Could use more leg room in the rear, premium gas gets expensive

V8, Leather, Sunroof. We've been in a SUV for 8 years so it was nice to get into a luxury car again. We love it. Runs great, good mileage, sporty,

Great car. Smooth power and wonderful handling. Attractive looks. Quiet interior with all you would expect from a "near luxury" sedan. Given the current rebates and 0% financing, a great value.

Strength:

The dash and controls are laid out well. Easy to use. No little buttons. Fast, Beautiful, expensive looking and the Lincoln name still carries some weight. Incredible handling for a car this size.

Weakness:

This is the manual. 2nd seems too short and third too long. Havent really steped on it yet but seems to need more power. Not a lot more storage than a sports car.

So Far so good. I have the 5 speed manual. Makes this car really shine. Everyone loves the looks. Better than a 4 door Mustang? It makes me smile when I drive it.

Strength:

Handling, relative comfort

Weakness:

SERVICE Dealerships ill-prepared for complaints.(they don't like to handle service complaints or follow up at Lincoln) Engine runs rough - only the highest grade/high octane fuels can be used in this car - one dealer told us to put B12 in the car to stop the pinging. The engine management system does not seem to try and correct pinging/knocking of engine. Reat windows dropped - fixed by Lincoln update. Headlights fill with water. New covers installed by Lincoln. Excessive Brake wear. Front rotors were worn down beyond reusibility specs at 35000 miles. (pads were not worn out)Rotors cost about $80 each! Ford pads are over $70 set. An expensive brake job with low miles. Rear brakes had to be repaired at 37,000K First time we purchased a Lincoln. Unipressed with quality of service received. I guess our expectations were too high. We probably buy foreign next time.

Strength:

Handling. Power. Built-in mobile phone system. GPS locator.

Weakness:

Interior storage space is lacking, particularly in front. Exterior mirrors not hinged and can get ripped right off if clipped.

I love this car and have had no serious warranty problems in the 22,000 miles driven in it during the first nine months of ownership. It handles well, has a nice interior with enough room for me and everything I have so far needed to carry, plenty of power with the V-8 engine, and economical enough (18-20 MPG overall).

Strength:

None that I can see

Weakness:

Condensation in the headlights which they told me there was no fix for until ford engineers came up with a redesign for the headlights. Electrical problems-Rear passenger window has had to be fixed twice Front drivers window fixed once and they all still make noise. Door panels now rattle since windows have been fixed. Paint chipping off rear finder. Miss in motor fixed twice already and having the same problem again. Car engine shuting off.Brakes grinding. Suspension problems.

I purchased my LS in March 2002 with 27,000 miles on it. I have had nothing but problems with it since I bought it. I am getting no satisfaction from the dealership. They won't even work with me to trade the car. They told me the best thing for me to do is try to sell it myself. I would not recommend this car to anyone.

Nothing as bad as this. had Toyota 4 runner I traded for this(big mistake) it had 53,000 miles on it without any problems

Strength:

Fast, great suspension wihtout roll. Black leather seats, sunroof, Alpine system are awesome. All luxo items are nice to have. Looks great, attention getter!

Weakness:

Will be bringing it in for a new steering column (pops back and forth, very unerving) and the heated seat (passenger side) didn't work at delivery.

Nice car all around.

Strength:

Looks, ride, handling

Weakness:

Spend too much time taking it in for warranty work. Power windows, stereo, suspension, "won't start", computer doen't boot up upon starting engine causing gauges to malfunction - have to shut down and re-start, etc.

Overall, the car has not been a good experience so far. Jacky Jone Ford (dealer) has been great! It's not their fault, they didn't build this thing.

Strength:

Comfortable, stylish and roomy - especially in the back.

Weakness:

Rear speakers haven't worked since I bought the car; trunk lid badly aligned on build and required remounting; roof liner behind sunroof loose, precluding full opening of sunroof; trim parts loosened and required gluing back (chrome on rear bumper, trunk key surround, etc.); insufficient space for small "stuff" in cabin; transmission kicking; steering rack replaced; front end knocking on turns (after 40k miles ... now has 100k miles on it); fog lamps good for being seen but useless to see better with; HVAC system has "too many buttons" ... haven't yet figured out which button does what window defrosting; driver's window electrical/ mechanical parts replaced (just fell apart one day); and it goes on; in short, a great pity.

With a better build, this would be an excellent car: it rides very comfortably, has plenty of pep (V6), and everything is conveniently located.

Would be a bit unfair to compare to other vehicles in the class ... nothing like owning one, as opposed to jsut driving one, to actually find out the real problems!

Strength:

Character, ride, power, everybody who sees it likes it. It has only been in shop for 2 repairs- broken thermostat ( I think I stepped on it too hard too fast) and now, at 52000 miles ( I put a lot of miles on it) it needs new valve cover gaskets, which are on (I really hate this) BACKORDER. I am 2 week and counting.

Weakness:

Staring to hear a clunk when stopping. Hope it's not the transmission, but I'm trading as soon as my backordered valve gaskets are installed. The 2000 model does have bugs, as noted by previous reviews.

Nice body style, understated but clean. Distinctive, don't see as many but is picking up in popularity. Love the ride( nothing beats a Lincoln ride). Got 3 tickets already, (need a fuzzbuster), really flies! Good value for money at the time.
