Strength:

Comfortable ride, good acceleration, great gas milage (30+ on road trips), roomy.

Weakness:

Weak alternators (two replacements since 1998 and 50K miles. Some cheap plastic interior parts have broken (cup holders, ash tray). Carpet on the doors came loose and began to buckle. Support bars on the trunk lid really limit cargo area.

I bought the car when it was two years old with low miles. It has been a great ride and pretty reliable, except for alternators which I''ve had to replace twice.

Strength:

Good Power, Unbelievable Durablility, Suspension is shot but still rides smooth,Would be even better if it was stick.

Weakness:

Cooling problems Radiator has a leak, Some coupler thingy rusted out and broke causing the engine to overheat. Looks like a grandpa car, Front suspension is loose and feels sloppy.

My parents bought this car brand new in 1991. I got it 2 years ago to drive me from home to school that is 30 miles away. I also have a Mustang thst is always broken and this is my faithful car that has given me very few problems. I beat the crap out of this thing constantly and it still comes back begging for more. It is a tank and cannot be stopped. Ive have rally raced it, ran it into curbs(on accident), drove through a creek bed, and went 4 wheeling with it many times. It has had a few problems but they are understandable considering the torture I have put it through.

3.4 DOHC engine - lots of pep (215hp). At 170km/h its still purring along at 4000RPM and doesn''t redline until 7000RPM. Roomy interior, decent trunk size Great look Decent mileage, I get 25mpg, even though I usually drive it a little fast.

Weakness:

Repairs, repairs, repairs. But even with the problems, the car won''t quit, still going strong. No cup holders. Sounds small, but it''s the worst thing about the interior

Awesome Car! The first time I saw this car I knew I wanted it. From its unique look to it''s incredible engine this is a fast peppy car that still has a practical side. Lots of trunk room, roomy interior and seats, even for me at 6''4" (though my head scrapes the roof). Mine is white and I have tinted the windows and have black headlight and taillight covers for an incredible look. It just looks fast. It''s 10 years old and there is no rust, the body is immaculate and even the bottom side isn''t rusted out. (as mechanics keep telling, keep reading) I can let this car sit outside for two weeks in a Canadian Winter and she starts without problem, even with it''s customary roar. The major problem with the car is the costly repairs. It''s at 150000km and the thrust bearings on the crankshaft have worn out causing major damage - $2000Cdn in parts and labour and counting. But I love the car too much to give it up!

Strength:

Strong 3.1L engine, good gas mileage, reliable starts and performance. Comfortable and roomy for four.

Weakness:

The intake gaskets will fail if not installed properly. GM did not back there product or workmanship in my case and that says a lot for a company that was once the most respected in the world. Now they are number three, I wonder why...

I purchased this vehicle new with only 14 miles on it. It has been a great car from all aspects except one. In the seven years I have owned this car I have had to replace the intake gaskets twice within 14 months. The first repair was covered under the extended warranty I purchased with the car (saved me $660.00). 14 months later, exactly two months to the day out of warranty, the same problem ocurred. I had the car repaired at my expense and was advised by the dealer to open a case with GM customer service since the failure happened so close to the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty expiration. During the investigation I was informed that GM was aware of the gasket problem and was taking action to resolve it. After three weeks of working with the customer service rep GM decided they could do nothing more than offer me $1,000 in funny money toward the purchase of a new GM car within a 12 month period -"No thanks!" I said. The rep seemed suprised I was not happy to receive such an offer. I kindly rejected her offer and told her I will not be buying a GM for my next car.

Weakness:

I''ve been told that the alternater usually goes out but haven''t had any problems as of yet.

Great comfortable car at an excellent price. I am used to smaller Japanese cars so the Lumina is like a Cadi! Gas millage is fair, 22-25 mpg at an average of 65 mph. Being in Puerto Rico there is a lot of stop and go traffic. Very comfortable ride, smooth, great pick up when passing other cars.

Strength:

Reliability is very strong and the power is actually a lot more than you would think. I drive my fathers Buick Roadmaster Wagon sometimes and that has the corvette LT1 engine with dual exhaust (E-mail me for more on that car). Its gas mileage is overwhelming for a 6 cylinder and the apace within the car is finominal. I can fill it up with all sorts of stuff and drive it home when I visit.

Weakness:

The only thing that I have ever complained about regarding this car is the turning radius. It is very small for my liking. I drive around with friends who own little 4 bangers that can turn on a dime and my roommate owns a 92 jeep Wrangler which has the best radius. I park all the time tin parking garages and usually hae to do an adjustment to get the gar into a spot. Other than that there is nothing I could even fathom complaning about. America still builds beter cars in my mind and Iwill always support our companies over any foreign one.

I bought this car in may of 2000 before heading off to college. I was the first owner of the car and actually bought it with 425 miles on it. The dealership owned this car for 2 years and used it in their "brass-hat" fleet. Whenever a big corporate person would fly in they would be taken around town in this car. The dealer put this car on the floor and an hour and a half later was sold. Excelent deal. The LS upgrade makes the car a little more sporty adding a spoiler to the back. Living in CA, I still hope to add some tinting to the windows. I have added some pinstriping a K&N Air filter (Which I recomend everyone use. After all they are manufactured in Riverside CA :) ) This has been an absolutely wonderful car and I am very happy with the gas mileage. I drive from San Jose to Riverside, 395 miles, on a single tank of gas doing an average speed of 75 or so.

Weakness:

I noticed that alot of people wrote about the break system (in general)...Alot of the Luminas were recalled (not sure what years) about the break system...so try to find out if yours was or not...other than that, finding parts (for cheap) is hard, especially if you wanna restore everything in it.

I love my Annabelle (car), to death. I have beatin the living dog sh!t out of it and it still runs, sure there has been a massive amount of money spent on the car, but that seems to be the same with most of the people that wrote about the car. I plan on restoring it to showroom condition inside and out somehow (if you have any ideas...help)!
