Strength:

Gas mileage. I spend almost nothing on gas. It is a zippy little car- nice and small. AC is really cold.

Weakness:

When the car hit 70,000 miles it started falling apart: Rust galore on the doors, new starter, 2 CV joints, exhaust work (the exhaust has been loud since my grandma bought it in 1991), rotors, brakes, 4 tires and now... the transmission is done for. I've spent over $2500 in repairs in the past 4 months. There's no trunk light. The windows fog a lot. The windows don't go up and down very well (2 don't go back up at ALL)

I loved this car when my grandmother gave it to me, but I loathe the poor thing now. I'm a college student and it was perfect for me. I really did like this car a lot until it took all of my money. I'm an even Poor-er college student now. :(

Strength:

small, good first car.

Weakness:

can be expensive to fix having some Toyota parts, annoying auto seatbelt that doesn't move.

When I got it I loved it and I still do, but the dealer hid some problems on me. However I've owned it for two years now, I bought it w/ only 63000 miles on it and it still runs quiet, runs like new, but looks it's age. I'd buy another one again, in fact I'm looking into a brand new one.

Strength:

Build quality, economical, handles better than Corolla,

Weakness:

none that I have found

I purchased this car used, it looked that the owner took care of it. It has 48,000 miles and drives great. This car makes more sense to buy used than new. When I priced both a Corolla and the Prizm new, the Corolla was actually a bit cheaper, however the problem comes in the resale value. Being a Chevy, it sells for less used than a similar Corolla. Example, I priced the same year Corolla and even though it had the smaller engine, the 3 speed auto, and even more miles it sold for more money, quite a bit more. The reason "It's a Toyota". Same car over $1,000 difference.

Strength:

Best Reliablity!!Body, engine, drive train, easy to maintain. cheap price, still looking good after ten years, Love it much more than I can describe.

Weakness:

Interior plastic parts broken easily, slow acceleration, Harder suspension the first couple years(but that make this car more "Sporty" than similar others, I didn't like it at first but not totally Love it!)

Reliable Toyota engine and tough American body, never have to worry about fixing or die on the road. The only time I need to tow my car in nearly ten years is the battery problem. Drive is awesome especially on free way (compare to same size compact car), heavier than Corrola but the handeling is actually better at high speed. Gas millage is as good as Toyota.

Strength:

Solid, reliable, nice looks, excellent fuel economy, very nimble.

Weakness:

Rear seat a bit cramped.

This car is esentially a Toyota Corolla with a Chevy badge on it. It's a great little car, don't let others tell you otherwise. So far I've had no problems after 6 months of ownership and to be honest I don't anticipate any.

Strength:

Can't even think of a one. Oh, I did. I like knowing the temperature outside when I'm in the car. That's it.

Weakness:

Acceleration is terrible, very cramped, gas mileage - don't get me started.

Basically, the car sucks. Had a 98 malibu before, but that was actually worse. The Prism is small, extremely slow and the gas mileage sucks. My husband drives 70 miles a day to work and back and has to fill up three times a week. We're lucky if he even gets 300 miles to a tank. Got a smaller car for the better gas mileage? It's like driving a 6 cyl. Plus, a few weeks ago the check engine light came on and nothings been found wrong when it's hooked up to the machine that's supposed to find the problem. This is the last time we EVER buy a GM car.

Strength:

Great gas mileage, usually 33 mpg in town & 38 mpg hwy.(using overdrive). Starts just fine in sub-zero weather and has tons of power. Accelerates quickly.

Weakness:

Most features on LS are electronic, except seat adjustment. Also, the angle on accelerator is a bit uncomfortable; should be slanted more. Ignition keys dangled low and touch top of right leg.

Mine is 1999 Prism LS with 1.8 liter engine with overdrive.

Strength:

Engine power, sound system, fuel economy, reputation for reliability, MADE IN AMERICA!!!

Weakness:

Interior is boring

I love it...no problems yet. The sound system is great and the 125 hp engine is decent...well its stronger than a lot of other 4 cyl cars out there. It doesn't have a very exciting look to it but that can be a good thing in some respects.

Strength:

Good gas mileage, reliable engine, easy to maintain, and is very affordable.

Weakness:

Unexciting design, lack of power, lack of space, cheap plastic hardware, no airbags (on this model year), no ABS brakes, repeated muffler problems.

My mother''s 1992 Geo Prizm was my first car and I have to say, despite it''s downfalls it is still going strong after 100,000 miles and is showing no signs of slowing down. The car only has a 3 speed automatic transmission and speed is what this car does NOT have! With the pedal to the floor, it usually takes more than 10 seconds to get to 60. The car is small and underpowered and I kid you not when I say that almost all of the hardware has been broken or replaced at least once. The gas and temperature gauges do not work, the sound system is completely blown, the muffler has been replaced 5 or 6 times, and don''t even think of fitting more than 4 people in it. I tried fitting 4 other people besides myself in it once and I swear I could have ran faster than the car accelerated. Don''t take my comments the wrong way, I love this car since it was my first and I had some great times with it. If everything else falls apart on it, the Toyota built engine will probably last forever. If you are on a budget and need a small car that provides good transportation then consider the Prizm/Toyota Corolla.
