My Storm has only had one problem in the 70+ thousand miles I have driven it. It was an oil leak and was fixed early in it's life with me under factory warranty. Can't beat that for the price ($4750) I paid for it almost 4 years ago.
Weakness:
Inherant Idle problems. Nothing major. Never stalled on me. I bought this car in March 1996. I looked in the paper for the newest, lowest mileage, cheapest car. It was between the '93 Storm or a '95 Metro. I decided on the looks of the Storm. I have never ben upset about the decision. I have updated and mainteained my Storm religeously and has apparently paid off. I really have so few problems with this car I would really would cionsider buying a newer model made by Isuzu if it were offered. Not much else to say. I enjoy my car, I enjoy being a little different and enjoy not being in a Honda Civic. :) Similar Products Used: 1991 Isuzu Impulse RS All Wheel Drive Turbo |

I Like That My Car Is Cute and Kind of Sporty Looking. I put a New Stereo in it as the one that was in was broken. It gets great gas mileage and as a high school/college student Its really neccessary. I would never give up stormy. I want to keep her forever shes been a good car and shes been through a lot:) My car is the cutest, it just has expensive parts. The car has some speed I wouldnt say it was a race car but it stands up to other cars. and it does go over 100...
Weakness:
The back seat is so small and there is not ashtray so ppl get ash on the floor. The brakes have gone out(@138,000 miles) and the wheel bearings are bad (need to be replaced) the cost of the repairs are higher since the bearings have their own housing unit. The lack of cup holders is a problem. The headlights are more expensive. I would recommend it for someone who has the money to spend on parts in the long run. If you buy one with more than 100,000 miles on it be prepared to fix repairs. If I had known this in the first place i probably would not have purchased the car (it was a gift from my mom) but unless you have the time and money to make repairs than go for a car that has less miles and may cost more at the time. Its worth it~ The car however is great for high school students that just need a car to go to and from school. Dont waste a lot of time cruising and dont take it up to parties in the woods..Bad Idea.. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
It has the power. I love it because it is sporty and something that is just like my personality. My mom had a black gsi and liked it alot. Mine is a little bit smaller but I love it very much.
Weakness:
The fact that it is so low to the ground I have to practically open the car door at a fast food restaurant, and that it is so light you can easily fishtail on a wet road. I would DEFFINATLY recomend it, because it is a good starter car for someone who is responsible. It is very sporty and my insurance wouldn't count it as a sports car. Similar Products Used: Well it is a lot like my moms in size and power and that is what i really like because she was going to give me hers if she wouldn't have wrecked it, and the entire front was torn off and had to be fixed but the mechanic told her it would be cheaper to buy a different car and she did. |

Strength:
Strong engine notes, build quality, modern looks, engine and transmission, air conditioner blows ice, ride quality, handling, brakes, reliability, 31/36 mpg rating, highway driving, smooth/quiet engine/powertrain, performance in every gear other than first, top speed, NO RATTLES, doors do not flex or rattle at ANY speed (even past 100mph), no steering wheel shaking (even over 100mph), quiet idle, damn, every thing you could possibly EXPECT a good car to do... the Storm does.
Weakness:
Difficult to locate parts, Engine is a bit loud when revving in 1st gear, weak first gear, dashboard seems to have cracked in 9/10 Storms I've seen (including mine-got a dash cover), the upholstery on the front seat wears easily from constant use (get a seat cover), the rear seat is hard (if it was soft, I still can't see people sitting back there often anyway... not much of a gripe), not a good car for those who abuse their property (you can find a MINT CONDITION 1990 Storm, and find a thoroughly nasty looking, barely running 1993 Storm), lack of intermittent wipers, lack of cup holders (I'm tired of spilling sodas), expect to need a new exhaust pipe that connects to the exhaust manifold. I never expected this much from the Storm. I ended up buying it because my other car's tranny died, and a friend of mine offered the Storm for $600. I chose buying the good running Storm over my Olds with a bad tranny that needed to be replaced. A good choice I made. I now have 160,000 miles on it, and my car idles as quiet as a brand new car off the lot. It makes no strange noises, and even at 160,000 miles, I don't feel any lack of power. I take the car on LONG, EXCRUCIATING trips from sea-level to 5,000 foot elevations every week and it never loses a step. The air-conditioner still blows cold, the windows and doors don't rattle or shake (at any speed), when driving on fast California highways where cars love to zip by at 90-100 mph, you can easily catch up without downshifting... and the car makes suttle racing noises (it doesn't sound as if the engine is straining) when you get around the 100 mph mark and the steering wheel NEVER shakes to make you slow down. The brakes are incredibly strong, and when fully pressed, does not jerk the car forward (like these Toyota Corollas love to do). The key to making your Storm last long is to make sure you change that oil VERY frequently, make sure your radiator is in good shape (if not, replace it), and even though the owner's manual says that 87 octane is recommended... if you're going to go on long trips and climb hills, you will definitely notice an improvement with 92. The car is always willing to increase speed on any hill, and you actually rarely have to downshift out of fifth gear to pick up power on hills. Similar Products Used: Isuzu Impulse (91-93) -- The Isuzu Impulse is the twin car. For all intents and purposes, the Impulse is like a luxury version of the Storm. It's looks are less sporty, more luxurious (even at 12,000 it has a sense of luxury that NO cars in its class exhibit... even the Storm). |

Strength:
It's sporty, but the insurance and gas won't kill you. Great gas mileage, everything is easy to get to (i.e. radio buttons, air conditioning switches.... you get the idea...)
Weakness:
It's a toy car. Honestly, it feels like a glorified go-cart. It's not something that you would want to drive forever, because let's face it... it's a Geo. The backseat is roomy enough for my midget friends... but it's a pain for any normal size person. There is no get up and go about this car... it goes from 0-60 in about 10 minutes (on a good day). It's been a good car to start out on... not too much power (that would only get me in trouble), and great gas mileage. It was a great first car. I would recommend it for that purpose... but for anyone over the age of 18, I'd have to say look elsewhere. Similar Products Used: None |

Impressive response from a 98 hp engine. Mine has been in three wrecks and I suffered no injuries even from an Aerostar in the driver's side door at 35 MPH. Reliability if maintained and problems are identified before they blow out of proportion.
Weakness:
Stock Muffler and Exhaust Manifold. Driver side seat pad always wears down on the door side so the uphulstery ripps above your left hip. Dashboard dryrots fast (mine went in '97). Front struts went in 94, leaking their oil which assisted the rot of the CV boots and tie rod and ball joint boots. Tie rods and ball joints are sealed and dont have grease fittings. Used parts are hard to find as people are hesitant to part with their storms. New parts are hard to find. Try www.auto-parts-fir-less.com for all GM parts including many Storm hard to find interior and exterior parts. See also carparts.com. Head gasket, timing belt, and exhaust system overall go faster than they should. I do all the repairs myself and I find this car extremely easy to work on due to the space available in the engine compartent and by reading the factory service manual. There's always one on ebay. I bought this in 1990 for its cheap price and sportly look with economical fuel use. It was the first year for the Geo line (if you excuse the Spectrum) and I didn't know what to expect. (I found out years later that all the Geo's came from other manufacturers Spectrum - Chevy, Tracker - Susuki Sidekick, Metro - Chevy Sprint Metro, Prizm - Toyota Corrolla, Storm - Isuzu Impulse). The Storm is a great starter car, college car, and commuter car. There are high performance products out there (Bill's Isuzuperformance) and even an owner's club. The Geo Storm Owner's Club. Search for it on the web. Similar Products Used: 1990 Mazda Protege - this is the brother to the 1990 Ford Escort - A piece of crap. The Storm performs better with less mechanical problems. 1990's Laser, Eclipse and Talon - Storm doesnt come close to these rockets but parts availability for these is even harder and more expensive. |

Strength:
Springy five speed manual trans, fast (120 and up), Front seats are very roomy, and very sweet look.
Weakness:
Small back seat, needs more horses, could use a bigger spoiler. This car has the stlye of a sports car and the economy of a economic car. My geo is the best car I've ever had. It is fairly fast. I've baried the needle at 120 mph more than once! Not bad for a dinky four banger. It has the room for my excellent sound system, and room for many improvements. I would recommend this car to everyone. And if you have sites on modifications for a geo storm please let me know. Similar Products Used: 1991 Geo storm auto. Not bad not as fast or quite as sporty, better on the rust. |

Strength:
-Small, makes for easy parking
Weakness:
-Horrible clutch The Geo Storm is a very compact car; good for younger people because there's no room to drive anyone else around in. It's inexpensive and uncommon (all the other Geos have already died). Nice starter car if kept in good shape. Oil needs to be changed often. OK gas mileage. Not very much "kick" to it. 4th gear turned out to be a favorite unless you like speed limits. Feels fine running around 100mph if you can get it there. Not for the long-distance traveller. base model with a spoiler. Tires are cheap compared to most cars. Great gas milage, easy to fix (if you have the book and tools) very sporty, easy to take care of. No major interior damage (I still have the dash!) General maintenance is a breeze. If you have a driveway, you can get it done. A few exterior scratches (but what car dosen't have them anymore?) and a great looking interior...by the way I solved the whole cup holder issue. :D Great traction on the wheels, No problems out of the rods (I should just shut up, that might be the next thing to replace!)
Weakness:
Wipers aren't the best, sometimes it won't start in sub 0 weather. Hot days, you can really tell how old it is, it dosen't give the kick like it should. Rainy days the winshield fogs a little, but open a window, thats what they're there for. If you over 5'4 don't get in the back. Tall people (my boyfriend in particular) HATE this kind of car! Finding parts really really suck. Easy to put in but DEFINITLY expensive! I bought this car new off the lot. It was sweet then and its sweet now. No major problems out of this car. I burned up the heater core at 100,000 miles, replaced water pump and timing belt at 125,000 miles. I replace tired every 2 years. Tires last forever. I drive alot! I do a lot of city/highway driving and I spend a few hours a day in my car driving back and forth to work. Has a lot of get up and go. Gas mileage is great, I fill up once a week. I switched to using synthetic blend to preserve the engine (hope it holds out!), the air dosen't work well anymore (but I like having the windows down anyway). I had to replace some of the fuses, put new breaks on (thank GAWD!!) But any car gets quirky after 100k. I'm coming up on 167,000 miles, and currently working on getting a new ecm and engine. 've replaced all the speakers too. The rest of the car with the exception of the normal maintenance stuff and parts mentioned is factory. I wish there was a current model made of this car, I'd be first in line! Similar Products Used: NONE |
