It's a smooth ride with a great sound system. (Love the sunroof)
Weakness:
The leather seats get cold in the winter (no seat warmers) This is my very first car and I love it. It's fully loaded and I got a great deal and haven't had any problems with the anti-theft, gaskets or anything else for that matter. I would recommend it to any new car buyer. |

small gas tank, but still significant I have this car 2 years and I like it. No major problems, just like door hand replaced, fuse contact, moisture in headlight - all replaced or fixed by dealer (warranty) at the time of oil change. Good performance and comfort (for money paid), nice look. Now 32K km Similar Products Used: Corsica 1990 |

endless expensive repair bills!!! I really wish that I would of read these reviews before I bought my malibu. It would of saved me a lot of money! But hopefully I can save someone else some money. Like most of the other reviews I've read here, the best advise I can give anyone about the Chevy Malibu is....Run away as fast as you can!! Unless you have a lot of money for repairs. This car is nothing but trouble. I've only had my car a few months and have put tons of money into it. First problem was the anti-theft. It comes on and you have to sit stranded somewhere until it decides it will let you start your car again. $400 later problem fixed for now. the dealership said a very common problem. And just last week I had to put a new motor in it cause the heads went and block could of been cracked. $2000 for that. And again garage said very common for a malibu. The garage I took it to have had several Malibu's with same problem. And described other problems common for the Malibu. Now the brakes are making noises and will need to be checked. Very afraid to see what this will cost me! STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR! Have always liked chevy's, but am considering looking at some ford's for my next purchase. All I wanted was to have a decent newer car and all I got was a car that is draining my pockets of every last dime that I've got!! Good Acceleration, Gas Mileage, Spacious, Reliable Since January we have replaced the battery, the alternator, and a new set of tires. There are only two things so far that are of concern 1 there is no transmission stick to see if you need to add fluid (the manual says take to dealership-that is the last thing I would do) Repair books are a lot cheaper than a mechanic and 2 when it rains I end up with a puddle of water on the passenger side floor we think this could be due to bad rubber on door, but we have not investigated to much into it. The only thing is see with the other reviews is that the brakes go quite often, but if the pads are cheap they will go fast. It goes with the saying "you get what you pay for" and different ideas of what "regular driving" means. Needing constant repairs. I strongly caution against purchasing the Malibu. I have had nothing but problems, problems that GM said were normal wear and tear. Are you ready? Several electrical shorts- tail lights, dash board, and inside lights; wheel/speed sensor, replacing the brakes 2 and 3 times a year (normal-I don't think so), seal on the headlights were cracked, my engine light is always on -possibly the injectors because my car also sucks down gas, replaced alternator and starter when it was only 3.5 years old. There's more but what I've done every time I see a Malibu is ask the owners what problems they've had and they are always the same. Shame on GM. Expensive repairs Luckily, I bought the extended warranty when I purchased this used car. The power steering pump has been replaced twice, alternator replaced twice, new battery, struts replaced, brakes have to be replaced about every 3 months, replaced motor mount, serpentine belt, belt tensioner, pulley, power window stopped working. Now that the extended warranty has expired, it is leaking coolant, and the belt still squeals even though I have replaced. I'm afraid as to what will happen next. Glad I have roadside assistance coverage with my insurance, and a cell phone. |

Nothing that I like about this car!
Weakness:
Anti theft System Breaks I bought the car used because I have three small children and needed not only something roomy but reliable. Much to my dismay the car has been nothing but a hassel stranding me and my children on the side of the road too many times to name. I literally have the towing co. on speed dial. I have to go out and start my at least 30min to an hour early just to make time for the pain in the as! theft light. The only other things that I have problems with are the breaks, and I had to replace the alternator, and occasionally the abs light comes on. I really think that they need to do some serious recalling on these cars and own up to the fact that the car is responsible for alot of peoples bad days, lost pay, and grand repair bills. I hope that this keeps anyone from ever buying another one. Good Luck Similar Products Used: Ford Escorts Dodge Neon Saturns |

When I"m not dumping money into it, i love it. Love the size, style, and drivability.
Weakness:
It's a money pit and a headache. I bought my '99 Malibu used in the summer of 2000. Ran fine until the summer of '03 from June 03-September 03 I've had the pads, front rotors, alternator, ignition cylinder, and intake gaskets replaced. A 4 year old car just hitting 40,000 miles should not need that much work to simply keep it running. |
