I love the rear sway bar. The aluminum rims are great, I like the rear spoiler.
Weakness:
The engine(5.0 H.O.) could have been a bit stronger, 185 horse power is just not enough, that is why I am putting a 327 in mine. The greatest car ever. It is the last "real" American made car. I like that it came stock with a 4 barrel carburator, a V-8 engine, dual exhaust, even though it is fake, it gets the job done. I also really like rear wheel drive cars,It is pretty much the only car that from the factory you don't have to do any modifacations. For me it has alot of weaknesses it's cost me alot of money since I bought it. We had to replace water pump, now we to replace some burnt valves. I love the way it looks it has alot of room on the inside and a roomy trunk. Similar Products Used: We had a 97 Camaro it had alot less miles on it so its not really fair to compare. |

Horrible Gas mileage, horrible blind spot, Chronic mechanical problems, God Bless extended warrantees... I bought this car from a reputable used car dealer in my neighborhood. Bought the car with 35k miles. After about 20 mos of ownership I have replaced the following -New Head gaskets, New front rotors, New alternator, New rear drum because the self adjusting spring keeps breaking happened 3 times and the last time the self adjuster itself became dislodged and totaly wrecked the entire brake assembly including grinding the drum beyond repair, new front and rear brakes, new tires, Mechanic cannot keep the cigerette lighter from blowing its fuse. The cruise control lamp does not illuminate while in use, Two radio station buttons do not light up any more. The car now has 64k miles on it. looks are great, great acceleration, interior is very relaxing, handles great and in bad weather conditions
Weakness:
bad blind spot behind drivers spot, rear windows don't open I bought this car in May of 2000. This is the newest car I have purchased. I only paid $10,000 and the book value was $12,500. I got a steal! I bought the car with a non-factory spoiler and it looks absolutely fabulous on it. I would definately recommend with this spoiler on it. It makes the car more sporty looking. The power of the 3.1 is more than adequate. This car goes through Minnesota winters and starts every day with confidence. The interior is so comfortable it wraps around you. I really enjoy taking long trips. With the adjusting of the drivers seat, you can get in ANY position you need it!!!! I would recommend this car to anybody. I like the interior (well, front seats at least), as well as the way car handles. Very comfortable, especially on long trips.
Weakness:
the biggest one is a view across the shoulder, you can't see a thing because of the body design. Can make changing lines very dangerous. I think this is my last GM vehicle. My previous car was ' 94 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and that car start having every mechanical problem you can think about after $80K (rebuilding engine, transmission, every possible electrical switch and wire). I was thinking this will be fixed in a newer Monte Carlo.. Wrong! I got my brand new with only 18 miles on it. After about 1500 miles my driver mirror just felt off and dealer had to replace the whole thing. After 5000 the paint on the bumper started coming off. Dealer replaced the whole bumper, and we're talking about car only couple months old here. On the 9000 mark wind started coming from drivers side on high speed and dealer fixed it as well. Do you think car should be okay now? That's what I was mistakenly thinking.. Now at exactly 14,365 the wheel controller arm and suspension on the left side is not functioning. That's it! As soon as O'Rielly Chevy fixes it, I'm letting someone else to play with it. The purpose of getting a new car is to have it driveable without any mechanical or cosmetical problems. Monte Carlo is definetely not one of them... Similar Products Used: Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass Supreme |

Great looks, Awesome motor. The 3.4 has tons of power. It gives my '79 Vette a real run for its money, Incredibly good reliability. I have over 210,000 km on it and spend very little on repairs. Interior is leather, looks good, very comfortable
Weakness:
BRAKES I burn through rotors at an alarming rate (Probably due to the infectious nature of the terrific motor) Had to replace the altinator at 100,000 miles. (not bad) Other than that it's been a fantastic car I love this car. It has good looks, handles pretty good for a big car. The engine performance is awesome. I have 1979 Corvette and I hardly drive the Vette because the Mighty Monte has more HP, more torgue and better creature comforts. I routinely have it over 160KM and it feeels very comfortable at that speed. Similar Products Used: 1988 buick regal - regal had no power, but was a great car. I drove the car very hard and spent virtually nothing on it. The fuel pump stared to go at 200,000 miles, but by then it had worked pretty hard hadn't it. |

A few blind spots I picked this car up at the auction based on its looks and brilliant black shine. When i got into the car i was amazed to see how roomy it was and how much power it had when i tapped on the gas. The 3.4 V6 does a commendable job on city streets taking off from stop lights and passing strongly at highway speeds. The car has a very relaxing feel when driving long distances and has a sporty feel when passing souped up HonDUHs!(as i did an hour ago)This car is well worth the money but watch out for costly repairs as i have heard from other posts on this board. I bought a warranty for $1,300 for 3/36,000 so that should take some worries off anyones mind. Sure i could have spent a little more and gotten a Civic or Altima or some other import but no matter what car you drive you will always run into mechanical problems so that ruled out the reliability aspect and brought in the FUN! aspect. Similar Products Used: I used to own an Eagle Talon Tsi so its hard to compare. The Talon did handle better but being that it was automatic it didn't have the same off the line V6 power that the Monte has. |

Hoo, boy. Here we go. The thing I loved about my Monte when I first took a look at it was the color. Red and black happen to be my two favorite colors, and the car has a bright red exterior, with dark tinted windows, and a Slate Grey (I just call it black) leather interior. The styling on this car is not bad, either. It's sporty enough, but it keeps a low profile, not like a Trans-Am or a Camaro. For factory wheels, the five-spoke mags look awesome. The interior is nice, with touches of class like the wood-grain on the doors and glove compartment and of course leather. The seats are nice and comfortable, the controls are a breeze to get used to, and the aftermarket Kenwood CD system that the original owner put in sounds great, even with the stock speakers. The AC is nice and cold, and the heater is nice and warm. The trunk is HUGE, and the rear seats fold down, making it even bigger! Now for the good stuff: this car is a BLAST to drive! That hot little DOHC 24 valve 3.4 liter V-6 could give some V-8s a serious run for their money! You stomp on it, it GOES! And the sound that it makes when it goes is SWEET! As for the handling, I think it's great for a sporty car like this. You'll look forward to twisty roads in this car. The ride is smooth, and there's not much noise from outside when you're cruising. Mine just turned over 86000 miles, and it still feels solid, with no squeaks, creaks, or rattles.
Weakness:
Only a couple bad things to speak of here. For one thing, I could really use another cupholder. One's all right, if it's just you in the car, but For my second car, I think my Monte is a lot of bang for the buck. It's sporty, stylish, and even a little luxurious. I call it a sleeper hot-rod, 'cuz that's what it is. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes some muscle in their cars. Of course, it's not a Chrysler PT Cruiser with a stick shift, but until I can afford one of those, I'll take my Monte anyday. Similar Products Used: '73 Plymouth Duster. This was my first car, so I've gotta give it credit for that. But it simply does not hold a candle to the Monte Carlo. Sure, it's got a bigger engine (a 318 CID V-8), but it's not as new, it drinks gas, it's not as nice inside, and it doesn't even have air conditioning. No comparison. |

For a hi-tech loaded car like this, the stereo system is poor, the speakers are underpowered. Something has to be done in this area !!
