Strength:
Well, gee... The 3.8 engine is very good with the exception of a blown water pump seal it has been trouble free. It is or was "the most car for the money" at the time it was purchased.
Weakness:
Well, let''s see...Like I said the brakes are marginal at best and down right useless in cold wet/freezing highway conditions..leave lots of room in front to stop... very noisy interior, I now know why this car has a SCV (speed controlled volume) on the stereo. the sunroof whistles like Zamfeir on the panflute. Had to replace the front rotors at 30K and now looks like the same for the rears. As far as handling is concerned well lets just say its not a Bimmer. I can''t believe the number of people who love this car. It''s my daily driver and had I known ahead of time that the brakes are all but non-existant I would opted for another car. At best this car is "transportation" Similar Products Used: POS ''94 mustang conv.(wifey loves it?) ''91 911 |

Strength:
This car ran smooth and gave good gas mileage. I have kept it in perfect condition. I like this vehicle for the ride and its handling. This problem occurred only ofter dealer repaired the leak problem. If you have a similar problem, please contact me so Ican pass this on to the dealer.
Weakness:
Alternators is weak Purchased this car used with 28,000 miles and only has 33,000 todate. Had to replace struts, rear wheel bearings and developed a leak(coolant). Dealer replaced struts and repaired leak by putting new gasket on manifold. Since this time I have had trouble starting my car and dealer cannot find the problem. The leak has developed again. I paid approximately 800.00 for struts and gasket I have again return my car to the dealer and was told that they contacted Techinal Services and they could not trouble shoot this problem and I will wait for their answer to my problem. Good excelleration from the 200hp engine.
Weakness:
poor fit and finish, Hard to get in and out of. cheap plastic parts. Braking the worst I have ever experianced Brakes are terrible, I have had them changed 4 times or have had the rotors roughed up. Generally feels slipery or like metal against metal. I have only 62,000 miles on it. I also had the transmission repaired and new injectors installed under a factory campaign. I have a arm rest glove box with cheap plastic hinges that have been replaced (2) twice. I also had the alternator replaced due to excessive wineing noise Similar Products Used: Toyota camery, Honda accord |

Strength:
The engine is a strength with a 3.1L v6 and good power. The trunk is also nice with the cargo net that keeps groceries in place. It also starts easily on cold mornings.
Weakness:
Rust has been an issue. We have replaced a subframe along with most of the front end because of rust and the dealer replaced the origional gas tank. I have had my 1991 Chevy Lumina Eurosport for 2 and 1/2 years. I bought it with 103k on it. It now has 133k. The first year I had it things were good. Although, the night I took it home, I filled the gas tank up and found it had a leak. The tank had rusted through. The dealer I bought it from fixed it with no problems. Last year the front end started having problems with ball joints, tierods, struts, etc. later after fixing most of the parts a garage found that the subfame had rusted where the anti-sway bar connects to it. Replacing the subframe went without a hitch and only cost us $500 but total for a new front end(struts, ball joints, subframe etc) was over $3000. We also, had to within the past year replace the gas tank again due to, as the garage put it"an impact". The engine is great. It starts even on the coldest days and has a lot of power which is good for passing. The inside is has 6 seatbelts. This is nice occationally we have had to put a child in the middle in the front. beautiful stering/turning capabilities, awsome aerodynamic body, big on comfort, powerful 3.1 engine, acceleration is kickin''
Weakness:
they stopped making them in the mid 1990''s, the hell with cupholders(don''t need to be eating, drinking in the car anyway), step-father/mother didn''t check oil and i threw a rod in the engine, other than that, no weaknesses at all a beautiful ride. engine sounds great. after driving one for a year, riding in something else is unacceptable.(unless it''s a mustang, 3000gt, etc). steering is like a dream. i bought it used and with the exception of throwing a rod in the engine, minor repairs were needed. with my 3.1 engine, i can hang with my dad''s ''97 mustang!!!!!! Strength:
Great value, reliable, smooth, comfortable, and quiet. It also has a lot of safety features. Great 3.1 motor.
Weakness:
Has some cheap plastic parts, but nothing too bad. I bought this car four years ago when it had 19,000 miles on it. It has been a heck of a car. It''s very reliable, quiet running, and smooth. The power is good and the transmission works flawlessly. Ive been impressed with the gas mileage too. I can get close to 30/gallon even when I''m going 80mph plus. My car has the LS upgraded seats and I find they are comfortable enough. I now have 132,000 on the car. Ive replaced the brakes, the alternator, the battery, and the fuel pump. This is a great family car for the money. If you want a hot-rod I would find a different car. If you want a very good family car that will not cost you a lot of money, it''s tough to beat. Strength:
This Chevrolet dealership (BriarWood Chev-Olds) in Mississauga, Ontario are very friendly and very obliging. I am a very picky car driver and yet they addressed every single nit-picking issue I raised without complaint and I sense they are quite proud of their work and do take notice. The car is a gem to drive, quiet, and those big 16" meats soften driving over potholes, streetcar tracks and railroad tracks. I''''m already noticing how knick-knacks for Chevrolet''''s are considerably cheaper than what similar items are at Volkswagen dealerships. A roomy car, with oodles of acceleration - quite a sleeper really with that 3.1 litre V6 engine. The car came with alloy wheels, and I asked for a 30% window tint and this cool pinstriping with the little Chevy bowtie on the back quarter? It certainly does not look like an old geezer''''s car now...although I do see quite a few oldsters driving them. These must be decent cars, as HALF of Toronto taxicabs are Luminas - many approaching the MILLION KILOMETRE mark! So there has to be something good about these Lumina''''s. As a used car, they are an unbelievable value!
Weakness:
I haven''''t had the car very long, and all my little complaints about some windshield moulding and door panels being a little loose were readily solved by the Chevrolet dealership. No problems with brakes or alternators yet, I recently bought the car. But what sort of was a kick in the groin is efficiency. This hefty Chevy is thirsty! I''''ve calculated that it is only 60% as efficient as my last Volkswagen. Maybe, and just maybe, this is due to the fact that the dealership didn''''t fill it with gasoline to the very top such that you couldn''''t fit another drop of gasoline it - so that knocks my mileage calculations off a bit. Plus the car has been sitting in the lot for almost three months and I guess that gasoline that was in it wasn''''t the at it''''s best for peak combustion any more. The second thing, not that it''''s fair to mention because they haven''''t given any problems yet, is that I will miss those HUGE DISC BRAKES on VW''''s and, like it or not, stopping 3300 pounds with those tiny discs on the Lumina will take it''''s toll on brakes. What I''''d like to do is talk to these Lumina owners with the 30-odd miles per gallon efficiencies? That''''s a little hard to be Overall, this is a nice comfortable car to drive after twenty years of being a VW owner. It is a quiet, roomy car where are controls and guages are easily within reach and easy to see. I feel safe in this car and am overall quiet happy with this purchase. I''''m pushing 40 and getting jolted and jostled with stiff suspension in VW''''s just got to me and after twenty years, this is the 2nd Chevy I''''ve ever owned in my life. What comfort! Similar Products Used: I''''ve always driven VW''''s - Scirocco''''s, Jettas, Rabbits...but with comfort and great customer service from my neighbourhood Chevy dealership I am quite happy. (But where are those Lumina owners |
