Strength:

Ride, handling, exterior looks, and interior comfort.

Weakness:

Lack of interior storage space and trunk space is shallow for a car this size.Dashboard dials and LEDs could be more modern.Engine could use a few more hp's to compete with Audi,BMW and Lexus.

Handsome without being a showboat mobile. Classy, modern lines and angles in the body design.Rides smooth and handles as if adhesive is on the tires.Power from the V8 is competent.Interior is roomy and controls are at easy reach. Good leather and comfort supported seats. Auto/Manual select electronic trans is a little vague when switching under heavy traffic at times but not bad.No reports of nosies or eletronic bugs yet.Fairly quiet ride. All in all a good driver's car.

Strength:

Rides like you're driving on glass. Beautiful interior with wood grain trim. A lot of automatic features like auto wipers, seat position memory, volume & radio/CD controls on steering wheel.

Weakness:

Things that have gone wrong within 3 months of ownership: 1. Both rear power windows have broken 2. Portion of break lights on spoiler out 3. Air bag light comes on intermittantly and flashes 4. Beep alert sound comes on even though there doesn't seem to be a problem 5. "Trunk Ajar" warning came on even though trunk was closed 6. Breaks hiss 7. Water caught in wells on bottom passenger side of car when it rains There is mimimal storage in the car and cup holders are too narrow for many drinks.

V8 Lincoln LS 2000 sport edition with spoiler, bought with 56,000 miles. It test drove better than any other in its class (Nissan Maxima, Acura TL, Infinity I30). Rides like a dream and haven't experienced noise problems like others have. Biggest complaint is both rear power windows have broken within 2 months and electrical problems seem to keep popping up. I drove a '95 Maxima for 5 years with less service problems than the LS for 3 months.

Looks, handling

Weakness:

See list above. Will not buy another Lincoln.

Great looking car with good road handling characteristics but has too many irritating problems: noisy air blower system, water in headlights, defective wheel, differential noise between 40-50 mph when decelerating. Road noise. Service department is totally unsatisfactory--require multiple visits for same problem.

VERY, VERY SMOOTH VERY COMFORTABLE, GOOD POWER FEATURES

Weakness:

NO SO GOOD STEERING NEEDS MORE STORAGE ROOM BAD ROTORS, BURNS GAS LIKE A SUV,

THE CAR HAS AN OVERALL CLASSY LOOK. IT TURNS A LOT OF HEADS. THE EXTERIOR IS EXCELLENT, BUT THE INTERIOR LACKS STORAGE SPACE. I'VE HAD TROUBLE PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE A FEW TIMES, AND START-UP IS SLOW. THE HAS AN EXTREMELY PEACEFUL RIDE ON THE HIGHWAY. IT FEELS LIKE i'M RIDING ON AIR. THE CAR DOES HAVE A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR ROTOR. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT, THEY SAID IT SHOULD WEAR OFF. I'M PRETTY YOUNG SO THE LINCOLN MAKES ME FEEL OLDER

Strength:

The LS doesn’t get enough recognition & advertising. Overall package is very competitive & ride, power, & handling come very close to BMW 540. Beyond the handling characteristics, this is a better car than the BMW. If it weren’t for the depreciation, this car would be a bargain, given its qualities & features. My favorite feature is its handling and ride. The car has many good qualities or features: sonar warning for backing up, battery in the trunk balaces weight and keeps battery clean and cool, cooled and heated front seats, rain sensing wipers, etc. Overall, you get many features for the money. I don’t yet know about its long term reliability, but based on all the information available on the Internet, I can conclude that reliability is no worse than European cars, better than GM cars, & maintenance costs will be less than the others. This car comes with 4 years of roadside assistance & 3 years of free routine maintenance.

Weakness:

The vinyl covering the dash, door panels and center arm rest is of low quality. In this class these should be covered in leather. The trunk door hinges are the gooseneck luggage crushers. Lined trunk is good size, but maybe a bit shallow. The interior has too much metallic finish - that may be the latest rage, but it is dull and gets old fast. Available real wood trim helps dress up interior. Needs more leg room for rear seats. Front seat head rests should be smaller (they are huge). The seat sitting surfaces can be softer, especially the rear seats. Ford should spend some money in advertising.

The purchase experience was as good as I’ve seen with Infiniti and Acura. I had plenty of time to drive several different cars over a 2-day period and there was no heavy sales pressure. The dreaded “meeting with the finance manager” was painless and quick, with a minimal of paperwork. The exterior styling is elegant, clean & well proportioned. Doors close solidly. Aluminum hood has a light feel opening. Interior is in good taste & well organized. Perforated leather front seats are thick & supportive. Front seat controls allow plenty of adjustment. Steering wheel & foot pedals are power adjustable. Rear seats are raised which helps rear seating position. Dash is very well laid out & logical, better than BMW. Controls are easily accessible and visible. There are many standard goodies. Interior storage is good: deep arm rest storage with coin holders, glove box , dash utility tray, door map pockets, pockets behind front seats. Radio has great sound, 6 speakers & in-dash CD. All controls are lit at night. LS drives great. Ride is smooth & comfortable. Interior noise level is muted. Handling is satisfying & precise. Acceleration is brisk at all speeds. Quick lane changes & sharp turns feel secure. Driving on rough roads has with minimal vibration. Turning radius is excellent. Braking slows car smoothly.

Looks nice

Weakness:

My engine keeps cutting off on me. It did this 6 times already. I took it to the shop and Ford know about the problem but don't know how to fix it. I had an accident 6/8/03. I lost power again and hit a light pole at 40mph. Neither airbag came out. Has anyone else had this problem. I plan on filing a lawsuit.

This car is garbage.

Strength:

The Audiophile sound system almost compares to what you would expect if you had paid the same at an after-market shop.

Weakness:

Rotten service from Lincoln, there is a pause in acceleration, and the car is full of bugs.

Great car for the first two weeks. Then I started getting a grinding noise in the dash when starting after sitting in the sun. It has been to two dealerships, and two "engineers" and the problem is still there. Not to mention a back window dropping, transmission problems, and one dealership replacing tires because they "sensed" flat spots during a test drive while it was in the shop.

There is no similar product to the Lincoln LS execpt maybe a Yugo.
