LS w/ V8
Strength:
Great value for the money! I paid less for this fully-loaded with the V8 than many luxury cars with a V6.
Weakness:
None to speak of This is a great car for the price. Similar entries from Lexus give less headroom and less power in the engine. I've had no problems after six months and 14000 miles driving in Texas and Oklahoma. The control layout could be improved *slightly* but is still very good. The base stereo/CD is more than adequate for me since I primarily listen to news stations. I don't get to use the SelectShift much in Rush Hour, but it's a great addition and better than other, similar offerings. All in all, an outstanding buy. Similar Products Used: Lexus, Acura |

LS SPORT V8
Strength:
BY FAR, THE BEST HANDELING CAR I'VE EVER OWNED! SUPERB IN DASH CD PLAYER AND STOCK AUDIO SYSTEM. VERY RESPONSIVE TRACTION CONTROL, ESPECIALLY IN THE ICE AND SNOW. THE CAR SEEMS TO BE ASSEMBLED VERY SOLID. OVERWHELMING COMPLIMENTS. EXCELLENT POWER BAND FROM THE JAGUAR V8, BUT AFTER INITIAL ROLL. EXCELLENT BRAKES. VERY WELL LIT UP EVERYWHERE. EXCELLENT FOG LIGHTS AND NO DAYTIME RUNNUNG LIGHTS! VERY COOL TRUNK IN THAT THE BACK SEAT BACKS FOLD DOWN. EXCELLENT VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR. GREAT LOOKS!
Weakness:
TRANSMISSION HESITATES FROM PARK TO REVERSE, AND FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND VISE-VERSA. IF NEEDED IN A HURRY, YOU COULD BE CLOBBERED! MY UNIT HAS HAD TWO DIFFERENT TRANSMISSIONS AND ALL HESITATE. I AM CURRENTLY IN A LAWSUIT WITH FORD OVER THIS DEFECT (3-2001). ACCELERATION A BIT HESITANT FROM 0, MUST "RAMP UP" BEFORE RESPONDING. ONCE IT DOES, IT'S BYE BYE! IT'S REAL OBVIOUS THAT FORD MADE AN OUTSTANDING LEAP INTO A CATAGORY OF AUTOMOBILE THEY WERN'T QUITE SUITED FOR. THE LINCOLN LS IS AN OUTSTANDING AUTOMOBILE FOR THE PRICE, BUT THEY FORGOT SOME IMPORTANT ISSUES . . CUSTOMER RELATIONS. THE TRANSMISSION PROGRAMMING ISSUE IS VERY IMPORTANT! Strength:
Easy to drive. Sound system is awesome!!! Fits four adults very comfortably. We like the trunk space and also the fold down seats so we can fit our skis in the winter and fishing equipment in the summer.
Weakness:
Biggest complaint is that there is absolutely no storage space to speak of in front of the car so travel light. Don't like automatic doorlocks, no compass & drink holders are inadequate. This car is the ultimate to drive & I think Ford should be congratulated. The stereo system, the ride, the power, the ease of driving makes me not want the trip to end. We are so pleased with this car that we plan to buy another one. One suggestion -- if you testdrive this car, bring your checkbook with you because you will want to buy it. I believe that the LS can compete with Mercedes E-class. In short, it's just an absolute pleasure to drive & own. I feel very safe in it, it's very comfortable & I've taken it up to 110 mph across Fla. & it was cruising. What a car!!! |

Strength:
FAST, stylish, comfortable. Alpine system with the in-dash changer really sounds good too (for a stock system anyway, stability control system really helps!
Weakness:
Doesn't look good in charcoal grey, trunk a tad small, transmission starts in 2nd gear unless you hammer it, but that's it! This car is fantastic! It's my favorite one of all the ones that I've owned. It wasn't my first choice because I had never owned a Lincoln before (I mostly drive GM products) but this car blew away my concept of Lincoln's as fuddy-duddy cars. It's tight, responsive, and the handling is amazing. Plus the seats are first rate (even for my bad back) and that in dash CD changer alone makes the car worth it (no more stooping into the trunk or glovebox to change out CD's) I don't know how other Lincoln dealerships are, but Momentum was FIRST RATE. In fact, it was because of their outstanding service and attention to details that swayed me to Lincoln in the first place. Chris Horner was extremely patient and didn't try to pull any scams. Excellent car, excellent dealership, excellent all the way around. Highly recommended!! Similar Products Used: Chrysler LHS (junk), Cadillac Catera (no performance) |

Lincoln LS
Strength:
Great handling abilities, I can actually take a turn at high speeds without any resent. The interior is luxurious with leather seats, garage door opener, etc.... The V8 is impressivly smooth and quiet. The styling really gets me, "it looks good in silver".
Weakness:
Lack of interior storage space. I would like higher effort steering at low speeds. No light under the hood. (the only reason chrysler puts lights under the hood is because their cars break so much). no one else but chrysler puts lights under the hood. When i got the car with selectshift, the tranny reacted very slowly to down+upshifts so i put a aftermarket chip in and all of a sudden it shifts quicker than lightning. The handling is superb when compared to other american cars. The computer gives you all the info you need from oil life to when your tranny overheats. Low price when compared to other import's that conmpete with the LS. Ford Motor Company and Lincoln did a good job on the LS. Similar Products Used: BMW 540i- the 540i had a quieter ride and had lots of storage space, but the lincoln handles better and is a better value. |

lincoln L.S. V-8
Strength:
Handling is excellant at high speed, and on twisting back roads with the available sport package and optional V-8.The engine is smooth and quiet, and the level of comfort is excellant for this price range
Weakness:
The transmission is slow to react during spirited driving, paricularly downshifting, when trying to catch a passing gear. It also hesitates when shifting into gear, both reverse and drive. Low speed steering could be a bit firmer. tire noise seems a little high, but perhaps it's the 17 inch wider tires which come with the sport package I believe that this car is a strong dollar value. Although it has some faults, and may not be equal to the 8 Cyl. Luxury imports such as Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus,in fit and finish it also costs about $15000. less than any of the above in an 8 Cyl. version. Similar Products Used: Nissan's Maxima which I owned previously couldn't compare in handling due to its front wheel drive set up. It also doesn't measure up to the level of comfort and luxury of the L.S. |

Strength:
Great handling capabilities.
Weakness:
Pitiful acceleration, very slow to shift from neutral to drive and visa versa--takes at least three seconds before you can take off. Interior is loaded with plastic parts and connections, take away the leather and you would have an escort. Very poor performance from engine, but great handling. The engine stumbles and seems to be looking for a new gear when accelerated hard. Car actually takes a nose dive before acceleration kicks in, takes about a second or two. Very aggravating and disappointing for a 40000 dollar car. Service treats you like crap and can't rectify any problem. Similar Products Used: Traded in a Jaguar and now regret it. |

Strength:
Smooth, quiet, powerful V-8. Good, if not great, acceleration. Great brakes. The Sport Pkg provides outstanding ride and handling; great road grip. Sophisticated AdvanceTrac traction control system improves winter road manners and emergency response capabilities.
Weakness:
New 5-speed automatic transmission needs lots of work. Shifts poorly in some gears. Takes forever to go from reverse into drive. With the 6-disc CD changer in glove box and audiophile sound system in trunk, has very limited interior and trunk space for its overall size. Needs to use the type trunk hinges that don't intrude into trunk. Mediocre gas mileage in city, OK on highway (23.5 mpg). Subjective quality of interior materials isn't up to expectation; too Sableish. Overall, an outstanding "driver's car" that begs to be driven and driven hard/fast. Really eats up interstate miles and twisty back country roads! Provides outstanding road manners, great overall & balanced performance, and great value. My loaded LS8 had an MSRP of $39,400. Came well equipped (Sport Pkg, AdvanceTrac, sunroof, 6-disc changer, audiophile, & heated seats) and looks nice. Gets lots of compliments, even from our doctor who has a '98 Lexus LS400. Lincoln needs to work aggressively to improve sales and service environment for customers. Treated more like buying a Mercury Sable than a Lincoln. Miss the special treatment I used to receive at Reagan Infiniti (they were the best!). Have had some initial bugs to be worked out. So far, service issues with transmission, heated seats, windows, and air bag. Not perfect but one heck of an effort by Ford/Lincoln to build a world-class premium sport sedan. Similar Products Used: Larger and more luxurious than 328i and 528i. Handles better than Aurora, Bonneville, I30, 3.2TL, or 300M. Loaded LS8 much less expensive than Jaguar S-type sibling or 528i/540i. |

LSV6/Auto
Strength:
Superb handling, very good build quality (no squeaks or rattles-none), nice sounding stereo and convenience with in glovebox 6 CD changer, excellent dealer service (always done on time, free loaner, professional quality work, fix it the first time), TripleCoat Pearl paint is gorgeous, car gets a lot of compliments. The V6/Auto has plenty of power for highway cruising and good juice for passing and merging.
Weakness:
Give us bigger, usable cup holders. Put it on the road with an extended warranty for $35K. Saved almost $2100 off sticker. Everything is holding up nicely at 12K miles. I genuinely love this car and would buy another in a second. The dealer I purchased from was Dulaney LM in Towson,MD and they treat me better than the Porsche dealer and as good as the BMW dealer did when I owned those brands. Similar Products Used: I have owned Nissan Maxima SE, (2) Porsches, BMW 5 Series, Chrysler Turbo Coupe. |

Strength:
This car has superb handling, outstanding comfort, as well high standards of fit and finish. The car is fantastic for long-distance hauling, as well as for pressing hard into corners. It appears from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety that it is highly crashworthy. My wife has always been reluctant to travel long distances in the car, but she loves doing so in the Lincoln. Took her on a 2000 mile trip this summer and she was very happy. This is a superb European-handling car in an American idiom with all the bells and whistles. I got the 6-cylinder with the manual shift and I LOVE it.
Weakness:
I wish the stick shift transmission was available with the 8-cylinder. The 6 has adequate but not exciting amounts of power. Also needs more interior cubby spaces and cup-holders. This is a great car for a driving enthusiast. The rear-drive, manual shift, luxury-sport automobile really only has two contenders - the bimmer and this. The BMW is a very good car, but not nearly the value and some of us resent the whole yuppie-scum image that goes with a BMW. I recommend the Lincoln LS in the highest possible terms - but Lincoln should really get it together and offer the V-8 in a manual shift!!
