Weakness:

Terrible 9 speaker Infinity system, poor quality leather seats, paint on plastic trim wears off after one year, got it re painted at dealer still wears out behind wheels. Dont pump gas while engine is running, the computer will go nuts and it will spit out smoke the next day. Noisy fan belt on all, annoying. Try changing the headlights, nope, you have to remove the entire front section of the car. Book value is very weak. Power windows are getting weaker.

Overall a solid livable vehicle. No major problems. I bought the car new ith only 4 miles on it. The dealer prepped it and included several scratches and a dent, thanks. I currently have about 58,000 miles. I am disappointed with the stereo, seats(leather), and paint. It is a LXI with the 3.2 Liter.

Strength:

Space. Loads of leg room. The trunk is large enough to fit 4 sets of golf clubs (in bags) and still have room for other junk. Eninge is strong, gives an impressive growl when you stomp on it. Styling is a work of art.

Weakness:

Plastic snap-on hood molding. The plastic clip holder can become brittle over time. Mine actually blew off while driving down the interstate (ouch) Low visibility out of the rear window. But it's a given with the design. It's really hard to see things (ie. Kids toys, bikes etc.) laying in the rear path. Trunk loading can be a pain at times. There is a high lift to load the trunk. Since the trunk is simply huge, I have to keep a hook in the trunk to fish out those items that slide forward.

This is a great car. Acceleration is strong, jumping out into interstate traffic with full confidence. Brakeing is equally impressive. I bought the LXi model with ABS/rear disc brakes. I've braked hard on dirt roads and was able to retain control and the car stopped on a dime. I was surprised at how well the car handles. The suspension is stiff but still absorbs most of the bumps. It's fun to drive winding roads, the car doesn't seem to pitch at all in most cases. Wind noise is surprisingly low given the massive windsheild. Road noise is minimal. You can actually hold a conversation with the rear passangers without having to shout. Overall this is a very very roomy and confortable drive.

Just got the 97 Concorde lxi for my wife. Gorgeous silver with grey leather interior. Every option with the 3.5l 24 valve HEMI motor. Yes folks, this beast of a luxury sport sedan is sporting an authentic Mopar six cylinder hemi motor! The performance is incredible with 214 HP and gobs of torque. Sure there will be problems - this motor must tear through transmissions and front end parts if really driven - but performance comes at a price. Great values out there too - $5200 for a super clean 97!

Strength:

The interior and exterior luxury of the vehicle. The woodgrain accents and leather seats in the LXI are comparable to more expensive vehicles. The Concorde adapted very well to after-market wheels, which could have been problematic.

Weakness:

Too few to name.

I absolutely LOVE my Concorde! For a large car, it is unbelievably easy to handle. The interior and trunk space are commendable as well as the overall style of the vehicle. I would definately recommend the Concorde LXI to anyone who is looking for luxury without sacrificing performance.

Great acceleration. Great on long drives...very comfortable & roomy. Loaded with convenience features. Not bad gas mileage given the size.

Weakness:

mechanical, mechanical, mechanical...I plan to be rid of it before that becomes electrical!

Very roomy, very comfortable and sharp looking. But the important features (mechanics) are not that great. A beautiful, comfy but costly (in repairs) car. To date, two water pumps replaced, radiator replaced, overheated once, no cabin heat once, shutters all over when braking, oil leaks (gasket), rear window sealent melts in the sun and leaks onto car, steering box needed replacement in 1998(creaks in the cold and gradually losing automatic power)...still haven't done that though...terrible resell value...same dealership won't give hardly a dime...Will not buy another concorde.
