Strength:
The styling is great, handling is good, rides great, comfortable for long trips, still looks new
Weakness:
it drinks gas in the city and there is a rattling behind the sunroof My car has 95,000 miles on it and I bought it used with 40,000. It has never left me stranded and most of the problems were minor. A spot of ceiling fabric had to be reglued. The engine has never needed repair. The shifting is a smidge rough between 1st and 2nd gear, though it has always been like that and I don't even notice it anymore. A few months ago, both of the front wheel bearings started vibrating and the assemblages had to be replaced at $178 apiece. |

Monte Carlo LS
Strength:
Very comfortable ride even for long trips. Outstanding fuel economy for a large car. I typically get 23-25 mpg in my normal driving and I get around 36 mpg for highway driving. The basic AM/FM/CD has very good sound. The ability to use the OnStar system as a "hands-free" cell phone is a plus. Decent (but not breakneck) acceleration. Great looking car (especially in black).
Weakness:
My Monte is generally good, but the recent intermittent electrical system problems are a little frightening. I bought this car new in March, 2001. I have been generally pleased with it, but it has had it's share of problems. I had to have a transmission leak fixed after about 100 miles. At about 17000 miles the "check engine" light came on for no apparent reason. Took it into the dealer and had to have the computer reset. This past winter, I started having intermittent problems with the ventilation system. It wouldn't work sometimes right after the engine had been started, but it would eventually kick in after a few seconds. Dealership was unable to help me with this as it was an intermittent problem. The latest problem I had is with the cruise control. It only worked intermittently on a recent vacation that I took. This gives me two intermittent problems with electrical systems. Also, brakes are pulsing after only 22000 miles. Similar Products Used: I had a 1984 Monte which was the first car that I ever bought. I loved the looks and style of that car, much as I love the looks and style of my current Monte. |

lots of space, smaller enigne than my truck, but it has a quick pick me up when i push down on the gas pedal. very spacuos, in the interetor and the truck. hey, and i also smoked a mustang at the line. it became a mudstain in my rearview mirror.
Weakness:
transmission needs one more speed. needs a better sound system, it gets blurry and fuzzy when the sound gets high. This is my second vehicle. My first one was a really old truck. Saves gas majorly compared to my truck. My dad helped me find the car. Even though it books at 6200 i got it for 4500. it is big, in the inside and the trunk space is incritible. i kepp everything in my trunk. and so far i have kept it clean, will the dealership floor mates. all in all, i'm glad i got this car. no problems, and very gas effective. Monte Carlo SS
Strength:
The car handles great in any weather, with the standard traction control on the SS model snow, ice, rain, etc.. does not take away from it's performance. The interior is user friendly and there is a lot of leg room in the front seats. I have been getting around 23 mph in city, that is rated for highway.
Weakness:
It's hard to says it's weakness but would be nice as a 5 speed with the 3.8L. This car has everything that the epa restrictions can allow. Would be nice to have a V8 RWD but the design is not there. The car has sexy body lines and stylish interior. The 200 hp 3.8L is a little weaker than I am us to but suites the car well. I'm having to reach here but here goes. seat belt to high, needs more power, another cup holder I love my Monte !!! The combination of sleek sexy styling, great power (ok a v8 or the supercharged 3.8 v6 coming out next year will be great) safety, ride, leather interior, makes it a winner its my second monte and they just keep getting better and better. my first monte (1995 Z34 got totalled when I was broadsided in the drivers door at 60 mph I didn't get so much as a scratch, I went for another model but now I am back to Monte Carlo Similar Products Used: 1995 Monte carlo Z34, 5 years of NASCAR and the 2000 SS is a whole new car and a great one |

Strength:
Style, Comfort, 4 wheel traction control, Braking system.
Weakness:
We are hoping that Chevy will give the option for an 8 cylinder model!! Although the 6 cylinder doesn't lack any power or performance, when you put it to the floor you can tell it's a 6. The windshield wipers backlash across the passenger side in light to medium rain showers. With the help of a house refi and a dealer that went to the bottom line we purchased a 2003 Monte, High Sport SS, Black, fully loaded. We haven't regretted it for a second. The car is AWESOME!! Besides the fact the it turns heads and people ask what kind of car is that, it is an outstanding performer! The car is fun to drive and look at! The all wheel traction reduces the need to slow down to turn corners. It steers on a dime. The interior is very roomy and very comfortable. The heated and electic seats are outstanding. This car wants to be driven! I hate to get out of it, you just want to keep driving. The Onstar, XM radio, Homelink are an added bonus. I am looking forward to 2005 when I can trade in mine for a new Monte, I hope with an 8 cylinder!!! Similar Products Used: Doesn't really matter!!! Die-hard Monte Fan since the 70's |

NOW FOR STENGHTHS,THE EXCELERATION ON THIS BABY IS AWESOME!! BRAKING IS ALSO EXCELLENT. GAS MILEAGE IS OKAY BUT NOT THE GREATEST AND IT HANDLES THE ROAD BEAUTIFULLY IN BAD ROAD CONDITIONS AS WELL. THE FEATURES THIS CAR HAS IN THE INTERIOR ARE ALSO VERY CONVIENT AND WELL THOUGHT OUT BY THE DESIGNERS.
Weakness:
I HAVE HAD VERY FEW PROBLEMS SO FAR SUCH AS A VERY ANNOYING BRAKE SQEAK AND A PROBLEM WITH A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE STERRING COLUMN THAT TOOK 4 TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALWAYS SEEMS TO COME ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF THE MONTE CARLO BECAUSE OF ITS SLEEK STYLE AND BOLD EXTERIOR SO WHEN I GOT THE CHANCE TO PURCHASE ONE, I JUMPED ON IT. ITS A BEAUTIFUL CAR WITH TONS OF FEATURES AND STYLE. When it's clean, this car looks great. When everything is working it will blow the doors off of just about anything. With all of it's problems, it has never left me stranded. It is a solid car. I hit a deer going 60mph and all it did was dent the hood and bumper, no major damage. Nice trunk that stores a lot even though you basically have to climb in to get whats in the back
Weakness:
There is always something wrong! If I can go two weeks without the service engine light on I'm doing good. Between 95,000 and 104,000 I have put $2000 in repairs and average $1000 every 12000 miles. This was my first car, bought it all on my own. I was a stupid girl who went for a shiny car with a big engine. I bought it at 28,000. A week after I bought it it needed a new catlytic converter and brake pads all the way around. By the end of the factory warranty it had a new O2 sensor, secondary air pump and spark plug wires all the way around. It now has 104,000 miles and it has no power and the gas mileage has dropped off 6 mpg. No one can figure out the problem. I've put 3 sets of rotors in the back, 2 in the front, new brake pads every 10,000 miles. Two more sets of spark plug wires, $400 for a mysterious problem with the brake lights. The steering wheel stereo controls shorted out and change the radio station every time I go over a bump or turn. The paint is peeling off the spoiler, the guides on the moonroof shade break constantly. The service engine light is always on. The secondary air pump was apparently designed to suck up water and short itself out. |

Exterior has very sporty styling, interior is very roomy and all the toys are within hands reach. The ride is smooth, handles very well in the snow. The heated seats heat up in 45 sec. making winter almost bearable. I love having the Onstar phone and the Homelink, definately worth it.
Weakness:
It's begging for a V8 or a supercharged engine but overall plenty of horses! Also - has no lighted glove box, very inconvenient. This car is awesome! It's pure luxury in a modern day muscle car. I ordered the car fully loaded after agonizing over giving up my Firebird. It is a headturner - you look at and then do a doubletake saying what kind of car is it? It won me over almost instantly. Don't expect a plush interior but a class act in all leather. Muscle cars of yesteryear were never meant to be plush either. If you pull up to a garage wall with headlights on you can actually see the bowtie emblem outlined. The hardest part is shutting it off and getting out of it!
