RIDE Engine/Tranny (both smooth as silk) Stereo A/C and Heater Overall comfort Nice and big inside Car practically drives itself

Weakness:

Noisy seats (squeek and groan for no reason) BREAKS Wish I had 4 speed instead of 3.

Its been a great car. I''ve had it about a year and a half. I needed a car that I could use to drive back and forth to college everyday and found this century with the 3.3 V6 with only 34,000 miles. I thought it was an odo roll back, but I was wrong as it drove like new and it sure as hell looked new. It still does and the engine is a powerhouse. I''m not one to race other cars, but the car will get you where you want to go...FAST if needbe. The ride is like a cadillac, perfect for highway travelling. Stereo sounds great, however I wish for more instrumentation than just a speedo and gas gauge. The gas gauge itself is annoying as it fluxuates with the movement of the car (to the point where if I''m at 3/4 full, the guage will go from completely full to empty). The brakes are the bad part...I don''t trust and never will, they just don''t feel right (sometimes they are great, other times they aren''t and you can''t judge how they will act before its too late). The styling, albeit rather old, still looks great (I love the car-wide taillight). The original hubcaps (shake head in disgust)...they made the car look ten times older than it was...I bought a set of 5 spoke chrome hubcaps from a buick skylark, make the car look fantastic!

Strength:

Very comfortable car to drive, still smooth and tight with 107,000 miles.

Weakness:

The front disk brakes were the only repairs done on the car. The original warped and I had them replaced. The second set was warped in less than a year and were replaced under warranty. The third set has been on for about a year and they are also warped. The problem with this is that you feel a vibration in the front when braking. I have never had to brake hard with this car, this is from normal use.

I purchased the vehicle for work purposes. I drive about 3500 miles (5500 km) per month, mostly highway. I have had it 3 years and it now has 107,500 miles (172,000 km) on it. I am in the process of trading it in on a 2002 Regal. The Century has been an excellent car, and has provided me with a very good per mile value.

Strength:

There were two sedan models from which to choose in 1994: the Special and the Custom. I own the Special. It''s V6 3.1L engine boasts enough power for towing and passing when needed. I would have prefered GM to keep the 3.3L in the Century though. The ride is comfortable as so long you maintain tires and alignments. Air conditioning and heater works very well. As for the stero system, one can not complain for 1994 factory equipment. Fuel economy is average with roughly 24 HWY miles, 16 CITY. The ABS braking system on the car is also very good.

Weakness:

The road noise is a little more than I like. It is still a quiet ride, but I like to hear nothing. I have also had minor problems with the wiring: i.e. turn signal not flashing, the "theatre" light on driver door also goes in and out. The transmission is also a little weak when begin long hauls up hills in a higher gear. Hitting the gas will correct problem. Also as with all GM models with center consoles that house the cup-holder, the cup-holder has a tendacy to break.

Buick has a reputation of building solid automoblies and they didn''t waiver from thier tradition on this model. It has a "town-and-country" styling to it. Not the most trendy design, but nice to look at none-the-less.

Strong first gear. Good size truck.

Weakness:

Weak second gear, excessive air noise at highway speeds around windshield and all around drivers door. Had to place black electrical tape over windshield edges, had to take rear view mirror apart and seal seams with weather stripping, had to take drivers side door panel off and stuff door with 2" foam to help stop cold air and wind noise from coming into cabin. Had to place extra 2" foam behind small radio speaker in door to stop huge amount of air coming into cabin through speaker. Received no support from dealer when problems described. They claimed they couldn''t hear or find a problem. My wife and I took a trip from Denver to Santa Fe, NM and whenever we stopped at rest stops or whenever, our ears would ring from the road and wind noise. We cannot use the radio at higway speeds above 65 mph because of road and wind noise even after all I''ve done. We do not recommend this car to anyone. No comfortable position for the steering wheel. At most comfortable position the steering wheel blocks my view of the speedometer.

Very disappointed in this vehicle. Not the quiet road car I was hoping for or told I was getting.

overall good car..Buick quality/craftsmanship/ride

Weakness:

GM still trying to figure out bugs in transmission. no service alerts issued

Good car, but other consumers were right about transmission problems. We read about them here on the web. Had ALL services done..(oil every 3,000 mi, done by dealer, etc). at about 20,000 miles , noticed transmission would ''LURCH'' as it shifted while driving/accelerating/braking. Intermittent problem. Had 30,000 mile service done, Tech said changing fluids would correct it. WRONG!! at 33,000 miles it got worse. teardown/inspection revealed FAULTY SOLENOID VALVE AND CRACKED PAN. Repairs made under warranty. no problems since.

Just an awful car. Bad Transmission, bad brakes, noisy ride, overall a bad value.

Beautiful car to look at but has spent more time in the shop than outr of it. Had to replace the breaks at 12000 miles, and entire transmission at 38000 miles (warentee ran our at 36000)amoung others.

Strength:

Very comfortable and reliable car. I have driven 24K miles with no problems. When you look at this car it is impressive from outside and inside. Indeed a 6-passenger car, and can actually fit 7 passengers if necessary (3 in the front sit and 4 in the back sit).

Weakness:

I am not very satisfied with accelaration. 165hp engine for this car is a little bit weak.

Very high quality/price ratio. I recommend this car for people who want smooth and safe driving.

Strength:

Despite what others say, this is extremely reliable.

It gets my friends and I around in cold air-conditioning.

Very smooth ride.

Big trunk, with hidden full spare tire

Weakness:

It originally came with only an AM/FM radio. I dropped a cd player in there and it sounds great. The factory speakers are superb, no clue why they put that crappy radio in there.

Ash tray rattles, but nothing duct-tape can't fix! (can even see the tape)

Driver's side lock rattles, but is an easy 2 screw-tightening to fix.

I needed to get new brakes, battery, and the headliner fixed cause it was hanging down blocking my rear view mirror. Other than those annoyances, there hasn't been another problem with it.

I paid $1200 - an excellent steal. I definately reccommend it. Who cares about going from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds? This car doesn't attract cops. I speed all the time, and was only stopped once.
