Strength:

Great styling and ride. Non-stop compliments from passers-by. Even had one guy stop me at a light to talk about it.

Weakness:

Almost from delivery, have had a burning smell coming from under hood, accompanied by white smoke. Three trips to dealer have produced no results. I'm a big guy, so unless I move my seat all the way back, I don't have enough leg room. I love the size of the trunk and have been surprised at what I can haul in it, but inside the car, there is virtually no storage space. Mirror controls are behind the steering wheel and difficult to navigate. Sun visors block nothin unless you're heading straight into the sun. I've averaged about 20 MPG this year -- was hoping for better as time passed, but not to be, I guess.

All in all, Lincoln has a good start in the sports sedan category. Some shortcomings will have to be addressed in order to stay competitive.

I love this car. quite a piece of engineering. Delivers what is expected, you just have to push it sometimes.

Weakness:

No storage with the cd changer in the glove box

I would recommend it to all.. Very nice car & it delivers all that is promised. This car handles like a dream & looks like an angel. It does not have any interior storage space due to the cd changer in the glove box & small center console. Let me put it to ya this way.... my boss went out & got a Eddy Bauer Expediton 2 days after I got my LS. Talk about petty!!! What a jerk!!! It's a great car!!!

Strength:

Good Power. Its there when you need it.
Supurb cornering for a large car. (I compare it to my Honda Prelude)
Great interior.
It is the Pride of this nation. We showed the Germans and Japenese how to make a sporty luxury car.

Weakness:

Not the best proformance in class.
Milage can be better.
I want the five speed with the V-8.

The LS is a turnaround from the cushy grandma movers of Linclon's latter. It is quick, responsive, and quite possibly the best balanced car I have driven, and I have had the privlage to drive exotics. It has the power, particularly, in the low-end range. It has the grunt cars like my "lude" don't have. Even though it is the six it can still move. I have driven the eight and it really isn't faster because the five speed manual is not avalable. Its interior is comfortable and spacious without being gaudy. The backseats are pariculary good and are elevated to accomadate taller passengers. The most notable feature is transmission. I have the 5 speed manual with the sport package. This transmission it fluid and quick. It feels like a sport car with the way it just wants to climb up. It can double dowshift with ease and can handle this fullsize car with confidence. You can truly drive this care not simply operate it. The quality is great. It has the bulky american durability found on all Ford manufactured automobiles, but this vheicle is more refined. The crome is thick and shiny. The fittings are seamless, and the paint is a mile deep. This is what an American luxury veicle should be. I am proud to be a LS owner.

Strength:

Good power, acceleration, and handling. Like the Euro-style. Nice touch with the automatic lights, wipers and steering wheel position. Lots of trunk space. The convenience of opening or closing the windows and moon roof with the keys or remote module. Location of block heater plug in. I like the A & B trip counters, theater lighting and dash lighting.

Weakness:

No touch key pad on drivers door. Missing the second sun visor on both sides. Power mirror control is hidden behind the steering wheel. You have no way to check the transmission oil. When the phone is out of the arm rest it hits the cans in the cup holders. Need a larger arm rest to hold the CD changer. Only memory for two people (always three before). No compass. Does not have a full size spare tire. Needs a more complete message system to include Instant mileage, average mileage, ETA to location. While driving normally the transmission gear shifter can be moved to drive 4 with out your knowledge. Humps under your feet. You need long arms to reach the door for closing when you are seat belted in. Missing extra outlets for computers and celluar phomes. Get rid of the ash tray and install more outlets. Needs adjustable pedels (I'm 5'7"). Poor over quality control (I had 5 write up before I took delivery). I would like to have a full set of gages.

Overall I think Lincoln did a good job of introducing a luxury and sport car combo. Strongly recommend Quality control become Number One. Price may hold down sales to the younger crowd. At least this car has started with new molds. Lincoln needs to talk more with present owners to keep the good trends going.

Good Handling car pleanty of power. Rear drive makes quite a difference. Good looks and unique styling.

Weakness:

Lack of interior storage. No glove box? Where are you going to put your CD's? Also be carefull with the automatic driver seat when you take the key out. if you have a rear passenenger that is tall or slightly overweight their legs will be compressed with the seat. CD changer should be under the seat or the trunk.

Very good car. can't wait for next year's LS.

Strength:

Excellent handling and acceleration, especially from a luxury car. The outside styling is very unique and definitely will give the the "Euro-styles" a run for their money at a little lower cost than most. Lots of chrome making for a very classy looking sports-car/luxury car.

Weakness:

Gas tends to dissapear in a hurry, gets about 18 MPG, but a smallish tank makes it go in a hurry.Cup-Holders are a bit useless, and storage inside the car can be a problem.

Lincoln has done an excellent job of introducing a luxury/sports car to a younger market. The Lincoln-LS will introduce awesome power and looks at a pretty reasonable price. The Lincoln LS will pull some sales away from the mid-range BMW and Mercedes onlookers. I would give the Lincoln LS, a five-star rating.

Model Reviewed: LS V6

Strength:

Handling is excellent, drives like a sports car only with a smooth ride. Acceleration is very good. Test drove the V8 and am glad I have the V6 - better milage and more than sufficient power. Like the 2-driver seat position memory - the wife and I have our own settings. Nose does not dip during hard braking or sudden stops - excellent weight distribution. Exterior styling is nice and trunk is roomy. Also like the fold-down rear seats with pass-through to trunk area.

Weakness:

Safety problem - over swing from passenger-side windshield wiper deposits rain water collected from the right side of the windshield in a vertical line directly in the driver's line of vision -- accumulated water is distracting and impairs ability to see ahead in medium-to-heavy rain. Bad speaker placement in the front seating area - speaker on driver side right protrudes from side of center console in the leg area and rubs driver's right leg, plus the speaker is muffled if you allow your leg to rest against the console, which is required for normal driving. Same negatives for left speaker in the driver's leg well - too easy to muffle with left leg. Who wants to drive with their legs together just for sound clarity? Factory preset DSP sound settings - Jazz Club, Concert Hall, Stadium -- produce muddy sound via digital delay; cannot override these settings except by turning off DSP - it is a useless feature. Cabin is tight - could use more hip room. Cup holders are a joke - side-by-side holders can take only small containers, and then only one at-a-time. Glove box is filled with CD changer, underscoring serious lack of storage space. No place to mount a cellular phone and hands-free setup unless you purchase the expensive console mounted option from the factory. Engine well is completely full with systems designed for access by mechanics and only the most determined do-it-yourselfers. Don't even think about changing your belts yourself. Exiting the car is slightly difficult -- sits low-to-the-ground and you have to use the door post to heave yourself up and out (been spoiled by my SUV). Avoid the steering wheel with wood-grain inlay on the upper half -- looks good, but makes handling a little tricky -- go for a total leather steering wheel.

Received corporate fleet-affiliate pricing, +/- invoice cost. Would recommend this vehicle to all who can live with the above-noted shortcomings. Definitely not the right vehichle if you are more than 6'5" or more than 240lbs.

Weakness:

TRANSMISSION VERY UNRESPONSIVE, FROM START. TAKES FOREVER TO KICK IN. NEEDS TO HAVE THE 5 SPEED V-8 FOR THE 2002 MODEL YEAR. SERVICE IS VERY POOR FOR THIS CAR. LINCOLN NEEDS TO TREAT US LIKE MERCEDES TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS.

NEEDS MORE AFTERMARKET PARTS. SPOILERS, CHIPS, MUFFLERS, EXHAUST.

Strength:

Steering, Sound and its overall Luxery --Something I never expected to come from a Lincoln.

Weakness:

Having the Lincoln title -- everyone mistakes it for your grandparents car. The transmission response time plain sucks. Storage space is a real issue. Rear passenger space is another issue. The A/C and heater vents for rear passengers NEVER work, even when the Fan is on full. We've had our car serviced so many times and we've only had it for 25000 miles. If you sit in the back seat, it is so hard to get out of the car when you park it -- they don't unlock you have to manually unlock them.

The LS is overall a great car. This is the best to come from Ford and I cannot wait to see what comes from Ford next! This car ROCKS!

Strength:

Exterior looks, acceleration from the 8, nice highway cruising ride, lots of features

Weakness:

Rattle in driver door panel, plain-jane interior, some low-quality plastics, small back seat, expensive to lease

The new Lincoln LS was a good car overall. It has nice styling, it's REALLY fast with the 8 cylinder, and it has a nice ride. However, there are flaws. There was a rattle in the driver door panel, the interior is VERY plain, and the back seat is a little small. Also, the lease price came to a hefty $945 per month!!! (cdn) roughly the same amount as a 2000 Cadillac DeVille (very nice car). Its a good car, but there are flaws in this heavily-hyped automobile.
